I tried keeping 2 in the past they always ended up dead in a month. I think my problem was that I kept em with other bottom dwellers and the out competed it for food. Plus they are very bulky compared to other plecos so its a bit harder for them to try and eaf. Hopefully soon I will try one in my empty 55 loaded with driftwood and also get some good gel foods for it to eat.

They really go through wood. Much quicker than my clown pleco at the same size. I've got a few different types of wood in my tank and they both seem to prefer mopani.
Great video, but I have some points to share. They can be comfortable with neutral (tap) water they don't need to be in an acidic environment. Also out of all the plecos I've kept, Panaques have been the least territorial in my experience, they bother none of the other plecos and they're generally a peaceful fish
@@Runnygraph20 I'm not sure to be honest. But personally I wouldn't risk it. I'm no expert I just keep plecos as a hobby, they usually thrive in neutral to slightly acidic environments but I myself wouldn't put them in harder water. Plus I think they look their best in an amazonian sort of scape.

I have to differ on the keeping. I have two royals in a 150 gallon with multiple fish types including some you have mentioned, and they all thrive.

They might can live at 72 degrees my 2 royals litterly laid on the heater when i put it in so temp.more around 76-82 and warmer
