- James Honeyman Scott was born in Hereford, England on November 4th, 1956.
He was the original guitarist for the Pretenders, and his melodic influence is
widely created for playing a key role in developing the band's unique sound.
Before joining the Pretenders, James was involved in several local bands
around Hereford, including the Hawks, The Colts, Cold River Lady, and
The Cheeks (with Verden Allen and Martin Chambers).
James died on June 16th, 1982 at the age of 25 from
cocaine intolerance. He has been remembered
as one of the most inventive guitarists of the New Wave movement,
and his work has influenced other guitarists like Johnny Marr.
