Back in 1978, I worked in St. Petersburg FL on a 4 man construction crew. Our work truck was an old VW bus just like the one in this video. Somehow, all 4 of us and all our tools got crammed into the bus and off we went building houses.

🇺🇸👍 The green round with spikes thing is used for grave sites you put your flowers or small live plant and a little soil add water stays fresh longer. Then push into the ground while paying your respects. Grounds keepers are not to remove unless plant is dead or beyond. Lots of treasures found inside the van 👍
@ 25:04 The box stayed together! Yeah, that got me a good belly laugh. All those VW boxed parts! Even if some where the used replacement put back in like the pump. I have never come across so many in 1 VW before. My best was a VW factory box of Type 3 pan bolts, and 2 sets (8) of ball joints in mint boxes. That was my lesson in using super old rubber and watching it degrade quickly on the ball joint boots. That was a lot of weight relieved off of that rusty Bus!
I actually had a VW bus with the same camper package. And yes, that wood standout behind the front seat is original. It's part of a fold out table that acts as a counter for the kitchen area.
You must confess thats one hell of a mess! The guy could have gotten a shed for less! At least there was some treasure. Nice job cleaning that puppy out Jason.
What a great find Jason. I bet your email blew up with folks wanting to buy it! It's amazing to this 50 something that these old VW's were once worthless due to the millions of them being around back in the day. Now, the remaining survivors are so sought after and collectable. Great video of the peeling back of the junk stored in it. Thanks for the nice words about my biz Jason- Sparxwerks! That's a bastard fuel pump in the video!
First, as always, another awesome video. As I watched today though, I wondered, why… why do I watch? I then looked around my shop, noted my projects that need work, and realized what it was: catharsis. I realized no matter how much my projects frustrate me; no matter how much rust or metal work that is needed, there is alway something way worse. And my TH-cam hero Jason will always (ALWAYS) find it; and he will almost always buy it. My projects suddenly look better; there is hope! 😂 All joking aside, Keep em’ coming!
You are truly the 5150 junk man I guess you like digging out garbage vw 🚌 & you are directed to the life of vehicles big supper fan of your channel keep up the good work thanks
Hi Al , no I could not . My Tundra had a drivetrain failure while up there so Im out here now setting up my Sequoia I bought a few years ago for service . I bought another Tundra while up there and went to pick it up today ….and the frame is wasted :))).
Clearly a man of taste and style owned that van, as evidenced by the old Schlitz case. I excepted to see a squirrel come flying out of the back when you started unloading the van.
Some goodies in there Jason . Mad how much stuff we accumulate by just purchasing a Vw and having spares with it . Hope you can save this one . Good luck in pulling it out
Holy cow, the mother-lode of vintage VW spare parts! Oh hey, sweet saw-blades! 1:44 A good base for a lamp? XD Oh hey, a little old Briggs, neat! I'd totally try to restore some of those old radios... Got all the wire in there you need to rewire that bus! 20:06 Is that a meter, or part of an antique gas pump? Man, need to have Mustie go over all this footage to pick out the goods! What a treasure-trove! Find some strong scrap-metal and chain/bolt/etc the front wheels to the rears, then pull it out as a unit?
Great day for VW vids. Started the day with Musty1 reviving a 74 Thing and end with 5150mx picking a 60 Bus for vintage parts! Can’t wait to see if you are going to be able to keep it in one piece.
It looks to be a parts store on wheels. Jeez, hope you beat the storm, but then again where's the chain! Really looking forward to seeing that Vw bus rolling again. Good luck/ love the adventure!
Well, I've seen worse, but not by much. And there are plenty of repair sections, chassis pieces, etc, available to fix it all up. The Finns/Norwegians, have done some amazing jobs; complete rebuilds of the chassis up. 👍👍👍
Hi Jay you have got a better collection than most Volkswagen dealership what's happened to the bikes yz left everybody hanging did it run and the cr with water pump that looked like cereal and the best of all rm it's like waiting for the lottery results must be on here soon lol

After this Bus comes out I can promise you this " YOU AIN'T SEEN NOTHIN' YET ".....it only gets INSANE after this one. I've questioned my sanity multiple times on the next Bus rescue
I saw you take out a pressure regulator for two propane tanks. You tossed it into the scrap metal pile. I bet that goes with that bus you should retrieve it because you’re probably going to want it later.
I can see now Jason, why you couldn’t jack it up !. There must be more weight in parts and junk inside the bus, than the bus actually weighs empty. The conversion is an interesting one. I’ve not seen that side cupboard installed before, over the side window. Good luck with the removal of the bus. It will find a home I’m sure. Plenty of dedicated restorers will take that on.
The steering wheel has a spinner on it Musty1 must have worked on it in the past. Give the boat plate to Musty1 he has a boat. You got some good parts in some questionable boxes. But the boy will help you put them in the right order after his fishing trip. Fish on.
This property looks like the one near me. I don't think he has any cars though. Lots of heavy machinery though. Old steam shovels, larger trucks, but I've never walked onto the property to see what else is in there.
👍👌👏 Congratulations! 🎉 Lots and lots of still usable Volkswagen parts in this rotten bus. 2) But what? Really? Last time you jacked this rust bucket up with all that stuff/weight in it??? 😱🙈 I simply can't believe it. Best regards, luck and especially health health to all of you.
haha, you have been around long enough to know I don't always go about things the best way. I didn't want to empty it on the property because I didn't want to make more of a mess for the owners. Also I had 2 dirtbikes in the truck so no room to take any of it . I'm heading back up in the Sequoia ( bought 3 years ago and just reg'd it...put 10 miles it , it's ready for the 8 hour trip lol ) to finish the rescue Tuesday
@@5150mxVW Okay, I see 🙈 😁 ;-). Yeah, you are absolutely right, Sir. Your rescues have often be... uhm... let's say kind of chaotic. You have a bunch or parts there off a 1948-1952 Ford tractor. I wish that I lived near you because I’d buy them from you. Anything else that is painted dark red is probably Ford tractor, too.

At 2:08 in the video, you threw out the tent poles for the side tent. Those might be the most valuable part of this find.
Holy shit he just whipped them into the bushes?!?! WTF painful to watch.
5 seconds later: “whoa we got an air cleaner!” Lol
The parts were worth the find.

I'll bet you it doesn't
He has a friend who is teaching him to weld, it will have a new frame and floor, stay tuned.
Nice find!
M1 owes you a solid..I seen him pushing a VW he had all the correct form so looked like a pro even with stuck breaks so your a good teacher

yes, the stakes in the bottom are for uneven ground and to keep wind from blowing the plant over.
Yikes 😳 what a task! Definitely a time capsule there! Good luck!

This one was a winner just for all the oem parts in original boxes.
Excellent video & amazing find Jason on this VW bus and bet have lots extras parts make one needs to !
Thats amazing, lots of good stufs inside.
You must confess thats one hell of a mess! The guy could have gotten a shed for less! At least there was some treasure. Nice job cleaning that puppy out Jason.
The black metal poles you took out the back with the rubbish might have been for the original tent, worth a check before they go with the scrap metal.
I just saw that and gasped a little. Pretty sure that is exactly what they are! Go back and get 'em if you have not already realized it!
duude
I agree about the black metal poles, definitely tent poles! And the water tank was original in the so-23 under the seat.🧙🏻♂️🚐✌🏻

Definitely a good idea to get all of that weight out of there. And some cool finds to boot!
You need a truck just to haul all that stuff! And then you'll need a team of VW folks to sift through it all. Can't wait to see the pull!
