Received gorgeous strawberry plants from you today and they arrived w their very own insect repellant! you guys are always above and beyond.......I had a small tree frog jump out of the box and he is happily doing his job in his new garden bed ;)
I got my first time strawberry plants from you.. We started off the week in upstate SC mountains with low 30s this week. I have the pouches , I am in the process of using my little garden area from summer. it's going to be turned into a food forest this year. Plant my fruit trees, comfrey , strawberries and herbs and whatever might come back up on its own. Thank you for the very helpful tips I'll make sure to take pictures. Hoss has made my gardening so much easier.
Planted my strawberries in my post hurricane greenstalk. Giving some plugs to someone who is also planting after Ian. Old Goat looking out over Sheila tonight.
Mama Hoss, you’re going to love making tinctures! I’ve had ear issues since I was young in my right ear. Last week it started again with the cold weather and wind we’ve had here in southern Ohio. I started using my nasturtium tincture 2 days ago, it’s going away! Nasturtium another natural antibiotic! Old goat is standing under the Farm Sweet Farm sign! God made dirt and dirt don’t hurt💕
I bought strawberries last year and they were beautiful when they arrived. I just had way too many slugs in my garden. Tried the beer in a shallow bowl and couldn’t believe how many I had! I disagree with a comment that Greg made. You can’t just have a sunflower or two! The more the better! They were beautiful and then I loved watching the birds eating the seeds. The old goat is in the middle of two jars underneath a sign. (Above Mama Hoss)
old goat is above momma hoss left shoulder. I got some bare root strawberries this summer in a greenstalk and have been putting the runners into pots to root, cutting the runner, then starting a bed from the runners in the pots. Easily trippled the number of strawberry plants with very little effort and no additional cost.
The old goat is in the middle of the third shelf behind Mana Hoss. My strawberries are still looking good. Can’t wait for a strawberry short cake this coming spring!
Hi from Kansas! Picked the last bushels of tomatoes and peppers, brought some pepper plants in for wintering over, and mulched our strawberries for winter. The old goat is over Mrs. Hoss's shoulder among the jars.~~ Tammy Shaw
I have sprinkled pepper on my veggies to repel deer. Irish spring soap shaved on ground helps until smell gone. I used solar security lights on my new trees and pepper. They were eating my trees bad. First year here i said well i grew the deer a salad bar lol.
I grow my strawberries in old guttering with the ends sealed up that I have attached to my cattle panel trellis. Easy to cover with bird netting to keep from birds.
Hi from south Louisiana. Like to show about the strawberries. Trying again this year, last year was a bust. Thanks for the fertilization schedule. The old goat is on the second shelf behind mama Hoss. Again, thanks for the shows, truly enjoy them.
Just watching the replay. Great info on strawberries. I have mine in a Greenstalk and they are doing great. Zone 7 (TN). The Old Goat is in front of the “Hello October” sign behind Mama Hoss.
I grow my strawberries in old house gutters. I keep old red bowl of water close to them. The birds are wanting the juice so give them a place to drink. I mix sand, compost, my homemade potting soil. I add my rabbit manure every couple weeks. I have drip hoses in each gutter with 5 gallon bucket watering 4 ten foot gutters. I move them in hoop house after tomatoes are gone in fall. Move them back out on saw horses in spring.
Great info on strawberries! Just planted my plugs in GreenStalk yesterday. Old goat over Mama H’s left shoulder. Y’all do a fantastic job and your seeds never disappoint!
Old goat is feeling proud today! Standing in the open on the top shelf behind Mama Hoss, and welcoming in October! We got down to 28/29 last night. We pulled all the remaining summer vegetables that were at any eating stage. Dang deer ate every one of my broccoli plants though!
So glad I saw this video, I love I. Texas and didn’t realize you could plant strawberries in the fall. Got mine ordered today and can’t wait to get them. The old goat is on the 3rd shelf behind Mama Hoss with the jars.
I started some strawberries this year but hoping I'll get more than 8 berries next year lol. The ol goat is in the middle of the 2nd shelf from the top behind mama Hoss.
That was funny. I love it. My strawberrys have been through a lot. But I finely moved them to a place to where they won't get eaten by the mice and lizards and now they are doing good and putting off runners. I did not know that those runners make the strawberry small. I guess that I need to watch you guys more often.
I love growing strawberries. Thank you for the tips. Lost my roselle to frost a few weeks ago.😭😭😭 I see the old goat showing out behind Mrs. Hoss. 😂🤣😂😘❤️
Hey y'all. I'm late to the party. I have corn just about ready to harvest. Also, the Old Goat, front and center of the 2nd shelf from the top over Mama Hoss's left shoulder.
This is the first year in a while that I've not grown roselle because I have plenty dried and made into jam. We've not had a cool fall like this in a while and mine always bloomed and produced calyx at the last bit of warm weather...and I always start my seed in Feb too. Can't wait to get my strawberries in the ground this weekend! They are beautiful! I cracked up seeing Papa Hoss take a swig of that tincture lol I make mine in Mason jars and just take me a swig when I need it...I kinda like the taste of valerian even though my husband says it smells like dirty feet when I open the jar hahaha..I wish we could grow it down here by savannah but mine always croaks mid summer!
We will be planting out 100 strawberries this morning along with some elephant garlic. Love yalls show and products. Old goat is on the third shelf in the middle above momma hoss's left shoulder.
I started a ton of runners awhile back from the strawberries I got from you guys last year, and they look fantastic. I have most of them transplanted, waiting on some more I have started. Excited about our spring crop. Old goat on the 2nd from top shelf on the right side below the Farm Sweet Farm sign :)
2 nights of dadgum 28 degrees followed by a third right at 32, with heavy frosts has me sure I'll be in "damage control" mode this weekend. I haven't seen things yet, but I'm expecting the worst for fall maters and peppers. I think everything else will be ok. Y'all really have me wanting to grow some strawberries! I'm lucky enough to have one of the finest you pick farms I've ever seen fairly close by, and they grow TONS of beautiful strawberries! Check them out sometime.....Holmestead Farms in rural Clay County AL. Since I've already won, I ain't playing, but I still look for The Old Goat and he's right out there this week! Wide open!
The OLD GOAT is on the shelf behind Shelia in font of the October sign. I am having a pest problem in my raised beds. I have deer proofed it but there is something munching on my cabbage and other winter crops. I ended up covering everything with netting. It's been a frustrating year for me. The cold weather has taken out a few fall crops I tried to sneak in.
Sorry about the shoulder. I'm guessing your right one? About to turn 60 and my knees have started waking up and reminding me of that reality! The dad joke at the end made me giggle, thanks🙂
I lost all my roselle😥. I had three mornings of 30, 27 and 26 deg. I even tried to pick one plant and double bagged it...bit the dust. The Old Goat is behind Miss Hoss, third shelf in the middle. I can rendered lard, schmaltz and ghee every year. Schmaltz(rendered chicken fat) is wonderful for stir fry or in rice pilaf. Strawberries: My biggest problem is snails and slugs. We don't get strawberry fruit here until may or june.
Thanks for the tips on getting big strawberries. I planted some last year and they did pretty well but I felt like they were a little on the small side. I didn’t have any problems with birds but we also have a bird feeder nearby 😅
Hey y'all! Miss Sheila I landed on your link for the big Presto Electric Canner from the live video and ordered one. I got it today, and I am so excited to be able to can quarts. I already had the IP Max and had been wearing it out with the pint jars. Your peas look really good, and that is some beautiful white lard you have made!! I love bread and have slathered a lot of stuff on it but never lard, lol. That was so funny!! With the tincture, did you have a recipe or did it come from the channel you mentioned? My right shoulder has been giving me some trouble, and I am "almost" ready to go get it checked, gotta get my garden chores done first, lol. I am out of your selling zone for the strawberries, I have some that need to be transplanted into the raised bed out of pots and will follow your advice. Hummingbirds ate lots of mine this year, lol. That old goat is front and center on the second shelf from the top behind Miss Sheila. I love the Row by Row Garden Show, I always learn something new. Thanks for all of the hints, tips, and tricks.

Exactly! You need a lot of sunflowers!
I have a resident toad that lives/burrows in my garden. If I put out the dish of beer for slugs, will it potentially harm our toad?
@@A-G5518 I don’t know. Never saw frogs in my garden as they seem to prefer around the house better. I let them do their job there.
