Hi! Let me know if you liked/disliked the video and if you have any suggestions for future videos. I hope this helped you out, thanks for watching and have a great day :)
Hi James. Great video. Just wondering, how long will this method last when I am constantly and repeatedly raising and lowering my very heavy solid steel plate snow plow on my Polaris Sportsman 500 ATV with a 3000LB Champion wench. I cannot be left stranded relying on this method and waiting to use my winch after the next heavy snowfall; only to have it disconnect shortly after I start using it.
From my experience it seems to be as strong the rest of the cable. I've been using this method on my kodiak 700 with a plow for a few years now with no issues. The only time I had a break using this loop was on the cable about 2 feet back while pulling another atv uphill and the loop was still intact. Good luck hopefully everything works well for you 👍
Boy, this would sure help out in the bush with a stuck UTV! Nice job, young man! These types of videos are a godsend to people! Keep up the good HELPFUL videos!
Holy freaking sh!t man you are amazing. This saved me so much frustration. Broke my cable tonight after about 2 feet of snow in upstate new york and after I barely even got started plowing. I can't believe how easy this was to do. Im gonna do a little better job with it tomorrow but this was so quick and easy and I was able to go right back out and get the driveway passable for another day. Thank you so much.
Thank you James. Now I just hope that my cable didn't recoil and tangle back up into my winch too badly. I'm definitely going to try this molly technique.
Awesome! Thanks, man! This is super helpful to know. I'm putting it to action right now. I thought I'd be waiting for sleeves in the mail and hoping they're the right size.
Glad I could help! It's always held up well for me on all sorts of different cable sizes. Just make sure you leave a long enough tail at the end and you shouldn't have any problems
@@BetterDays it was a total success and so easy to do :) Didn't take me much longer than the video. I haven't used it for anything but my plow so far. Have you found it can hold up for bigger jobs?
I've used it for plows and pulled an ATV out of a mud pit and up a pretty steep hill. I don't have a winch on my truck to test but my Yamaha Kodiak 700 is pretty heavy and it hasn't broken since the original loop came undone. I use the winch all the time at the offroad park
@@BetterDays It's been over 2 years now and I've done all sorts of things. I've pulled downed trees and atv's and it's still holding up! Thanks again for this video!
Actually, it is called a "farmer's eye." Or, more formally a "Flemish eye." A Molly Hogan is a single strand of cable used as a keeper pin to stop a larger pin from sliding out. Like a cotter pin. Your tail needs to be a minimum of 10 times the diameter of the cable. If, you don't want to effect a permanent repair, you need two Crosby clamps to secure the tail.
Every Boy Scout should know this from rope class. Well old Boy Scouts. I shot a 22 as a Cub Scout but my son shot a BB gun at the same level not sure what they teach now.
It should be around 80-90% the original strength. I haven't had any issues with this method, just make sure the tail is long enough so it doesn't start to unwind

Nice! Mine just broke in the middle of plowing, so I'm going to try this when I get home
Thanks for the video. Just broke my cable while plowing this will let me finish the job. Then I’m gonna buy a good synthetic rope!
Nice! Glad it helped :)

Awesome glad I could help! Good luck with all that snow
Very efficient knot. I used it on a broken winch cable, and it's been holding up strong ever since. Thank you 😊
Thanks. That's my question. How long will this method last when I am constantly raising and lowering my very heavy solid steel plate plow?
Thanks for the advice. My rope just broke the other day. Now it’s fixed until I can replace it
Thank you so much! Needed this to finish plowing my driveway after my winch cable snapped. 😊
No problem! Glad I could help :)

Hopefully it's not too bad. Let me know how it goes!
Thank you for this. Broke my cable tonight. Will try this.
Glad I could help :)

Awesome, glad to hear it!
That’s an awesome trail fix that’ll work until you get home to fix it properly.
That's really cool & so simple. Thanks👍

This is amazing. Thank you
I have done this today. Lets see how it works 😊
Oh sweet now I don't need to buy a new $80 cable
Awesome! Glad I could help
At rigging school, that is known as a Flemish loop.

Very cool. Thanks!
Cool man, thanks
Very good.
Awesome!! Thank you!!
Awesome !!!❤
Nice thanks 👍🏻
Glad I could help!
Will that half the SWL ?

This method of splicing an eye is stronger than a simple loop and clamp. Good video!
