Great call to do both versions. I hear the Cedar a bit warmer, the Cypress brighter with more clarity. Depends on what the buyer is looking for, both are very nice
Thanks Alex. Cedar sounds deeper, Cyprus, I agree with others sound clearer with the higher frequency. That said, both are lovely Ukes with great looks. Have a great week.
At first I thought that there wasn’t much of a difference but when you repeated the ending section the cypress model was my CLEAR winner! Thank you for sharing… do you explain how to play this melody on your channel? I do really like it.
Cedar (to me) sounds like it accentuates more the extremes (deeper lows and louder highs) while cypress converges more to the mids. I prefer cypress, I find the sound more rounded, better integrated.

Cedar is one of my favorite tonewoods but in this case, I think the cypress wins. Mellows it out a bit more which is nice at that size.
Your videos are so helpful and informative.👍
The cypress sounds, to my ear, a little clearer, with just a little more high frequency.
Nice to see something besides koa nice to have a choice

Some of the nicest sopranos you’ve had, I think. I can hear the difference, but as to preference, the answer is yes!
I'm impressed sounds like more than a soprano !

Yes that tutorial is on the @ukeswithalex youtube channel... The ending here is slightly different.
@@SouthernUkuleleStore Thanks for your answer, Alex.
I like the new ending to the song. Helps isolate the sounds. I like them both. I think cypress is a little nicer. Love the looks of both of them !
I have a cedar top Kala and the tone is amazing.
Yay! the cast is off!
Yay! Thanks for noticing
Cypress has a wider oscillation, perhaps because of the wider grain, and a more pleasant sound (to my ears)!

I love cedar, but I think I prefe the cypress.
The tone of cypress seems a bit similar to cherry
Cypress
It bugs me, that the fretboard end on the body is nearly almost a straight cut instead of a nice shape.
Cedar.
