The first gig that Chris is talking about was in Stones in Frederick St, Edinburgh on February 26th 1996 although they made a brief appearance at the 13th Note in December of '95 before Chris joined the band. On January 13th the band played at a party in Richard's flat where I heard Stevie sing the first few lines of God Only Knows which was really beautiful.
The band played two gigs in March 96. The first at Glasgow School of Art followed on the 27th at Hyndland Church with Funhouse & The Usual Suspects. On May 10th Belle & Sebastian played at a college i Northern France supported by a local rock band called Loch Lomond before returning to Glasgow for the launch of Tigermilk at CaVa studios on June 6th.
Not mentioned in Fans Only is a gig in Perthon July 4th at the Twa Tams pub where Stevie played a solo Seymour Stein to an assortment of the music business. They were supported by Johnny & Monica Queen.
For the gig in the Moir Hall in Glasgow on 18th October the band set up at either end of the hall with half the band playing both ends. Support was Arab Strap I think but can't remember.
The band finished off 1996 with 2 gigs at the I.C.A. in London supported by Tindersticks on November 7th & 9th and on the 9th November they played at The Borderline in London. On December 2nd a Belle & Sebastian live session was played by Mark Radcliffe on BBC Radio One.

Was it 1997 when they played Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh? I definitely remember a few tracks from Sinister being played but can't remember if it had been released. Also remember a cover of Reel Around The Fountain, a lengthy break halfway through for a cup of tea, and an amazing Seeing Other People. It was all brilliant in a ramshackle way.

@@Unplugged70 I think it was but memory is fading. Do you remember Monica Queen guesting at the Assembly Rooms ?
