    I’m doing a bunch of work to the same exact bike. I’ve found it’s more difficult than my old ZX6 to work on and the Haynes manual for the FZR is not nearly as good. I’ve referenced a couple of your videos now for issues I was having. Thanks so much for making these, you’re a legend bro

      Ah cheers, yeah the Haynes manual can be a little vague at times, sometimes just seeing it play out before you do it is so helpful!

    So excited for the next episode!
    Sorry for your stolen stuff ☹ but happy that it did not really stop you. Congratulations for the proper garage!

      Cheers, yeah it was a real blow, and only a few weeks before I moved annoyingly. The new space definitely softens it though!

    Ah the ole carb strip and rebuild. Whenever the subject of working on my bikes carbs comes up, my mates will always do that sharp intake of air through pursed lips, similar to that thing a tradesman will do when he's about to tell you how much something is going to cost to get fixed. Loving the vids, keep 'em coming!

      Yeah I know what you mean, and every time I've stripped and cleaned carbs, I've gone a little deeper each time. So before you know it it's all quite straightforward, and clever. Thanks for the support!

      Once I did one set and realised how straightforward it was i laughed at myself for being apprehensive about it for so long, best thing i bought for doing carbs was a (relatively) cheap ultrasonic cleaner. And a multi compartment tray :-)

    Very nice tutorial.
    I just picked up the same exact year and model today. Sitting since 98.

      Awesome! Is it in good condition? Despite not being run?

    Your exhaust silencer should mount on the inside of the pillion footrest, nice videos by the way, there aren’t many on the EXUP

      Cheers Chris, I hadn’t double checked this so that’s helpful to know. It’s coming off again to get a clean up so I’ll correct it then 👍🏻

    I’m just working through this series now. Brilliant channel! Just one question where do you buy your parts?

    • @tomsworkshopprojects
      @tomsworkshopprojects  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cheers Jack, I get most OEM parts from Fowlers or CMSNL and a few pattern bits from WeMoto, then it’s eBay or similar for second had spares 👍🏻

    I bet the oil residue burning off those headers smelt like victory! Nice job and keep 'em coming. Sorry to hear about the theft, that never feels nice. The new garage should help take the sting out of it though!

      @tomsworkshopprojects  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely softened the blow! The painful part was some of the tools were handed down from my Dad and were more sentimental than anything else. Yeah the smell was pretty nice, of course running rather lean with no airbox on too!

      Thank you! It can be tricky to show the smaller details on camera whilst also being able to see in real life! I haven't I'm afraid, I'm not sure if this 2005 one is similar to yous? th-cam.com/video/s0mgIH7OGXs/w-d-xo.html

      Cheers! It was one of the Amazon unbranded ones, with a 3L tub which I now wish I'd gone bigger on. Maybe next time!

      Awesome, nice that it was a bit of a story behind it too. I’ve got most of my parts from eBay, WeMoto, Fowlers and Yambits.

    What type of cleaning solution do you use in the plastic bags when using the ultrasonic cleaner?

    • @tomsworkshopprojects
      @tomsworkshopprojects  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think for these parts I used a solution called “Carbsonic” which worked ok, though I didn’t dilute it as much as it said. But I’ve also used a water based degreaser like Jizer too which works well at warm temperatures

    Hey man, got a weird question for you
    I got a Vw polo with a 1.4 16v swap yeah, but it’s running YZR1000 carb, I’m having issues that at full throttle it’s over fuelling, been told to rejet them but not to sure where to get jets and was size to do

    • @tomsworkshopprojects
      @tomsworkshopprojects  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds nice man, you can get replacement main jets from a few places. WeMoto.com will do them if you search for the bike the carbs are from. In terms of deciding what size to go with it’s probably best to get it to a rolling road/dyno and they can quickly find the best sizes to get the fuelling bang on.
