Taemin's "Want" is one of those songs that the lyrics take the song and performance up to the next level. :D The lyrics give the song and performance a whole other feel and it helps to explain the images and story you see being told in the MV. (If you didn't have the CC captions on, you should go back and watch it with the lyrics.) Many people think that "Want" has a vampire vibe, and I can see where some might get the vampire feel from this MV. After all, one of Taemin's nicknames is SHINee's eternal vampire because in some performances and MVs, the way he looks and the aesthetic of the performance gives him a vampire image. However, in "Want" Taemin is supposed to be portraying Lucifer. That's why he seems to have a love affair with those snakes. (The ones he is holding are real snakes.) And, like Lucifer, he is supposed to be seducing the audience and the girl using his devilish powers, and it is why his dance moves look like he is slithering like a snake, etc. Taemin is a devout Catholic, and most of this MV showcases his faith as it tells the story using numerous Biblical references. "Move" came out first, "Want" was his follow up album and song. The whole vibe for "Want" was designed the way it was because he proved that the public was receptive to this new more subtle style of choreography that only Taemin can expertly pull off. Fun fact: One of Taemin's backup dancers for his "Want" MV is Yoo JiMin (Karina) who is a member of SM's new girl group aespa. She participated in this song as a rookie trainee even before aespa's debut. (Aespa debuted Nov. 17.) She was also a backup dancer for some live performances of the song. "Want" was, once again, choreographed by Sugawara Koharu. You can see her signature style in this dance. She has worked with Taemin a lot over the years. She is the one that also choreographed Taemin's dance for his songs "Move," "Flame of Love" and "Sayonara Hitori," etc. Taemin has always been known for saving his energy for where it counts the most -- for live performances and for filming MVs -- dance practices for him are literally dance practices, so he is just allowing himself to feel the dance and get in the groove. The snake on Taemin's shoulders WAS real, he said it was really cute and since it was colder in the studio it kept going under his jacket. Never been jealous of a snake before but here we are..... lol. If it's possible, could you maybe talk a little louder while you're watching the videos? I really struggle to hear what you're saying sometimes. I have partial deafness so when there's background noise I have trouble making out words. You don't have to cater to me or anything though. Taemin is the king of seduction but also the king of cuteness, his duality drives me insane. I also live for that wet look on Taemin.... It's hot af lol.
