I have made 3 pairs of Pietra pants - shorts, capri and long pants. I too could not have done them without you fabulous instructions. I just stopped the video at each point where there was a change and followed along with the video. I did not even look at the pattern!!! U are right these are fabulous pants that hang beautifully.

my Pietra pants turned out great! I don’t think that I could have done them without your tutorial, especially constructing the pockets……I could not get my head around the instructions. I also thought your tip for stitching in the ditch at the back was brilliant.
Thank you! I couldn’t work out how to top stitch the elastic. Took three attempts and a seam ripper, but in the end I cracked it. Needed to see someone demonstrate!

Before I watch the whole thing, I was 1 min 25 in before I realized that your hair wasn’t braided from one side to the other up over your head! I was like, wow her hair looks so cute! 😀🤪 it looks totally cute with that headband!

Just found this. The best tutorial on these pants ever. Agree about sizing, the finished garment measurements are a better indicator of fit. I made these as shorts last year and really struggled to find a tutorial on those pockets so bravo for doing such an excellent, clear demo on them as they're the trickiest part of the pattern. Thank you. I'm off to make view A in linen.

Great sew along Michelle. I think I mentioned that I've made two pairs of this pant for myself and my sister loves both pairs!! I am however persevering with the pattern because I love the style. I found them very easy to put together. The wide leg style is quite wide so I will make the narrow leg ones this time. Take care
Do you always sew standing up? I loved this video! Wow, your top stitching is so nice. I’m not sure what you do in “real life” but watching your tutorial here, I’d say you do something where you must give instructions to staff or education. You seem very comfortable and explained everything so well. Great job and I’m excited to make these! Your kitty was very cute. When a kitty needs a pet and some attention, it’s hard to convince them otherwise. 😻 Take care!
Ahh thank you! 😁 I sew standing up most of the time as my table is high. I do sometimes sew sitting with my sewing machine foot pedal on a little step otherwise I can’t reach it on the floor 🤣 xx

Brilliant tutorial! As a beginner sewist with several garments completed I would love to give these a try. Silly questions, however, as your fabric had some stretch, did you use a ballpoint needle in your machine and a zig zag stitch?
Ahh thank you 😁 as the fabric only had a little stretch I used a standard needle and normal poly thread with a straight stitch. If you are unsure and your woven fabric has stretch you can also use Maraflex thread with a straight stitch too x
Hi Michelle I have just watched your tutorial on the Pietra Pants, thankyou so much, your instructions were just what I needed to make a start on these pants. One question - I too have a fabric with a slight stretch in the linen/viscose so did you use a stretch interfacing? 0:18
Hi Michelle love the pants it is one of my favourites patterns did you alter the stitch length for the two rows on the waistband.I have a Pfaff machine and it doesn’t seem to like elastic.
Great video Michelle. I just got the PIetra pants and hope to make them soon. I am curious what you use for tracing your patterns. I haven’t found anything that really works for me and it looked like you had a nice dark pencil or pen. Thanks
This tracing paper I use in the video is from Morplan I’ll send you the link. It is fairly good tracing paper and comes on big rolls which is handy for me as I use so much of it 😁 I also use a black felt pen to make my markings as I find it easier to cut on the line of a thicker marker for accuracy www.morplan.com/gb_en/41467
Folks, I'm looking at this pattern and wondering if it's right for me. I have a tummy that puts me in largest size and hips of 14. I can't see how I would slash and spread the tummy area. Should I give this a miss?
Appreciate the sewalong - I made these but found the rise was much too long so they did not look good at all. The thought of changing all those pattern pieces just put me off so maybe will tackle again one day.
Yes they are high waisted. I personally like a high waist as I am quite long in the body so it’s great for me but I’m sure if you just took some length off the top of the pattern pieces that should make it a little better

Can i ask if you found that the side seams tend to roll over and not lay flat? I was wondering if topstitching the side seams would help?
I didn’t find this but yes top stitching should sort it and will give it a nice finish too 👍
Now you’ve worn them have you found they became baggy? Interesting to know as I don’t like linens that stretch with wear.
They haven’t become baggy at all, I think with my fabric having the stretch content makes it bounce back if it were to stretch x
