In a July 2015 report, the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor showed that 91 percent of the state’s CEOs say business start-ups are “a good thing for the state and its economy.” Here’s the list of the 10 best cities to live in Texas.
10. Waco
Waco has one of the highest projected job growth rates in the country over the next five years as the State of Texas and Baylor University collaborate to attract businesses to the area. It’s the first to be considered on this list of the 10 best cities to live in Texas. Waco is also expanding its options for retail, dining, and other services. In a bid to fast-track its recovery from Hurricane Harvey, Waco has continued to woo businesses and investors to the area. In the next five years, the city is expected to have a more than 10 percent job growth rate.
9. Southlake
This college town is surrounded by plenty of farmland, so there is ample space for homeowners to care for their horses and cows. Families also have opportunities to enjoy great outdoor recreational opportunities such as mountain biking, fly fishing, bird watching, and kayaking. This little coastal city is known for its oyster festivals and is famous for its beautiful beaches in Texas. The city itself is a historic river town with four miles of waterfront property.
8. Rockwall
Rockwall is a suburb of Dallas. It is walkable from the city. However, it is still not a cosmopolitan city. Its median household income of $77,654 is quite rich for Texas. Statistically also shows that it is the city with the most educated residents in the state. Rockwall has a higher rate of educated residents than anywhere else in the state. About 45.2 percent of them have a bachelor’s degree and more than half of its population either have either a university first degree or professional qualification.
7. North Richland Hills
North Richland Hills is certainly one of the best cities to live in the state of Texas. Residents of the hill country are known for their thick northern Dallas County, Hill County, and Edwards Plateau vegetation, year-round moderate temperatures, and scenic but challenging landscape. The long, narrow, rolling terrain creates a lovely, slow pace and intimate communities that are easily lovable.
6. Wimberley
The hills are a scenic backdrop to this quaint tourist town, home to world-class golf and cool indie shops. For all would-be-rescuers and naturalists, Wimberley has it all: rodeos, live music, and hot springs. If you prefer to be at the water's edge, check out Barton Springs, one of the largest spring pools in the world. If you love food, you'll love the Tex-Mex, gourmet coffee, barbecue, and Tex-Asian cuisine. For these and other reasons, Wimberley is one of the best places in Texas.

The descriptions of Waco and Southlake are wrong. Waco is far inland, too far for hurricanes to hit. Southlake is in The DFW Metroplex, not near the coast. Rockwall is a well-to-do-suburb of Dallas, not a small rural town in the middle of nowhere. It is a stretch to say it is not cosmopolitan. North Richland Hills is not in The Hill Country.

I’m sorry but as an RgV resident born and raised, McAllen is none of those . McAllen is perhaps a shopping haven for people from Monterrey but that’s about it. If you was history, culture, etc go east to Brownsville , the actual largest city in the rgv, there you will find rich history, culture, nature, and a deep water ship channel that brings in commerce from many parts of the world. Not McAllen, but Brownsville Tx. History? We are rich in history that eventually led to to what ultimately would become the USA, not that I totally agreed with it. Stop buying into McAllen bs. The most prominent, diverse, and historical city is Brownsville in the RGV. The Rio Grande City area is also pretty significant in terms of history. McAllen has malls !! 😂

i have lived in austin and east texas for 45 years now....of all these cities you listed you only said car dependent once.....they are ALL car dependent ...... a lot of the stuff you said may be true now but adding 1k people a day will change all of these cities into Los Angeles type towns.....in short....don't californicate texas
