The despair isn't that there is no "me", the despair is that nothing I do makes any difference

Just live life and forget about it. Spiritual teaching constantly keeps you reaching. Working on contentment, being present in the day to day, and having a healthy understanding of reality will wake you out of the despair

Great topic and I can relate on a personal level. In the beginning of my awakening I too felt dispair and a sense of overwhelming sadness. At first I could not put my finger on the cause; the more the sadness deepened I started to realize that it was the residualness of my humanity. It was the part of my humanity that sought comfort in my future self. The more pain it caused the more I was led in the direction of letting go any future anything. It is interesting that our pains are what ultimately set us free. Interesting bc the human response is to not leave your hand on the hot stove and yet we let mental suffering go on and on until it breaks us. Physical pains we avoid like the plague, mental pains are sought out. We talk to ourselves, "oh, I hope I don't ever lose my job..." and we go down some rabbit hole that is a mixture of anxiety and fear. I think we do this because if we can mentally work it out we will then feel secure, but there is no working out a future anything. Five minutes from now I could have a heart attack and all that future worry for nothing. My time could have been better spent on appreciation, thankfulness, and gratitude. Thanks for posting :] great topic 👍

There is a great meaning and purpose to this experience but we don't have to figure out what it is and we don't have to do anything except accept it and relax.

love to all the beings who are mature enough to examine their unnecessary pain and see through the delusion of the separate world ❤

Richard, you have no idea how much your insight, in this particular video message, has helped me in going for simply another, step in this hopeless, helpless and meaningless life on earth. Thank you. Thank you, from a very deep of my heart.

Thank you! ...mind blowing how no one is there...the imagined self imagines hopelessness, meaninglessness and despair as it dissolves and realizes from its own direct experience of reflection, rational thought and discernment that it does not even exist...truly a dark night of the soul as the imagined self takes one last gasp before it dives deep into the depths of wisdom, unity and loving kindness without attachments to any thoughts....self centered hope replaced by a deeper intuitive knowing...a new beginning of simple being fully in the present moment without any concepts....new wine in new wine skins...

I live in despair. There is a calmness to giving up on one's hopes and dreams especially in the face of reality where they will never come to fruition. A lot less stress in life than striving for an unattainable goal. I just exist and whatever financial fallout my life provides can be used for my wife's dreams. She was upset when I told her I didn't share in those dreams for us anymore. I still have to exist so I don't mind the setup. It's like giving your raffle tokens to someone else to use.

Wonderful Richard. The seeing of the message can apparently end the seeking which is in itself a relief, but the self may still be "addicted" to the seeking which had the goal of bringing hope that there will be an answer. I like your suggestion (or Tony's) to do something when in that despair state. What also helped in our recent conversation was when you said it has been seen. There was a sense of "yes it has!" which brought an immediate end to the seeking. Thank you.

    "Una salus victus."
The last hope of the doomed is to have no hope at all.
Virgil's quote always comes to mind when contemplating such matters.
And it is true, just live and enjoy life's small pleasures. That is "fullness" at its finest.
    Great thoughts. Mahalos! 🤙🌺

I can’t wait to see the comments to this! Some will find it a great relief and others may be quite angry and argumentative! 😱 At any rate, thank you for addressing this as it is a tricky issue to express clearly. I have found it is not an overwhelmingly popular subject at Satsang! 🤪 Thank you Richard! 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼

My return point from thoughts of despair is gratefulness. I found the sense of being grateful as the fine line between the state of fullness and emptiness, and I’m ok with both, which gives me a sense of freedom to choose stepping out of the mind vortex. Just thinking of all It takes and the collective paths for a bite to reach my mouth brings me back to fullness and puts a smile on the face. We are here to give the meaning or be in the lack of it; It’s a revolving invisible door in time sense, until it isn’t :) Thank you

    THE GUEST HOUSE
This being human is a guest house,
    every morning a new arrival.
    A joy,a depression,a meanness,
    some momentary awareness comes
    as a unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all !
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture
    Still, treat each guest honourably.
He may be clearing you for some new delight
    The dark thought,the shame,the malice.
Meet them at the door laughing
    and invite them in
    Be grateful for whoever comes
because each has been sent as a guide from beyond . Rumi

Why ask “what is the meaning of life?” We don’t ask a flower or a fish what the “meaning” of its life may be.

    Many enlightened masters have said,
Many long time religious practitioners, regardless of religions or Faiths got stucked in the so called *_"100 ft Pole Syndrome"._*
    Meaning, they get nowhere akin to climbing to the last 100th ft high pole, & no more ft to climb higher - feeling frustrated and helpless;
Because they got so attached to or cling onto their religious practices, bookish knowledge and or concepts, and unable to 'trigger' a direct experience of self awakening!
It's a sort of *_"religious neurosis"_* they are unable to overcome to break thru' to realize & experience a self awakening! 😢
Diamond Sutra refers - Buddha says to Subhuti - _"When One holds onto a Self, personality, an ego, idea or notion, One shall never see the Tathagata till the end of aeons in time!"_

So erm .. currently in middle of exestential crisis. Been hitting up Alan Watts and Eckart Tolle and Buddhism. Had settled on me not being a singular being very easily and observing/watching to be present. Still left with a notion that being positive in this vessel during this time around (as know my energy will be recycled) will effect our universe/god combined entity. Is the vibe from Richard that our actions are irrelevant in the next life? That we should just live and enjoy then maybe? I do like the idea of no pressure, that I dont HAVE to do anything other than be still and be peaceful

Before enlightenment chop wood carry water. The same afterwards. Buddha also said Life is suffering.
Just because you wake up to awareness of the ocean the expansive experience of consciousness does not mean you do not exist. There is so much to learn. And it matters. Gurus get so much wrong.
Everything is waves of energy in constant motion vibrating at different frequencies. Not much else is known other than our own experience. Question EVERYTHING.
