  • The aim was to buy just about the cheapest all singing, all dancing component tester I could. To this aim I ended up with a Geekcreit® LCR-T4 Mega328 tester from Banggood. The one I choose was a tad over a tenner and free shipping to the UK with a case. The alternative for exactly the same item without a case was about £6.50 PLUS about £2 shipping. The former seemed the better deal. This video is a quick insight to the device and the reason I bought it in the first place.
Link to Banggood for both items:

Will it read a bridge diode rectifier? 4 pin

As you know a full wave bridge rectifier is made from 4 diodes so I would expect the tester to pickup an issue if one of those was duff. I’ve not tried it but will and update here. Good question 👍🏽

i did see, a review of this type product.
on eevblog and shango066 youtube channels, but i wen't and got one the other day to put it together take a good look at its picture on the web site you go it, also i put some glue around the nuts after the screws were in the outside case, but then the batteries could be replaced with a 2.1mm dc socket with break contact were that square hole is on the side. plus the unit dont come with a holder to put your 9 volt batterie in anyway.?

There are certainly some improvements that could be made to the kit from Banggood but for the money, to me, it seems good value. Nice little piece of kit. Thanks for your comments 👍🏽

I just got mine, and like yours... they didn't cut out the hole for the surface mount pads! Dammit.

I guess if you trade off the little issues we get against the cost £ then its still not a bad deal. The overall experience is a little poorer now they are charging postage, not unexpected though. Thanks for watching 👍🏽

Hi J, no not on mine but I think I read somewhere it should be discharged so just short the legs together for a couple of seconds and fit to the tester. Did yours arrive in one piece? I use mine almost daily and for the price its a great bit of kit. Thanks for watching 👍🏽

@@MikeMakesIt What is that Chip? Looks like a Mega8? The device itself behaves almost like the DIY-Version based on ATMEGA328 with small OLED-Display. Functionality is almost identical without that nice graphics output.

@@greekstraycats Hi Uli, I’ve just looked on mine and it’s an Atmel328P. I hope that helps 👍🏽

@@MikeMakesIt Thanks. Quite interesting device which goes back to to an idea by Markus Frejek published on a forum in 2009. Software was optimized 2012 by Karl-Heinz Kuebbeler but the schematic did not change from 2009 until 2023! It is still almost the original schematics. There just a lot of modifications with different displays for example.
I think I will build my own 🙂 It is in fact really cool.
