Nice, honest review. I made my own version with a wider longer chimney/flue. My only real complaint is that it is very inefficient on fuel. It takes masses of wood for a small cooking area. If you don't keep the fuel up , it gets smokey as the air flow isn't sufficient. I have gone to a wedge type flat pack pit, It's a winner, its a bbq, rotisserie and fire pit. $150 .
I have one too. The extra chimney pieces are a must. as it is a smoky little pig, the extra lenght of chimney keeps the smoke away from you. i also have the leg extensions which put it to the perfect hight when sitting next to it. I experimented with extra air intakes around the bottom but that didn't help. ultimately it needs a 3inch chimny.
+Aussie Outdoor Reviews the extra length of the legs is definitely a good idea it makes it better to sit by and for cooking but have a look at Bunnings because they sell the same type of piping which I believe has the thread on it and would fit the ozPig the pipes a cup to various sizes
Thanks for commenting Ben, it didn't take very long for the paint to burn off and start to get some surface rust. I have since wire brushed and repainted 3 times. Kill Rust rattle cans are the best paint I have tried so far. Matte black exhaust Hi temp paint was crap. The ozpig must be kept under the patio when not in use.
+Jon Carter I wish I had the gear to make my own. I would definitely make the flue bigger in diameter to improve the drawing. Its a pain cooking snags and having to crack the plate open to get more air and keep the temp regular, especially when burning softwoods.
Hey there I have an oz pig and its a piece of shit 50mm chimney is to restrictive need to be 3 inch And the ash grate needs to be up off the bottom to make it go proper Disappointed really
Your not wrong, check out the series 2 Ozpig, they have increased the diameter of where the flue meets the body of the pig, vented door, leg extensions and a new designed warming plate. No update to the ash grate though!

Do you reckon the $30 for the legs are worth it or have a go at making your own?

Great I have a bunnings opened near me Ill see if I cant get some piping.
what about the finish on it? how long/how much use did it take before the coating diminished and it needed a touch up?

I wire brushed the scale off and then sprayed it with canola or vege oil when hot and it comes up quite good and is a lot easier than painting.

How did the one go that you made John. For me, it is a once in a life time purchase... worth it. Would have made one if I could weld.
Good informative vid, sound is too low and exposure is bad & backlit, can't see a great deal.
