@@siesta_witch in this video they're not singing in morrocan actually (it sounds like a made-up language, correct me if I'm wrong). The original version is by "Les Frères Mégri" (Mégri Brothers), a psychedelic rock band from Morocco formed by three brothers and their sister.
@@sandrachdi yeah, I also suspect their version of the song is made up and not Moroccan, but they were speaking very broken Spanish in their cover of Llorando Se Fue (The Shining Path) hahaha
I love this song, too, as well as the original. Apparently two brothers in the Sun City Girls band have a Lebanese grandfather who was a virtuoso musician. Maybe the brothers, like their grandfather before them, sing the song in Lebanese Arabic, but I really wouldn't know.
@@ragzthebear It's not lebanese arabic either. To my ears, it sounds more like a made-up language without really making any sense. And I guess that's what I like about Sun City Girls, they were so mysterious and definitely outsiders.
I'd say it's a little of everything. I am by means a SSG expert, but it seems they take a song like this that they've heard on the radio or in a movie, maybe even have a record. But they don't really learn/copy the song - they just play it from memory...
I played this song on repeat maybe 100 times today. something compelled me to. I didn't listen to any other song off of Rig Veda today. Just this one.
it's haunting as a mofo

The original song sounds much better, it's a moroccan song called "Lili Touil" by "Les frères Megri"
No time like the present to follow up on that. It’s a great song and “versions” are what great songs are all about.
Thank you! There is a snippet of this on Radio Morocco, right? I've been trying to pin it down for ages...
