Inside Scott's head I picture a blues player with an encyclopedia of music theory under the hood. Scott knows the harmonic and rhythmic rules and knows exactly what he's doing whenever he chooses to break the rules. There is a method to every outside note that he plays and that makes him one of the interesting players alive.

Indeed. Derek Trucks is very similar like that. They both have encyclopedic knowledge about harmony, rhythm and melody, but they are all "at the service" of the blues...the most emotive music there is :-)

Tribal Tec have to be one of the most underrated bands ever. Scott's chord book, which explores this stuff, all in 16 pages, is truly brilliant. As is his playing. 👋

I've been to many of Scott's live shows and have met Scott about 30 years ago - wonderful guy, and he's also one of the greatest electric lead guitarists who has ever plugged into an amp.
