5:36 the polka dot romper with butt cape is SO cute on you. I can't believe you found that. It's the perfect solution for when you are not comfortable wearing shorts in public- the back and sides of your legs are still covered but you have all the comfort of shorts. AND you can sit on a hot car seat or park bench without burning your butt. Adorable and practical. Butt capes need to become a thing.

For the past couple of years I have had two wardrobes. One lived at my mom's house and consisted of old clothes (I think I still have jeans I bought 15 years ago) and heavy winter garments. The other wardrobe lived in whichever warm climate area I happened to be studying/working in. Now that my postdoc position is over and I am temporarily living at home again, I suddenly have all of my clothes in one place and no space to put everything. Part of me wants to purge my clothes to make room, part of me thinks that is too much effort, and my inner dragon is urging me to hoard all of my clothes, because I might someday need those jeans from Middle School.

Hi Rachel! I cannot tell you how much you inspire me everyday. I started to make up my own style in 7th grade and at first I didn't care what people said about me. But when I was a freshman the bullies really got me.
Basically I would be history/Disney/character/bound(?) on a daily basis.
So when the bullying really started to get to me I stopped. I went to H&M and bought a whole bunch of sweats and wore those every day for about a two weeks .
I had been addicted to your videos and I watched your hip dips video. It had actually come a out a few months before I watched it.
Anyway it touched me so much that I realized I was so bored. So I actually burned it in my back yard

The Zara dress and the Victorian inspired one after it are literally everything. I need them in my life. I have such a hard time finding things in thredUP, which is unfortunate because I love the idea. I almost always have to have bust measurements since I’m rather large chested. I think my favourite part thing about your videos is how the humour and honestly just makes everything so relatable. Sometimes I find myself getting so intimidated by incredible looking vintage folks on insta, and they always look so damn good, and I manage to convince myself that I don't fit in there (obviously this is not their fault, my brain can just be a jerk). But you're style is just *chef's kiss*, but you're also so funny and aren't afraid to share or laugh about the bits that aren't glamorous, and it gets me all inspired and shit.

This is a genius idea on so many levels. Watching you have so much fun with your prizes inspired some additional thoughts on your selections.
1. That rust sweater is gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. Do you have some outrageous necklace to put with it? Something maybe Aztec-y or other south-of-the-border oversized, inspirational piece? That collar just screams for it.
2. The gingham check minidress. I share your sense of being too uncovered, although I'm 72 and SHOULD be. You, OTOH, are young, beautiful, and have a spectacular figure. That said, modesty comes in all forms and nobody should ever be pressured to wear something that makes them uncomfortable. If you feel the hem's too short how about some wide eyelet trim? You can find it inexpensively on old bedspreads and curtains (at least that's where I got mine.) If it's 7" or wider you not only have your longer skirt, but some makeshift sleeves as well!
3. You were just right on the strapless orange print dress. I join you in mourning the lack of fullness in maxi lengths, and the white overskirt is a great choice, but why not hike it up so the underskirt shows too? The fine and ancient art of skirt-hiking can be accomplished by several easy-to-less easy ways; the easiest being the dressmaker's secret weapon--SAFETY PINS!
4. The henly. Well, not so much a henly lover, but you did great with it and now I have ideas what to do with my awful pink one. Put it with a vest, belt, trousers, and a fedora and we can go explore archaeological sites for living mummies.

I totally get the whole shifting style thing. I used to be all about the rockabilly/1950s. Then it was more vintage (rather than rockabilly) and 40s. Now, it’s more late Victorian and Edwardian.
I just want all the long skirts and poofy, lacy and ruffly blouses! And long neck bows, stand up collars, the poofy sleeves. But it’s pretty difficult to find that style, especially in my size, so I’m just gonna have to make it all myself, I reckon.
Also, I really, really want that brown pinafore. It’s gorgeous! And that Zara dress, on its own looks very Edwardian school teacher, which is amazing. As is that black dress! And the 1940s style playsuit is just adorable! I don’t have the confidence to wear it, but I definitely want to look at other people wearing it. Because it’s adorable. Nice haul!

Love all the outfits! Especially the black dress and the navy and white polka a dot jobbie. So 40s looking. In fact, the navy and white polka a dot play-dress looks exactly like one my mom had from the 40s, (that I used to borrow/steal) from her closet. Great haul, Rachel! Kudos and Enjoy! I was rummaging around TKMaxx (TJMaxx) before all this pandemic business, looking for earthy coloured jumpers (sweaters), when I pulled out something orange. Love them all but most especially the black dress. On another note, you inspired me today. I bought a vintage sheet second hand but like new. I'm going to make a day dress (house dress). They were popular during WWll. Flour companies sold their flour in fabric sacks. One would only need two sacks of the same fabric to make a child's dress or shirt but they might need to find several sacks of the same fabric to make a day dress. A little history for you! Thanks for the inspiration!
