Firstly, nice build, however a few things stood out, firstly how come there are two to-220 transistors on the board at 2:20 . are they paralleled up or are you using a fancier push pull driver? Where can I find a schematic of your build? Also what resonance freuqency is it operating at and to what impedance did you design your primary/secondary coil? What current is drawn by the circuit, and what is the efficency? Surely that heatsink is not going to last in CW mode. Lastly "worlds most powerful is a bit of an overstatement but still a nice build :P!
Hi Platinum, thanks for asking. So I stated in the video, while showing the two transistors, that they are wired in parallel to increase performance and increase longevity. As for the schematic - I also showed the exact schematic in the video. It is wired identical to the shown schematic. The heat sink gets hit after about 15 seconds. That’s good enough for me. As for the title... there is no other handheld rechargeable pancake slayer coil on the internet. Mine is the first 😋
@@PlasmaChannel In that case I stand corrected about the first in the world :) ! I don't mean to come off as rude but i only saw the schematic at the 3:05ish minute mark, the critical values of the parts such as the winding ammount for the primary and secondary coils was sadly not shown, however the description did list the parts used. Also, as for the longevity and stability of the circuit I doubt there will be much gain in this aspect as the 3055 transistor can switch quite high currents, and in fact you may be doing more harm than good if only one biasing resistor is used as the dies can have various gain factors, which will negate the benefit of using two transistors and can lead to a catastrophic failiure from a thermal runaway effect especially on a small heatsink. As for the batteries its cool to have it portable granted, but that creates a difficulty with grounding leeding to smaller breakout. Lastly how exactly are the coils wound? is it a bifilar design or are the primary and secondary coils on other sides of the acrylic?
@@PlasmaChannel I think it will fair well. Tesla designed it for this purpose (in some pictures of lab you see large versions) but this of course depends on the dielectric strength of insulation of the wires and air spacing.
Hi FG, thanks for the compliments. I didnt do a build because i'm getting a little tired of people stealing my build ideas, and selling them for profit.
Hi Dayton! Thanks a bunch. Yeah, what's interesting is the flat coil was particularly sensitive to turns ratio. I got these results using 4 turns on the primary. Bringing it down to 2 turns causes open breakout to occur, but the sparks are cold to the touch. No power behind them at all. And they cant be stretched out. Its amazing how much current the arcs carry using this design.
An easy option to combat that would be to immerse the coils in oil or vacuum pot them in resin (second option not as easy but the vacuum is required to ensure the resin fully penetrates the gaps with no air gaps or air in the resin)
@Heads Mess An understandable predicament. I guess I've just been lucky; I've used the same camera for years now. Its gotten up close and personal with explosions, thermite, high voltage, microwaves, etc. That camera is a trooper! P.S. I think we can *all* agree that high voltage looks much better in real life than on film :)
Sweet seeet sparks! I have one od those 6 inches tube color tvs and i was planing to make a poors man osciloscope once i cant buy one, but once it will be poor quality you think it is a good material to make a high voltage project or better to use a bit tube tv one to it?
I have found that adding a diode from the gate to drain (using a mosfet) with the cathode connected to the drain, greatly improves these circuits. At least with helical coils, might work with this one.
Wow super cool idea to make the secondary coil pancake type💯💯 You are king of creativity... One day you will sure built something that will shock the world...🔥🔥🔥
How many windings for secondary? also, could you provide a better schematic? no resistor value or position of base, emitter and collector. also no polarity on battery
Thomas Stanly Curtis wrote a book on High Frequency Apparatus back in 1920s. One of his projects was a pancake Tesla(Oudin) coil. His book is for free on Google books. Chapter VIII is the design of a pancake Oudin coil. Everything old is new again! Somewhere in there is how a kicking coil works. Kicking coils are used in vacuum/insulation checkers today. Electro -Technic products makes several of these. It's great that you are revisiting this technology with a modern twist! The flat coil is different, but didn't Tesla experiment with those too?
Interesting info! Yeah, I didnt think I was bringing back anything old....just didnt see any flat slayer exciter coils online and wanted to make my own!
@@PlasmaChannel That's fantastic! I enjoy your videos and wish that I could make some of these myself. There is something about the purely electric and mechanical ways of making sparks that appeals to me though, such as spark gap Tesla coils and kicking coil devices. Keep up the good work.
Those things are the bane of my life, I'm currently counting turns and layers on a 1920's model that I'm restoring. All that impregnated paper insulation is making it so much fun! 🤣🤣
Loved it! :) Do you need special transistors for this to handle such high frequencies? When I did this with a single transistor, it overheated too quickly.

Hi David, been quite busy! I tried it right now though, and the flame was mildly drawn to the bridge. It was hard to tell though if it was merely due to regional effects of convection being affected and obstructed by the water, or, if the fire was actually attracted. I''ll have to try agian.
I expected some build info, as I do not have any ideas currently how did you prevent that coil from unwinding or the secondary from arcing over to the primary...
Hi Sasszem. Why would it unwind? It is connected to the bolt in the middle, and connected to the rest of the circuit physically on the outside. Also, why would the primary arc to the secondary? Cheers
@@PlasmaChannel Well, for the first one I ment during winding. How did you secure it during winding? Did you wind it while the acrylic plates were installed, but only with the center screw? That's the only way I can imagine it. For the second, I messed up primary & secondary. I can not see your primary in the video. Is the acrylic separating it from the secondary? If not, they can arc over.

Correct. Spark gaps only work for high votlage primary circuits. This primary circuit only runs off 24 volts....not nearly high enough to form a spark and operate a spark gap primary. The transistors act as the spark gap, and do it very efficiently.
You should use a small brass pyramids on top I think it'd be interesting to see considering that when you put the multiple LEDs in the path of the field they lit up in a cone shape
Bro , Have you experimented with a modified joule thief + magnetic detector? to turn on lamps at a greater distance, it's an idea that occurred to me but I don't know if it's possible
3:00 Transistor is both turned on and off by feedback from secondary. Resistor is only for start, You can remove it, when coil is already working. Your diagram lacks of capacitor connected parallel to the secondary coil. It's the one of most important things, You can't miss, because if You do it, the diagram is a bullshit. This capacitor and secondary are an LC oscillator, that makes an induced voltage sine, and it defines it's frequency.
No capacitor is needed. I found adding any sort of capacitance reduced my output drastically. The schematic I showed is exactly how I built this. Also, the LC circuit is only one component to the frequency. It is also self regulated by drawn power and feedback via the secondary.
@@PlasmaChannel I don't mean you need a capacitor in the circuit You built. You drew a diagram explaining how the circuit works, and missed the capacitor, which is not an individual part, soldered to circuit. It's a parasitic capacitance. Frequency depends only on inductor and mentioned parasitic capacitance (also resistance of coil, but I don't want to complicate that). You can see some changes in frequency, when You are bringing something closer to coil, but it's because of distortions in electric field of this parasitic capacitor and also the inductance can change.
I think if you use a 555 timer chip with an astable "dead bug" circuit you can change the square wave output. Capacitor and 2 resistor values control the frequency. There are 555 calculators online. Replace one of the resistors with a potentiometer and you can play with the frequency (duty cycle) up down. I used that to make an LED flasher more than 10 years ago
Thank you, yes the length of wire will directly affect the frequency, as well as adding a topload. this will affect the electrical frequency. To affect the breakout frequency, which is a different thing, you could use as Techno mentioned above.
Jay, I've got a build idea for you. I live in Michigan and our water all over this state is contaminated with the forever chemicals known as PFAS or PFOA. These chemicals have been used in many consumer products from food packaging to clothing, furniture, and in fire fighting foams. They're called forever chemicals because they are composed of fluorocarbon (CF) bonds which are extremely strong. They accumulate in animal tissues much like Mercury does in fish. But even the human body, as wonderful as it is, cannot break those CF bonds. And they're toxic. Recently, it has been discovered and published in peer reviewed papers that water that is contaminated can be cleansed (remediated) by subjecting it to a Plasma discharge. Could you please design a water filter for the kitchen faucet that treats the water coming from the tap with a Plasma discharge? This would not only be a huge help to all of the residents in the state of Michigan, but all over the United States. Even though the entire class of PFAS/PFOA chemicals are now banned for most (but not all) uses, they persist in the environment all across the US. They were used by the military and civilian fire fighters. Last summer I witnessed Homeland Security in conjunction with local first responders shooting massive amounts of fire fighting foam on a mock fire of a railroad car at our local railyard (which is less than a mile from the Clinton River by the way). We already have filters for lead because of the Flint Water crisis but now we (state of Michigan) has been fighting for years with the DOD to clean up the watershed around the former Wertzmuth AFB in Oscoda Michigan. Now it seems that they will not clean up their mess and Michigan residents are left with drinking highly contaminated water. A plasma treatment faucet filter would be a Godsend.
Hi David. Thanks for the detailed information. That's really interesting. Almost sounds like the theory of Plasma Activated Water - shown to drastically speed up plant growth.
Can you modify it so the arc can become a plasma speaker?? Since the arc is silent when unmodulated....
It may be possible.
Try it with a bifiliar pancake coil next! Tesla patent US512340A!
Here was a field demonstration of a bifiliar I made and powered by manually turning a AA on and off: vm.tiktok.com/sFaPch/
All the bifiliar coils i've seen are operated at really low voltages, so i'm not sure how well they'd handle higher voltages.
@@PlasmaChannel I think it will fair well. Tesla designed it for this purpose (in some pictures of lab you see large versions) but this of course depends on the dielectric strength of insulation of the wires and air spacing.
wow! didn't expect to see that 100% of the people that answered the pole were subscribed! thats awesome
Right?! Are you subbed?
@@PlasmaChannel Yeah, of course I am, I've been subscribed for almost 6 months now!
Why do you only have 170k subs!? You deserve at least a million :)
Thanks dude. I appreciate that. You can help by sharing some of my recent videos!
@@PlasmaChannel Already did :)
Once again a great video👍🏼
Appreciate that, thanks!
Brilliant video , lovely little coil. A build video would be greatly appreciated, especially showing how that coil was would.
Hi FG, thanks for the compliments. I didnt do a build because i'm getting a little tired of people stealing my build ideas, and selling them for profit.
Plasma Channel very true. Great build anyway.
@@PlasmaChannel **lets the terrorists win**
Nice video!
Thanks!
Very nice build...what's the diameter on the acrylic discs?
They are five inch discs
@@PlasmaChannel Thank you, my friend.
Certainly! Have a happy new year
Interesting, I've heard that flat coils notoriously suffer from internal arcing. Mayhaps I heard wrong.
Either way, very compact! Very pretty!
@Heads Mess Just watched. I see what you mean. 'Twas a little hard to follow without narration, but I think I got it.
How did you wind your coil? the secondary coil wire should be thinner. so is it not a completeley flat coil?
Wound my coil using a drill and the two plexiglass plates
Is this output arc DC? Where does the ground go to get + and - output wires off one of these?
Hello, the output is AC. Very high frequency AC
Plasma Channel oh ok, thank you very much for the reply 👌 I love your channel by the way
where can i find details about positioning the primary and secondary coils? please.
I have found that adding a diode from the gate to drain (using a mosfet) with the cathode connected to the drain, greatly improves these circuits. At least with helical coils, might work with this one.
Wow super cool idea to make the secondary coil pancake type💯💯
You are king of creativity...
One day you will sure built something that will shock the world...🔥🔥🔥
Maybe one day! I have some big builds planned.
How many windings for secondary? also, could you provide a better schematic? no resistor value or position of base, emitter and collector. also no polarity on battery
Cool! But how do you make the elusive pancake coil????
Your video was awsome . Hope to see more of your ideas 😉
More to come! Thanks
This is a great idea, it's perfect for a project I want to do. But must build my first Tesla coil first, am a beginner. Thanks and cheers
Impressive, please tell me how thick the diemater of your wire was? I try to do this tyoe of coul for my healing device. Thank you a lot!
Could you please tell me the distance between the both plastis. I could see that there are more layers of secondary inside. 0,6 mm?
Sir can you make a on how to make a pancake slayer please 👍
Can we put this on for long duration???
Make a ruhmkorff induction coil next. Love the video.
Those things are the bane of my life, I'm currently counting turns and layers on a 1920's model that I'm restoring. All that impregnated paper insulation is making it so much fun! 🤣🤣
Can you please tell which mosfet is used and value of resistance
You’re a very good presenter, I’m surprised you’re into something so specific, but it’s great 👍
insted of a battery can i use a computer smps as power supply as it gives 12 volt 24 amps
yes you can, though you will experience some back EMF which may fry the power supply if it's too cheap.
@@PlasmaChannel i can use a 20 amp diode in the input toborecent the back emf
could you tell the lenght used for the primary and for the secondary?
Loved it! :) Do you need special transistors for this to handle such high frequencies? When I did this with a single transistor, it overheated too quickly.
Excellent build here! I have made my slayer exciter audio modulated. Try that and you will love it.
Thanks for the tip! I am designing a much more powerful slayer, that will blow this one out of the water. I'll add an audio feature to it
@@PlasmaChannel Youte welcome, check out my video of my sisye slayer Eddi exciter that is audio modulated. Also watch my video about my rotary spark gap I made. That little one I was talking about. I just got just got it uploaded a few days ago!
This is absolutely beautiful device ,you always design cool stuff ,and video is looking so cool 💜💜💜💜
Hi Mohsen, thank you so much.
The connection u showed is that works like your model
What is number of transistor and resistor
I have links in the video description.
You never did get back with me about bringing a flame up to the Water Bridge!
Hi David, been quite busy! I tried it right now though, and the flame was mildly drawn to the bridge. It was hard to tell though if it was merely due to regional effects of convection being affected and obstructed by the water, or, if the fire was actually attracted. I''ll have to try agian.
@@PlasmaChannel did the flame change color, blue?
Very awesome project as always. I am definitly going to build one similar to yours. But why is there no build video? Please, pleeease don't stop uploading the builds of your projects. It gives so much inspiration and Ideas to all your viewers including me. For example, I don't know if you used the regular slayer exciter or the modified one, as the regular one is known not to be powerful. And you said something of a special circuit. Did you only mean the pencake coil or some spechiality of your circuit? If you show the build video, even some electronics newbies can build one just like in your video. But if you don't show the build, only experienced electronic pros can enjoy the world of plasma. Again, please keep uploading the builds. It Is even for the experienced viewers fun and interesting to watch you build some awesome creations. It would really be a shame if we didn't get to see this important part of the video anymore. Anyway, I don't want to hate or be mean, it's just some well ment critics. Love your videos, but keep that part up. I couldn't ask for more in your videos.
Hi Simon. Thanks so much! I didnt include the build details to the T, because I want people to be inspired to built things in their own way, as opposed to copy my design. It encourages creatively and problem solving - it's how I learned. Cheers!
@@PlasmaChannel If people know how, they will most likely build their own design how they like it. But a noob, who has no Idea of electronics could learn a lot. Of course you can make your videos the way you like them, but Inthink your viewers would enjoy them more and learn more with the build details. I like your videos anyway, but I like them more with the build. ;-)
@@simont3686 the main thing to understand is that if you're using a dc source like batteries that you need it to pulse, so think transistors and how to drive them to create what you need. Check his previous videos and see how he's done it before, and then look to change the format of the coil to being flat
@@stuartcommon4651 I know how the slayor exciter works and the principle of tesla coils. I only wrote this comment for the ones who don't. Also I enjoy watching the the build process. For me it's just part of the video.
@@simont3686 don't get me wrong I love seeing builds too, I was just dropping hints for those that didn't, sorry I realise it sounded very much directed at you but it was meant to peoplein general 🤗
do slayer exiters have open air discharges? and is the screwdriver it is arcing to connected to anything?
Reminds me of the PCB tesla coils using GaN transistors from hackaday, those have to operate at many MHz so really super fast power transistors were required!
Power max - it was you that inspired me to use the MJE3055T! So glad you commented. I tried a few others, and did a lot of research, but when i saw you had good results, i went ahead using the MJE3055T. Cheers, Mate
@@PlasmaChannel I need to continue development of my PLL musical singling coil, I like the compact nature of your pancake coil, I hate the large volume a normal tesla coil uses. Did you fill the coil with resin to prevent arcover?
Looks good,is your L1 quarter wave of your L2? And at what frequency does plasma turn green?
Hey love your videos keep it up bro ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks! Will do!
Tesla coil has to be high tower like build
..
Hold my beer dude
Jay what's better the tall Tesla coil or the pancake one?
In my opinion, the tall secondary style. More distance between the ground and high voltage out means it can create larger sparks.
is there anywhere we can find a slightly more detailed circuit diagram?
Cool very nice Jay
Yay thanks for likeing my comment maybe one day when I'm able to get the right parts I will build one
would you consider doing a video showing how to wind a pancake secondary coil. every attempt ive made ends up overlapping and ruined. i cant find a good video showing how to make a rig for this. itd be a huge help
@Plasma Channel How exactly do you charge yourself for the bending videos?
I use a voltage multiplier I’ve custom built.
Can an IGBT transistor be used or does it have to be a BJT transistor
wait what was role of led in the circuit cause i have seen a slayer exciter without a led
No spark gap? Mosfet/Transistor replaces spark gap in slayer exciter?
Fun idea. Placing any metal near the secondary coil, though, steals power out of the system. Makes the output, worse
I'm confused, what is the resistor you're using..In the video I see a 1KOhm, in the schematic 1.5KOhm and in the description link 5.6KOhm??
Great to see you back with more wonderful stuff. We just love high voltage. Boys dangerous toys lol. Love your work.
Thanks Michael!
Hi, maybe this is a stupid question, but could you use this as a power source for creating ozone, from one of your videos?
which transistor is used and how much resistance should the resistor have
as usual great video.
Thank you!
Where did you get all these stuff?
I build all my own devices. Everything is custom designed. But you can see the links to all my supplies in the video description.
Whoa.
Thank you very much.
Admire you work.
Hi Jay! Did you use a 5.6k resistor? My build seems to not have enough resistance. The voltage is too high for the diode. It blows my light.
What components did you use, part by part? Feel free to email!
Great video! What diameter of acrylic circle did you use?
Thank you Snekers. I used 5 inch diameter circles.
Quite amazing... Is there a way to design a coil with a specific frequency in mind
How can I build this??
If I go to google or something I don't think I can make it with these components
Show a DIY how to make it please really cool invention
The production quality😘😘
You like it?
@@PlasmaChannel loved it. Actually planning to build this one
Love your videos my friend.
I'll take a gander at this, and let you know what I come up with. I am very busy, between a full job and full time youtube, but will find some time to start experimenting on this. Cheers!
