Fortunately, technology has advanced far beyond the printing press, and 5 billion people on this planet have internet access. But when governments start banning access to websites they disagree with (like Australia tried years ago), that's when concern should turn to fear. Book banning is more of a symbol of authoritarian censorship at this stage, and really is just a waste of everyone's time and resources (as long as those words can be accessed easily on the internet, which is currently the case with most literature). However, no books should ever be banned, regardless whether or not you agree or disagree with the words written inside.

Here's a novel idea, if you disapprove of a book, don't read it. Book bans are really thought bans. Rather than let you think for yourself, people like Rhonda Meatball will mandate what you can think.

Lots of people have tried in many ways from having secret agents report any "hostile thoughts" to the current goverment and punish those thoughts 6:33 to raising children in a language where words for unwanted concepts dont exist (wich generally ended in them developing their own words for it or describing it trough words they DO know). When I was a kid, my dad took me to the library every Wednesday evening and let me get whatever I wanted. I read everything. I am still grateful to him.

Why was it even allowed in the first place than banned… what has been read cannot be unread. So if you really want to make a difference: you can find out what books they offer and see for yourself if they’re not suitable for kids to read.

These problems with them is wanting to think that kids need to read the Bible even schools but honestly while they may have children's bibles they want these kids to read the real Bible. Like um maybe not so much cuz if a religious person can admit they would give someone a kids Bible for those who they think doesn't understand the Bible then why keep the Bible in schools where they wouldn't understand it. Because last I check teachers can't go reading the Bible in regular schools because you Sunday schools for that. It be pointless to have it if you're elementary students aren't going to understand it. Might be better to just leave that out of elementary schools. If they don't want to give kids problems on how to understand the Bible. Or if they think it would just be best to include it in the teaching process which I doubt they'll do. Beyond that, the overwhelming majority of the books being banned are being flagged by pearl-clutching parents that are too afraid to actually parent their children, or let them have free will. When I was in a girl’s bible group in grade school, one of our weekly assignments was to read a part of the bible and report it. One of my favorites was/is Psalms, but I mistakenly reported I read ‘Songs’ as in Songs of Solomon and the teacher about fell out of her chair 😂

To be fair, I don't think many people have read the whole book cover to cover. Most of it is boring or incomprehensible. But I get the point. The more one reads of the Bible, the more one realizes this Yaweh entity isn't very nice, and most of the Christians they've met aren't very Christ-like.

You wouldn't want some books in a Grade School Library but a High School Library would be just fine - the bible would fit in there for me. And I would want it listed in the Fiction section lol.

I'm a Christian and my parents said the reason Christian schools exist is to keep separation of church and state, they approved of keeping church out of public school. Two of my older siblings went to public highschool, but my one older brother and I did better in smaller class settings so we were sent to a Christian Jr high/high school because the smaller class sizes, not because it was a Christian school. My Christian school even taught the importance of separation of church and state in history class and why it's a good thing.
The dystopian novels/stories warned us for years just how poorly book-banning goes. And too many people didn't listen! And now here we are, having to fight back against it because of that refusal to see such stories were *not* "too heavy-handed", they were *right on the money.* Stop the book bans. It's the only way. I thought they pleaded in school that politics and religion would not be discussed in schools. Why would a Bible be allowed? They don’t have other religious scriptures.
These problems with them is wanting to think that kids need to read the Bible even schools but honestly while they may have children's bibles they want these kids to read the real Bible. Like um maybe not so much cuz if a religious person can admit they would give someone a kids Bible for those who they think doesn't understand the Bible then why keep the Bible in schools where they wouldn't understand it. Because last I check teachers can't go reading the Bible in regular schools because you Sunday schools for that. It be pointless to have it if you're elementary students aren't going to understand it. Might be better to just leave that out of elementary schools. If they don't want to give kids problems on how to understand the Bible. Or if they think it would just be best to include it in the teaching process which I doubt they'll do. Some people want us to both sides but if they aren't why should we?

I'm a Christian and my parents said the reason Christian schools exist is to keep separation of church and state, they approved of keeping church out of public school. Two of my older siblings went to public highschool, but my one older brother and I did better in smaller class settings so we were sent to a Christian Jr high/high school because the smaller class sizes, not because it was a Christian school. My Christian school even taught the importance of separation of church and state in history class and why it's a good thing.

Its amazing how the political debate is going downhill. There is "book banning Law" , the law aplies to school libraries and whether books are suitable or not for CHILDREN. Books are not being banned, you can still buy them anywhere. Whether certains books are, or not, suitable for children is where the debate should be. and that could only be analised on a case by case basis. But the political debate is fueled with hysteria from both sides. And meanwhile, liberal medias ( such as streamings ) have been censoring or altering content to not offend GROWN UPS.
