This is destined to be one a historic document as to what air travel was like immediately post lockdown. What a strange time we all lived through. Thank you for posting. 👏👏👍😎
My son moved to Dubai four years ago, and I would fly out to visit him, and in doing so, I would end up catching something terrible, I am asthmatic, and fed up armed with antibiotics and steriods for my trips over to visit him, I bought a high powered filtered mask to wear on my journey, wearing it through London underground transport, airports and during the flight to Dubai. This was four years ago, and I had some of the strangest looks from other commuters as I wore this mask with a high powered filter on the end. My son said I looked ridiculous when he collected me from Dubai airport. However, this summer I collected my son from Heathrow when he came to visit home for a couple of weeks, yes.... he was wearing a mask, and so was everyone else!! I have been doing this for a number of years and was normally the odd one out. How things change. Love your video thank you for making it.
Love the cat in the bag!! Great video Steve - I'm sure like lots of others, I live life almost entirely through youtube travel vloggers these days, getting my travel hit vicariously. Keep it up!
@@steve-marsh yes I haven't been for years - it has great art deco covered malls around the centre that a lot of tourists seem to ignore. Looking forward to seeing the next video of your trip!
I’m watching this 3 years later, and I must say that the lockdown scam still angers me. I would say that it was a funny time but nothing could be further from the truth, we were taken as mugs big time! Nice video though Steve👍🏻
EasyJet called that plane as "Alana Kelly." She is a member of the crew who is currenlty battling against cancer. A nice gesture from the airline. All the good luck to her. Nice video Steve! Thanks a lot.
I liked Edinburgh airport although only been there once it kinda reminds me of Leeds my home one is Newcastle but next year we are going on easyJet from Liverpool to Rhodes I’m going easyJet for the second time I like jet 2 and tui but then easyJet.
Ahh glad to see you were able to get a flight out somewhere. This was fascinating - especially to see everything so eerily vacant and shutdown. But once again, great video. Thanks for taking us along.
Great video. Your channel is becoming one of my favourites. Prague is one of my favourite European cities. I've been a few times before. However, the last time I visited was in Sept 2020 and it was great!!! Prague has always been popular with tourists, but visiting in Covid times was amazing. The city was practically deserted. I was able to walk across Charles Bridge without any crowds. I doubt this is possible now has we're now back to normality. I will be returning in a few weeks time for a brief stop 👍🍺🇨🇿
Ahoy Steve! Thanks for sharing this great piece from last summer! Good to know about how flying has changed. I visited Praha back in 2016/summer. It was so much fun! Lovely city! Aye! Going back for sure! Capt.
Another interesting and well edited video. Interesting to see how flights worked during the pandemic. Will be watching the next instalment too! Thanks for sharing. 👍
Thanks for sharing. I wish we could fly from the US to the UK now. Edinburgh airport certainly didn’t look like that last time we flew out of there! I liked seeing people wearing masks on the bus/train, but nobody else seemed to be wearing them around Prague.
Great video Steve. I feel I need to go to Prague now. You should start your own accompanied travel firm 😁. Keep them coming. Also, your scarf looked way better than those wretched surgical masks. 👌
Robert Thompson ahhh cheers Robert! Yeah, I wasn’t sure if the scarf would be accepted, so had some disposable masks with me just in case, but glad I didn’t need to use them! :) cheers for watching :)
You make a good point regarding Squeezyjet. I fly with them (or at least used to) at least four times a year and cannot stand the speedy boarding option. It causes complete havoc with queuing up and promotes pushing, bad moods and bad feelings. The only reason to pay is that you have a better chance of getting some space for your on board bag in the overhead cabin. Regarding masks on board. I was told by a medical friend that wearing regular medical masks (or a scarf) you are putting yourself at more than 10X the risk of sitting on the bus, even with social distancing, as the plane's aircon circulates the in cabin air, acting as a very efficient virus distributer if there is, G-d Forbid, somebody infected on the plane. Your only protection is wearing a (K)N95 mask. Talking of flights, I've always wanted to fly into a Scottish airport but flight tickets are so much cheaper flying from Tel Aviv to London and then traveling up to Scotland. Even direct flights to Manchester give you no more advantage. Ah, wouldn't it be great to take a direct flight from TLV to GLA or EDI and then renting a car in Scotland. Alas, the only way to avoid London is to get a direct flight to Amsterdam and then to Glasgow which costs around double that of going via London.
Your first point is completely spot on, my thoughts exactly, and very interesting about the masks! I don’t think I’ll be flying for a while now, just too much stress booking something and then Covid rules change, takes all the pleasure out of looking forward to a trip! Oh yes, I much prefer to avoid the big hubs, but price is always the decision maker in the end and has led for me to many a missed connection at horribly busy airports! I hope you find a nice deal directly into Scotland sometime, sure makes a difference!
Bob Hudson thanks very much for watching! Love your island! Did the ECT and can’t wait to come back and do it again, friendliest people I’ve ever met :)
Hello, that's pity you didn't tell me about this trip. I could take you to the pub to taste the best Czech beer:-) I am your huge fan, thank you for making nice trip reports. It's always relaxing time for me to watch it. Good luck! 🍀 Greetings from Prague - Daniel
@@steve-marsh nice to read it, then please, let me know:) I am serious with the beer and being city guide. To be honest, I plan to visit Edinburgh in Fall. To my mind, Scotland is amazing as well! 😊
Good to see you out and about again Steve... You have to wonder how long some airlines and regional airports can survive with such a drop off in passenger numbers. Bad times for sure, but hopefully picks up. Is there no attention being paid to social distancing then in Prague? Not many folks with masks on....
munnjean thanks very much! :) I got a one way fare of £20 (inc seat selection) and getting back from Kraków was even cheaper! I’m always trawling for low fares and the one way combos are generally the cheaper option :)
Outstanding flight video and wee tour of Prague, Steve. Too bad boarding and deplaning could not have been that easy and orderly pre-pandemic, sad to see cafés and shoppes still being shut in the aerport. I would always dream of travelling somewhere where there would not be many people to crowd me. Slàinte 🏴
Thanks so much! It was a really interesting one to film and really hope we can get through this learning some lessons for the future. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! :)

I couldn’t see a face mask on the cat. Was it stopped from boarding? Until the stores and lounges are open I think I can wait before flying. The airlines are cleaning their aircraft finally. What about the water tanks? Apparently they are rarely cleaned so making tea and coffee a gamble.
