I'm turning 70 in July and been playing music for 50 yrs. , I've opened up for and played with a lot of big names and you my friends are second to none. This guy must be the best white blues/soul singer on the planet and there have been some good ones..Steve Winwood, butterfield, Darryl Hall Delbert Mcclinton etc. to name a few.
I dont want to be that guy but where would music be without black culture? Thered be not rap rock blues or jazz. America would be doing the polka exclusively.
I don't do "thumbs down" unless someone really sucks, but I'm disappointed is this. A friend turned me on to the Honeydrops, and I saw they do "Up Above My Head". I thought after the first verse, they look like they would kick into channeling Sister Rosetta. In my opinion, no one should even listen to this song unless you've heard the Good Sister, Godmother of Rock. th-cam.com/video/JeaBNAXfHfQ/w-d-xo.html. So I thought they would get with it - they are good enough to - but they didn't. Just my opinion.
Rather than steal Sister Rosetta, or even try to "Channel" her, he did it his own way, and it was GREAT in it's own right...don't take anything away from these boys, they are excellent in their own way!

Love Sister Rosetta but I gotta say I love the way the Ca Honeydrops do it even better, makes you really appreciate the lyrics.
