That would would Sam Cooke who was Al's influence. I love Al Green but too many people sleep on how great Sam Cooke was and limit him to one song. Listen to Sam and you will see why all Soul singers loved him so much. But I do agree with you Al was great and owned the early 70's soul.

Listening to his voice still still brings me joy and sometimes Goosebumps depending on the song and his lives are to die for. ❤❤❤❤ I am not sure if you know who Jennifer Hudson is. I was not a fan until she sang a song of his in tribute to him winning an award. I can't remember the title cause. I'm a little high but I have been rocking with al green and I never heard this so it made me a Fan of both jennifer hudson and simply beautiful that was the name of the song. Sometimes when i'm high it takes a little longer for the brain to react😂😂😂😂
While Let's Stay Together is his best known song, this one is my favorite. Al is incredible, but what makes this track is how amazing the whole band, including the backup singers are. It is perfection.

Saw Al Green live about ten years ago. There's a eeason he's called Athe Reverand. The most amazing vocal performance I have ever seen. His voice live was spirituality itself. Phenominal talent. You still need to do Tool's version of No Quarter, my man.

I was so hung over the next day I spent All day flipping this album over and just let it play and play because it was record players in those days. My girlfriend Barb was at her house and. We would call each other all day and she was playing the same album. Al Green has gotten Me through Some tough time. I still listen To him regularly. Check out living for you 1973.
