What a warm lovely woman. Still💕 When I was about 13, our family of 11 was gifted a lovely surprise Christmas from our social workers. I remember our parents didn't know what the surprise was either, but they dressed us all ( 9 kids! ) in our Sunday Best and we pulled in our Van and went Downtown to the Pontchartrain Hotel. I'd never been anyplace so Grand!! We were shown to a penthouse suite with the most amazing panaramic view of the city!! They served us yummy gormet hot chocolate and eggnog that I can't still taste 26 years later. We still didn't know why we're here. Then staff began to come in with gifts!! Just MOUNDS and MOUNDS of presents!! We began to clap and jump my Momma had both hands covering her face with tears and my dad was just stunned! The social workers came in and we thought this was the surprise!! But NOPE! They were so excited and secretive saying this was only part! A knock came at the door and they all hopped up and we're so excited we were like " what's next?!" The door opened and it was ANITA BAKER!!! My Momma SCREAMED!!! LOL This lovely lady had arranged this surprise after hearing somehow about our humble family in Detroit. I'll never forget that Xmas. She went out of her way to make our Xmas one to remember. We never ever forgot it!!
