Middlesbrough: Dealers on 'every street' and fire-bombed houses

  • KIDS as young as ten have been dealing drugs while riding bicycles around a British town riddled with substance abuse.
In the Teesside town of Middlesbrough, fed-up residents say they know of dealers "on every street" and even hospital wards are used to trade cocaine, heroin and meth.
Cleveland Police has the third highest rate of drug offences in the country, at 4.1 per 1,000 people, with only Merseyside and the Met having higher rates.
And the stark reality of life in the poverty-stricken zone emerged as residents told of houses being fire-bombed in drug-related reprisal attacks.
In the suburb of Hemlington, locals were genuinely scared to speak out about drug gangs causing carnage in their community.
They told The Sun how the community library was often used as a hub for dealing class A wares.
Joyce Barker, 58, said she had seen children as young as 10 using bikes to deliver drugs.
She said: "Every week there's a car that comes onto the estate - a big, posh car - and there's a huddle of kids who gather around it.
"They get the supplies doled out to them and then they go off delivering around the estate.
"I'm looking at them thinking 'you've not got a hair on your face'.
"They're so young. They should be in school, instead they're dealing drugs.
"But I don't blame the kids. They're seeing the posh car, the clothes, the watches and they want the same.
"It's the adults who know better. Deal your drugs, fine - that's your choice. But getting kids to do your dirty work. That's cowardly."
A police operation in Hemlington last year saw thousands of pounds worth of drugs seized and weapons recovered.
But locals say drugs continue to blight the estate.
One pensioner told how he lived two doors away from a drug dealer.
Too fearful to be named, he said: "There's a drug dealer on every street around here. Everyone knows who they are but nothing ever seems to stop them.
"We've got bungalows that have been set alight and boarded up because there's been a dispute or someone wants to mark their territory.
"Hemlington used to be a nice place to live. But it's just getting worse and worse.
"I've never known it as bad as it is right now. The place is just lawless."
Social worker Bethany White, 28, added: "People in power need to come and live here and experience what's going on.
"There's no community policing and so we've got a generation of kids who are growing up and won't acknowledge that the police are there to help."
The prevalence of drugs is so bad in Middlesbrough that doctors warned in September that dealers are brazenly selling drugs on hospital wards.
Police meanwhile said brazen drug leaders spray numbers on walls to advertise which house they are selling from.
Vascular surgeon Barney Green said: "What we're seeing is one admitted every 1.4 days. This is really related to the drugs trade and illicit crime.

Bring back national service to do what? Be action men for the government? Fighting wars for things they have no say or understanding on/over? Rightly or wrongly raiding peoples homes on foreign land for what reason? I’m born and bred in the UK white British but let me say this… if I was a child in a third world country, growing up, watching family members getting killed/blown up/family homes raided, constant presence of UK/USA military and dare I say their are good and bad people in all walks of life so unfortunately their will be war crimes committed aswell! If I was watching all this around me I’d probs grow with a vendetta and be labelled a terrorist, just saying.

    • @Mat-kr1nf

That’s nowt to do with immigration, it’s Thatcher closing down the coal fields, other heavy industries closing, fishing, steel, manufacturing, so there’s no jobs, no hope, no community any more, then the scousers come in with the county lines which makes the drug problem that was already well out of control, exponentially worse

"Poverty stricken". Professor Thomas Sowell has explained time and time again, that poverty has little to do with criminality. Nor are drugs to blame. Criminality is a lifestyle choice. People choose to become drug addicts, and they choose to fund their habit through crime. Up until the 1960's, the British public knew exactly what to do about people like that, and expected the police and courts to do what should be done, it wasn't complicated.

Criminality and drug addiction are two completely separate concepts.
Many people become addicted to perfectly legal substances - some of which are in fact *forced* on to people by the state.
Many substances that have _become_ illegal, may have been substances that a user may have been addicted to *_before_* they became illegal.
Not that legal and lawful should be confused, you understand...
Impoverishment per se may not necessarily be {a} predominantly driving factor in inducing criminal activity from somebody...
Circumstantial disadvantage on the other hand, may well do.
Circumstances beyond the conceivable control of the would be criminal - many circumstances of which are being newly devised again and again and in contemporary British "society" to draw people in - may compel somebody to engage in certain criminal acts, in order to preserve one's very self - whether it be immediately apparent as to why this is, or not.
The inducer of such a lifestyle that another ends up suffering by adopting, gets away with it - time, time and time again, without so much as a second thought.
It's they - they who remain in the shadows - they who devise plans to sow all manner of subtle division and destruction - and their mechanisms and infrastructure - that need to be directly remedied.
NOT the poor sod on the street who has no idea what's even happened until it's too late!!
That's between them and the man upstairs.
The situation here on Earth, is the one that we ought to focus on addressing.

Society wants prohibition, this is part of the price it has to pay I’m afraid to say, some other parts are high crime rates, full prisons and exploitation of vulnerable people and children, plus all the damage of a collateral nature.
all this just to slightly disrupt the drug supply chain.
I suggest a new policy of legislation, regulation, and education.
P.s anyone who supports prohibition is essentially helping the illegal drug trade exist, drug dealers need uneducated daily mail readers to help them ply their trade.Drug dealers don’t exist without Prohibitionists👍✌️
