I am a phd candidate studying self help strategies for adolescents and young adults with high functioning autism. Writing up my dissertation is such a big challenge. As English is my second language, I find it essential to improve my academic writing skills. Thanks John. Your video on cohesion in academic writing not only addresses my learning needs at this stage but also strengthens my determination to overcome the hurdles of writing a phd dissertation.
@AWUC Please keep on doing videos like these. This was not just helpful to work on my current essay but actually stimulated me for my future writings =)
Hello John. About scientific articles. I think applying some of the examples that you gave on this lecture would come up as "forced" or inappropriate when writing a scientific article. Which recommendations could you provide to prevent that and still have a cohesive writing in that context?
Nice bro you taught in great way it will help us keep it up your English also very good it is true you are indigenous speaker but many native speaker cannot speak like you...never mind what l wrote because l am trying to improve my English but l am not jesting to you ...l learnt something new from this vedio.thanks for proving us knowledge if you acknowledge my English is understandable for you then kindly reply...
3:20 "Finally we have words and phrases used to summarize..." However, it is not the final item (the final one is "to Express an Alternative")! Bad cohesion due to bad use of lexical signpost!
