      @@NoMusiciansInMusicAnymoreNo. The Commonwealth of Australia government. It isn't accurate to say that the corruption is to blame either because the system of government functions as per design. Look beyond the surface and see the blame game for the distraction that it is. Acknowledge there is a problem. Assess the problem, it's causes and potential remedies. Assess other causational problems while working toward resolving initial problem.
      The what aboutism, lesser evil/greater good arguments make people a part of the problem and hinder every attempt at resolving problems. It's childish, irresponsible and entirely detrimental. When we can't be part of the solution we should damn well get out of the way of people who are at least making a constructive effort.

    • @ajnaughtin1
      @ajnaughtin1 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Do you know what the difference in cost of extraction is? Look at the rate of return on Australian public gas companies. It is trivial. Meanwhile unlimited immigration is diluting the per capita value of all existing resources in the country. It is as if you don't look into this issue one iota. Perhaps iron ore could have a modest increased extraction tax but certainly not gas. Monique Ryan used to be my local member, she strongly supports trans surgeries for kids .... you really think she has a sensible position on anything that isn't 100% virtue signalling, no matter what the cost to this country? This is 100% culture war, zero percent sensible policy.

    The Australian Government should ensure the gas industry pays their fair share by imposing royalties on all gas extracted in Australia.

    About time. I’ve been saying this for years and get called a communist for wanting Australia to profit from its own resources. Once it’s gone there is no more profit. All we need now is more ministers to grow a backbone and do what Norway does. If the companies say we’ll pack up and go, then leave someone else will want the gravy.

    Thank God ! Politicians with intelligence. How many of our resources have been virtually given away over the "minerals boom" and how rich our country would be if they were taxed fairly ? The numbers of politicians who retire early from politics and re-surface as highly paid consultants or board members of foreign owned resource companies shows how much they care for the Australian people.

    Most Australians are not racist, especially the younger generations. The label is often used to hinder discussions about immigration or radical Islamists who do not adopt our values.

    Lets deep dive on this subject and link these companies to there tax paying commitment as well. Great work to highlight this. We are heading into a world of automation and far less employment.( Government revenue) These companies need to tow the line pay up, contribute, or pack up and get out. Hand the keys over to Government so we can run the show.

    A good policy would be to put in an export reservation of say 10% and use the cheap/free gas to supercharge our manufacturing sector and shut some coal power generation and replace with gas. Certain Coal seam gas projects would likely pull stumps given the marginal economics at the tail of the project and we would take a hit on sovereign risk for future petroleum investments but having a reserve of untapped gas maybe an asset.
