- Peter tackles a long overdue job - to replace a bad landing floorboard section that is seen every time we go upstairs!!
How can you help us and our channel grow? visit the link below:

We have the loveliest supporters and followers of our TH-cam channel 'It's a Wonderful Life'.
We remain committed to provide our content regularly, and of late, to increase the frequency of our vlogs. We have and continue to receive, many kind requests, to send gifts, or in some way help us financially with our channel.
We have given this a great deal of thought. Whilst 'Patreon' and 'go fund me' are out of the question for us, we feel the 'buy me a coffee platform' (or for us, a cup of tea!) would be a great way to do this, especially in light of its ease of use and non ongoing commitment.
Any contribution towards maintaining and hopefully enhancing our channel is very much appreciated, but never expected.
I could watch Peter working all day every day!
Those little jobs make such a difference!

So nicely done Peter. It was fascinating to watch this to take place.

An inspiration to all of us who keep putting off those little jobs. Have a wonderful Christmas and looking forward to more videos in the New Year.
This is what we like to see, the repairs and transformations of house and garden. Much more interesting viewing. Welcome back.
Thank you

A simple but great repair that will make all the difference when you go up and downstairs. You're inspiring us again!!🎉
Yes! Thank you!
Love it!!!
Nicely filmed, great commentary, like your new style video's
Thank you very much!
Fun to see inside work again! Would love to see any new updates or additions!
Will do!
It’s great to get small jobs accomplished. Great job as always.
Thanks for sharing, Peter. You started a project maybe a year or so ago. Where you had to lay level and lay a new floor, what happened? You can tell I’m invested! 😀
Yes I did, it was the boot room, we are scanning the cheap second hand adverts for a door and a window that will roughly fit our openings, and once they have been bought, we can get that job finished! Thanks for following Terry :-)
Best Wishes to you and Anna...hope you have a lovely holiday season.
Same to you!
Lovely job Peter 😊 x
We love watching your attention to detail. Thank you from Australia.
Thanks for watching!
Have a great week
Welcome back, not checked your summer video as yet. Love watching you work and hate when episode ends. Looks great 🎄🎄💖💖🎄🎄
Welcome back!!
A nice sturdy repair 👨🏻🔧 👍🏻
Thanks Tony 👍
Fabulous that you are back posting your informative interesting entertaining videos. Looking forward to the next 😊Are you still planning on refurbishing the kitchen? I remember you were planning on using parts of the old dresser, sideboards that are so prevalent in France. Plenty of choice in the brocantes. Anyway, my best wishes to you both and have a wonderful Christmas 😊
Yes the kitchen is in dire need, but we don't have the funds for the new items yet, worktops, sinks, tiles etc - everything else we will make do, hopefully won't be long!
BEST WISHES TO YOU
👌
Love your new assistant, why are cats so nosey xx
Love wallpaper! I'd love to watch the cottage taken back to an early time thru decor and fittings.
Great idea!!
👋👍❤
What you really needed to do , was to create a step edge. This requires that your new wood be the width of the old board plus the thickness of the top riser plus 2.5 Cm. As the width of your new edge. The cut edge is then rounded over on both faces. Then reinstall the top riser measured to be even with the top if the landing without the step edge, install the new step edge, and use a small cove moulding under the step edge to cover any spaces between the underside of the step edge and the top riser.
Now that definitely be the best idea, all good suggestions, just comes down to cost vs end result. Thanks Walter
@@ItsaWonderfulLife2 you already had the wood you were using to replace the short flooring you removed. It was merely a matter of cutting the board wider, then shaping the cut side to match the profile on the stair treads even if not as thick. The moulding is not functional however, the stair edge should retain the height of the rise of the staircase, to prevent a tripping hazard. The human body automatically measures the rise of a staircase and raises the foot to that height.
Have a Blessed Christmas
God bless you and your family too :-)
In relation to your number of subscribers, I really like how some channels have cross fertilised (!) so it helps everyone to grow their numbers. So from the Pethericks to their satellite of youtubers, to Tony & Jane at Not Quite a Chateau DIY, and others, would it be worth inviting people renovating farmhouses etc to do crossovers ? It does seem to help from what I can see.
Love you two. I've missed your vlogs but understand you need to have sometime to yourselves.
Did I miss the reveal of what you were doing in the downstairs boiler room? If so can you tell me which video it was, thank you. ❤
Coming soon!just waiting for second hand windows and a door to turn up then we can get that one done!!
Brilliant, can't wait. I hope you have an enjoyable Christmas. 🎉❤🎄🧑🎄🤶
Thought you might consider changing your name from "It's a Wonderful Life" to something not associated with the Jimmy Stewart Christmas movie. You need something for people to know you are from France, DIY, gardening, etc. Just a thought, we love your show and want everyone to be able to find you.
Thata a good idea, we must give that some thought as it totally makes sense, thank you
Yeah snow is great when you haven’t got to walk or drive on it 🤨
Great DIY....You genuinely seem to enjoy it....Must let my other half watch....Not a great DIY er.😅.
Thank you! Cheers!
Everything you do is so meticulous Peter.
Thank you Ineke :-)
Oooooh I think you’ve only filmed upstairs once before, a treat is in store this vlog-what can we see in a ‘house-like-this’. !! 😳🫤🫤
Oh, not much to show really, just our bedrooms which we like to keep away from the videos if we can!!
@@ItsaWonderfulLife2 ……spoilsport ……… I thought we would see into the airing cupboard 😳
I'd have been tempted to shave the riser and fit a step over it with rounded edge to give the toe overhang. Agree, it is not an original staircase in that position - probably had one of those steep ladders that were often used sur le continent 🪜
So true and alas, agreed we would have done it differently from the start!!
