Wonderful to see Big Bird, and such a fun character. Thank you Jim Henson, for your beloved characters, and to Sesame Street! You reached a lot of children and adults! 🥰🥰🥰👏👏👍👍
Anyone interested in knowing lots more about the mystery guest should check out “I am Big Bird”, a documentary about Carroll Spinney and his portrayal of Big Bird! Highly recommended!! 👍🏻🍒
@@RonGerstein Jack Cassidy was a abusive father. He couldn’t take the fact that David was more successful than him. BTW there were no drugs in David Cassidy’s system when he died.
I enjoy the guests demonstrating for what they are known for. Some of them were very informative. I've heard that John Daly would not let that happen on his version of What's My Line.
It was very frustrating that they always seemed to have to cut the mystery guest segment short on the syndicated show, before the panelists had enough time to try to guess (presumably because the syndicated show had to allow for a few more commercials) They should have eliminated one of. the "regular" games to allow enough time for the mystery guest game.
19:48 - From this question, I think Larry (un)intentionally threw them off by saying straight that Big Bird doesn't talk. He should have been better off saying that he does speak on TV but decided not to speak during the Mystery Guest round just to make it harder.
@@henryfarrell7211 Or Big Bird (rather, Caroll Spinney) could have disguised his voice; that said, I think Spinney's voice was distinctive enough for them to decide not to let Big Bird speak.
If they hadn't spent so much time showcasing whatever a guest sells or deals with, wolves in this case, they wouldn't constantly be running out of time to end a game abruptly. With Wally Bruner they waste time by having the panel guess the occupation of four members from the audience. There's hardly any game being played. I much prefer the original. They have banter and jokes, but time isn't wasted.
I wish we could’ve seen the looks on the panelist when the wolf was there I would’ve liked to of seen the reaction you can hear them but you can’t see them
Larry Blyden was murdered. On the commentary track of the 2009 DVD release of Blyden's TV production of "What Makes Sammy Run" (1959), his co-star Barbara Rush says that Blyden was actually carjacked in Morocco and killed on the spot for his vehicle
One thing I don't like about BUZZR. BUZZR would cut out the entire panel introductions (from 0:22 to 1:56) way too many long ads for charities pushing monthly donors (very annoying).
ive never understood how this show worked, it seem so silly and pointless, it was really more about seeing celebritys than anything, cause the guest is always famous, and usually the panel knows them or knows who is in town or who has recent thing they are promoting.... so not much guessing involved, and this was just dumb, run out of time, so the game is over lol
The show was a blend of shits and giggles, education, comedy, a way to kill a half-hour . . . as were most game shows. There was a reason we called TV the boob-tube.
I miss you Caroll Spinney. Thank you for Big Bird and Oscar. 😢
We will miss Caroll Spinney.
He looks just like Jim Hensen.
Many thanks to Caroll for educating and entertaining children as well as adults over the years. He will be missed.
The early '70s were quite the cultural mix: Henry Morgan (a radio star of the '40s) meets a Muppet. Great television!

I love the point made about the danger/ confusion of wolf and dog hybrids. Plus, actually showing Carroll a bonus!.
RIP Caroll Spinney

R.I.P. Caroll Spinney. Gone but will never be forgotten
May Caroll Spinney RIP.
And may Jack Cassidy continue rot in hell. The way he treated his son David was deplorable
He will be missed

Big Bird!!!! I've been looking for this forever!!!!!
Gotta love the compass & square in the background. Well played boys.
The theme alone and the animated opening bring back so many fond memories. I was only 11 in '73! Thanks for posting.
I was twelve
I was 10
If we're all telling our ages, I was 11 too, back then.
I really appreciated the impromptu wolf lecture.
In honor of Caroll, who passed away last year. Thanks for the sunny days.
In honor of Caroll who retired this year
And recently passed... (RIP)
Arlene: "it's a poppy!"
Arlene again: "it's a POPPY!"
You tell 'em! Roses are so cliché!
LOL! She's the absolute best ever!
I’m going to have an entire yard full of poppies in heaven. I hope Arlene comes to see me.
Arlene Francis is one of those people I think would have been pretty amazing to meet and a real treasure to know or work with on a regular basis.
Is a poppy an animal?🐕

I cannot agree more. So so disappointing.
I really appreciate the time they spent with Tony and the wolves, and letting people know about their importance to the ecosystem.
Met mr. Spinney in nj he was in costume and when I thanked him for his work he gave me one of Big bird's feathers 😊rip
Big Bird was awesome on What's My Line!!
RIP Carol, Jethro and Maria
Those wolves are adorable.

He should have been better off saying that he does speak on TV but decided not to speak during the Mystery Guest round just to make it harder.
That is exactly what he should have said because if Big Bird would have spoke they would have recognized him immediately

Wow, the wolves are gorgeous!!
Caroll Spinney was a great wonderful mentor for me when I was in my teens. Things change

The wolf thing is interesting.
I agree, though, they ought to have made more time for Carroll Spinney. They tried to cram too much into one episode.
The who's who was also done by larry

RIP Mr. Caroll Spinney
I hope that wolf didn’t run into big bird in the back somewhere.
Rest in Peace: Caroll Spinney

R.I.P. Carroll Spinney 🐦💛🗑️👹
Henry Morgan such a brute
I think that having Big Bird's name superimposed on the TV screen was unnecessary. Anyone who couldn't recognize Big Bird has never watched TV before.
This is when Sesame Street was still relatively new
Love the wolves ❤️
Why did they dumb it down by telling you what field the occupation was? Takes so much of the fun out of it.
Caroll Spinney recently stepped down from portraying Big Bird-He's 84.
And passed away recently.
@17:53 to see what I'm sure we all clicked this to see.
I think Arlene had, what I would call a mild face-lift, not one of those, these days that make the eyes bug out.
Arlene Francis was the classiest lady ever
Arlene was the best.
I'm sure Jack Cassidy fancied himself as charming and urbane, but in actuality he was edgy, caddish and unpleasant.
I thought the same thing… seemed like such an ass
@jasonhurd4379: Are you edgy and caddish because you’re unpleasant.
and bipolar.
Cute
Sesame Street parodied this show as What's My Part?
We got robbed by wolves

😊
is this episode from GSN
By the end of 1975 Larry Blyden and Jack Cassidy both would have died under somewhat mysterious circumstances.
Actually, Jack died the following year.
Of the panelists and host, only Sherrye Henry is still living.
Wish I could have a pet wolf.
@sueoorbeck4887: Be more selective with your boyfriends and let them howl.
Big Bird is a cookcoo
The first contestant could be Woody Allen's cousin. LoL! Not a doppelganger though.
Soupy wasn't on this episode?
Thankfully
Has anyone ever noticed Henry Morgan's nose??
Like...wtf

It also tell me that Buzzr have problems getting advertisers.
@@mikevanriel7573 At least they still AIR the old classics, unlike Game Show Network (or as I call it now, the Steve Harvey Channel!)
They finally ran out of mystery guests.
No, since this show continued until 1975 with more mystery guests.
Did anyone else notice that Caroll Spinney isn't really left-handed when he signed in?
I wonder why Arlene chose to appear in a white pillowcase instread of a dress?
I thought Caroll Spinney was a women
