I always find Eno to be an astounding lyricist. Information: "Eno took The Winkies as his backing band in February 1974, on his first and only solo tour. The outing ended after the sixth date of the schedule in Guilford, after which Eno was rushed to the hospital suffering from a collapsed lung. In March 1974 the John Peel BBC radio show broadcast four songs from the February 1974 performances - "The Paw Paw Negro Blowtorch", a medley of "Totalled" (I’ll Come Running) plus "Baby's on Fire" and a cover version of "Fever".
I'll find a place somewhere on the carpet I'm gonna waste the rest of my days To all the dreadful things you might ask me Condemned to life as an ashtray I want to be your silver service I want to be your smallest room And when you have to keep an engagement Just leave me here, I'll wait in the gloom I'll come running to tie your shoe
1975 was a watershed year for BE...he went more ambient music & cut his hair....lol btw..the uploaded version of Ill Come Running is a live demo from BE & The Winkies collab on BBC!
Eno is one of the guys in Popmusic who will never gets what he deserves, his work with Roxy Music, his first amazing records, his work with Bowie,Byrne,Manzanera, 801 , his Ambient Work, as a producer he is responsible for about 10 Classic albums ( i picked a number ,for me all his work is classic) U2 knows why ...
@@_Clancy_ You know, I played that on blast in my car last month - during my commute - and holy smokes. I'd forgotten how - it's just genius. All of it.
Such a rockin' version! It's not at all the winsome feel that I find so appealing on the album version. The out tro is like the 801 version. New angles are also interesting.
Aftertaste is rather bitter with light medicinal notes on the nose. Spicy overtones are appreciated with Christmascomings. Overall a somewhat disappointing imperial stout.
Couldn't possibly agree more... check out the demos & early versions for Loaded, esp. Rock & Roll th-cam.com/video/RAJJlD2tnGo/w-d-xo.html (...note uploader's username :-) )
I think it is with the Winkies - but it has that raw demo feel, yes? And I also enjoyed those outtakes and demos Townshend's put out over the years. I tire of Daltrey. (spelling?)
He's got his Winkies vocal production going on here. Love Eno. Today - my daughter begins his online course!
The joy is always in the work and not the accolades

W John Cale Phil manzanera Nico and others. Eno , yeah!
@@williamsigmonlove4718 Ayers Cale Nico Eno Live in 74? I have the album - I hope. Some albums are in storage, and it's time to get them.
About Eno's lyrics: I'm glad to find someone who gets it. Mother Whale Eyeless? Wow.
This version is bloody brilliant!
Just another reminder of how refined and brilliant this track became on AGW.
Man! That was so much fun that I almost didn’t miss Fripp’s beautiful solo!
Same here - but that solo brings me to tears sometimes.

This is with the Winkies (Phil Rambow, Brian Turrington etc)

Work with devo
The Winkies.
Back in the day, I used to have this on bootleg vinyl.
Great find. Like a punky Hawkwind version. Really good.
this is the Winkies band version of BE's ICR...a smashing version imo!!
CONDEMNED TO LIFE AS YOUR ASHTRAY

STUNNING!
Awesome, ty this is so great... Almost an outake for taking tiger mountain

What a find!!!
Brian is the best
I love the demos from such minds as Eno and Townshend (of The Who).

This isn't a demo.

INCREDIBLE
Who is the drummer who contributes to this magnificent song where Brian Eno is turning the concept of a popping upside down!
Mike Desmarais?
Demo? Isn't this the one from the John Peel session.
Has this been released ever?
@@dch888 its on Dali's Car
😌 great
This is my all time favorite Prince song!
Lol that's so funny! X
Брайан Ино мой друг, только он об этом не знает))
WOW
This is a Peel session, not a demo
Whaaaat!!!!!!!
It sounds like 801!
Yes - help me figure this out then - which 801 song is the opening and closing from? Or is it Quiet Sun?
This is great. Too bad The Winkies never did anything after this. A great little trio
wow
Y'all ever listened to 8:01?
こっちの方が良いな😄
vary rare thanks
This is way better than the album version
I do think the same.
no way Jose!
I disagree. The piano and less rock aspects of the album suit the song better in my opinion.
There are aspects of this version I love so much more than on the version on AGW.. Is this one available on record anywhere?
@@philallwright3351 Agreed. And I have it on a CD titled Dali's Car. Has several tracks, all Eno with The Winkies.
so 801
The Winkies
What 801 or Quiet Sun or something or other - song is the opening and closing taken from?
Ty Segall could do an incredible cover of this song
Yeah
why you don't do it?
:O oh yes!!!!
Prefer the other one.
Yeah but this is GREAT too
Garage rock Eno??? Brian was embracing his mid 60s youth...wow is this like a daffy Bubblegum Rock band meets garage band huffing ether 😂
Have a blast and google Eno and the Winkies. Apologies if you already know of them.
