Graham meets Roothy - West Australia, the first trip.
People have been asking me to find this old classic - the first time WA contributor Graham Cahill was introduced on camera. What follows is a trip where Graham lends Roothy his Shorty Nissan and Roothy naturally takes plenty of care of it - not.....

I really enjoy watching the original show. No competition about how cool your car is, just building friendship and sharing time in the Aussie bush with ya mates.

i remember back when theses old patrols where everywhere now there not so common, all the ones you find are either rusted out to the roots or beaten to high heavens. makes me tear up seeing the old show, i can still remember Christmas 8 years ago watching these on the disc sets the old thin plastic cover ones. i loved every minute of footage, the Hustle and effort that went in to those is 10fold to what we see today. thanks for building my childhood roothy i owe it all too you..... merry Christmas to you and your family have a safe one.

I am a loyal Roothy fan, in my opinion never bite the hand that feeds you. It was pretty obvious Roothy was stragically asked to step away or whatever so Graham could take over4wd action or be the main man. It Roothy stride he took it on the chin and moved on... full respect 🙏 for the bloke keep up the good work buddy Australia loves you.. and appreciates you experience and commitment to the 4wd industry..because of you heaps of people got into camping and 4wd driving and cooking, exploring etc.

Or did Roothy, Hasbeen and Johno decide to take a punt on their own doing LowRange.
I remember Roothy announcing his leaving to concentrate on the Don't Lock The Gates mission, and 12 months later Low Range came out. Was there a no competition clause for 12 months.?
Many questions we will never know for sure.

@Steve Graham Roothy is the gentleman he is and loves the 4wd industry camping etc big business corporations have taken over the industry because big money etc can be made and people's ambitions and ego's are on full show... for everyone to see. True character of a person is always exposed. It doesn't matter what anyone says proof is in the pudding as they say... Sometimes it best just to walk away and let people do what they want. Having your pride intact and reputation is everything. Least said is best said.

I remember when this guy Graham over took my stock 60 series on Brand Highway in that thing. I could hear his muddies singing on the tarmac as he passed me And I just looked at my passenger and shook my head and said look at this goose. Then I saw him on a 4WD Action dvd And thought I Know that Pootrol and the when I saw the guy that owned it I just thought. Yep it all makes sense now.
