I just love how her husband is so supportive and just lets her do what she wants to do...
Paul Child not only "let" her do what she wanted to do, he actively participated behind the scenes. He was usually the first person (after Julia) to sample her creations; he photographed her during cooking, and the illustrator used the photos as source material for the sketches in "Mastering the Art of French Cooking;" he washed dishes on the set of the TV shows; etc. He was Julia's rock, and she wouldn't have become the success she was without him.
He's like Jeffery
well... thats how marriage is supposed to be. no one should be 'letting' someone do something but they should be fully supportive of what their partner CHOOSES to do
TheSapphireDragon1 we should all try to be so deserving of such a partner
Umm, "let" her? I am a tad bit intrigued by your choice of words.
One thing I really love about how Stanley Tucci plays Paul Child is he never shoots Julia's ideas down. He gives her the space to figure it out and stands with her every step of the way, even if his face is saying, "Babe, are you sure you want to do this?" He just encourages her to try until she finds her niche.
Beautifully said.
He does shut her down with his facial expressions
Julia's father was very negative and she decided she would just be single unless she could find someone supportive.
A movie where Stanley and Meryl play characters who are supportive of each other. Beautiful. It made me believe that they were actually married to each other.
She’s doing a French accent in a Julia Child accent. Meryl Strepp the queen. Honestly I would have just liked a movie about Julia Child
ZeroFox75 Agreed. Especially once you know the real story of Julie, she isn’t that likeable.
"What is it that you really like to do?"
"Eat."
Julia speaking a universal truth there.
They had such a beautiful relationship. They supported each other and understood each other and were just so loving and special.
Aw her husband is just so supportive and easy going.
Good luck finding one in 2019 lol
"And you are so good at It!"
"I am good at It, I am growing in front of you!"
For how long I will have this stupid smile on my face? It goes away, right?
Meryl is so natural at her acting. 💜
She really is, couldn't adore her more 💖
Katherine Hepburn said was too too technical far from natural. Trying to hard
she's a classical actress
She’s putting on an affected voice to play Julia, it doesn’t feel natural at all. It’s like she’s playing a pantomime dame.
That Merryl Streep, shes such a fake.
Meryl is untouchable! She completely embodies every character. Love her 🥰
Just watched this all the way through for the first time. All of the parts with Julia made me smile. This is the picture of a perfect relationship!
I love the chemistry between these two.
Meryl really has that knack of going full deep into her character's role. I love her in this!
“And you’re so good at it!” Those are relationship goals.
I wonder if such loving, caring, understanding and decent couples still exists.
Me too...
We do!
Sweety Choudhary my parents fully fit that description when my mom was in her early forties she went back to school and my dad supported every step of it along with us kids.
It's sad that Julie has a husband similar to Paul and not only cheated him two times (with the same man) and wrote a book where she told the story almost with pride.
@@renaniidepinheiroepereira4104 wait what? She cheated on him.. So sad
Am I the only one who wishes this whole movie had just been about Julia? Didn't care for Julie's story at all.
You’re in good company her story is deep but she did write another book about her life in paris
Julia Child certainly wrote enough to fill a movie just about herself and yes, the Julia parts are the best - as much as love Amy Adams, it didn't really add anything
Omg yes just Julia's life would have been the best
I’m sure you have already but if you haven’t you must read Julia child’s book My Life in France. It’s so wonderful. I inhaled it.
Same. I skip Julie's part. I just dont care for her character arc at all
I just love the scene when Julia tries to speak in French but ends up speaking in English. The same happens with my students when they are excited. Teachers/Tutors are supposed to encourage the use of the Target language, but it feels so bad to interrupt someone, specially if students are passionate about something.
seeing her struggling in speaking french encourages me a lot
What the hell is miranda doing with nigel? Lmao
It's Britney Biatch! Hahahaha
No no. That wasn't a question
@@anonymoushuman8443 Perfect!
Lmaooo
i do love them together
I LOVE seeing their relationship in this compared to the relationship on The Devil Wears Prada!!! Great actors❤️❤️
They were such a perfect match. Paul was so supportive and they had humor!
1) i adore Stanley, he crushes this. 2) such good chemistry! 3) Paul Child is on my Top 10 definitions of a quality man (fictional and non fiction). He’s right up there with Mr.Knightly, Tom Hiddleston, and Jamie Fraiser.
Don’t forget Gomez Addams
I do love Amy Adams and she was amazing in this film, it's just that I wish we got to see more of Julia Child's story instead. Although I do adore this film
Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci have amazing chemistry in this scene
I love the style of this movie, make you feels nostalgic and heartwarming too
“I was thinking of hat making lessons”
“....you like hats”
“I was thinking of bridge lessons”
“....you like bridge”
😂😂😂
"What is it that you really like to do?"
"Eat"
Literally *ME*
Two of my favorite devil wears parada characters
Loved Julia!!! I couldn't get enough of her dream life with wonderful husband, living in Paris, and all the wonderful food. What a dream life😍
We’re going to Paris in March and we have it all mapped out to visit all of the major filming locations. The bookshop as well as the restaurants and kitchen supply store. Super excited!!
Coronavirus won't let you
Lucas Linares Nope. Left early and I’m here now having a blast!!
I bet you had an amazing time :-))
Fontaine Khaled we had to postpone the trip so I got my French passport and I now live in Paris permanently. 🙌
Denis Laurent you lucky thing!
Meryl Streep is one of my Fav Actress of all times. And she had Julia down to a tea. Great job and great movie. I'm growing in front of you had me, lol. I know Julia Child would have been proud of Meryl Streep performance of her. I give this movies all the stars up⭐🌟🌟⭐🌟⭐⭐🌟⭐🌟
Love that they did completely different characters in The Devil Wears Prada few years before this lol
Not a very good movie except for the parts about Julia.
Julie comes off as a self centered princess.
As the real Julia said, she does not take cooking seriously.
And you needs to perceive that she is "the Hollywood Julie". The real Julie is worst.
Ha, Stanley Tucci just confessed that in the scene at 0:59 where he says "And you are so good at it. Look at you!" was completely made up. Thankfully the ad-lib worked.
I swear, they are made to be together because they did so well with this movie and devil wears prada
This should've been the sequel to The Devil Wears Prada.
Such a contrast between the devil wears prada.
I love this movie. 💙
How am I just piecing together that this is the second movie these two were in together
It’s hard to get straight that she’s not Julia child
I look at Julia child and think “ imposter”
Liss SHE is the real Julia Child
her face in the hat shop 😂😂
2018 and still watchin'
CM SP i tried to watch this movie in 2017 and it caught fire be careful out there
2019 and still watching!
2021 and still watching
Omg, Meryl portrayed Julia to a T. No wonder she is a GOAT, Greatest Of All Time.
Julia taught us food is an expression of art!
So happy to see them together again since Devil Wears Prada 😁
This is maybe my favourite couple ever. ❤️❤️❤️
This movie is the shiz.
This is couple's goal right here. I love how they interact and get along
This is classic Julia, and it reveals a great truth. The best chefs like to eat really good food.
"Government work" .... Lol.
They were so good here and in The Devil wears prada
Julia Child was a very tall woman, standing over 6.' They had Meryl Streep sitting on elevated cushions, standing on platforms and using lifts in her shoes to make her appear taller.
Wow she really is a spot on impersonator of Julia
My gosh to have a husband like Paul. 😍
One of my favorite movies.
Thank you Julia!!! I love you!!! I'll try to cook one of your meals and make you proud of me
I love this movie. I wish I had a husband like hers!
I do, I like the _idea_ of bridge. Omg I went through that with college majors. Apparently I like the _idea_ of many things.
I’m crying. I want a husband like this. Ideally he would also look like Stanley Tucci.
There's nothing this woman cant do, I love her....
Its Miranda Priestly and Nigel
Me too, julia. Me too.
As this film unfolded, I became JEALOUS of Paul Child. Years later, it remains.
There are no more women like Julia.
M falling for Julia😍
I'm sorry that I ever doubted Meryl Streep. I should have known better. I saw the movie before any Julia Child clips. Meryl Streep captured her mannerisms perfectly.
This is me trying to speak french in France, i cant 😂
Tonight late nite movie ..me myself and I one of my favorites ..
I like Julie's voice.
These two are just adorable.
You believe they are head over heels with each other
@@sonicfreak04 Maybe not completely, to put it realistically. The exchange is cute.
How can one ever do better that Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci…. They are not even actors anymore they are icons…..Best Julia ever…..Bon appetite!
Relationship goals ❤️❤️
All the food and chewing noises made me so hungry 🤤
2:57 it's fantastic but it's in French!Hahahaha lmao these two are adorable uwu
I absolutely love this scene because I would definitely say this 🥰❤😁😍!
When she says “wives” it sounds exactly like the real Julia.
"...I thought I was speaking French..."😁😁😁😁
Love like this doesn't exist anymore, you can sacrifice your blood, sweat and tears to help your loved one achieve their dream and they will leave you once they reach it, in the end they see you as someone below them when they are at the top .
Sorry for your hurt. I guess the person wasn't what you thought. There are others, move on and don't give your all to anyone. Mutual respect is the key.
Please don't stereotype people. Not every person is selfish and career driven to the point of neglecting and abusing their loved one.
@@jichuulimario2093 If you are a guy and you are not career driven, good luck attracting a woman. It's a double edge sword for men, be sucessful enough and she wants you because you are financially secure but soon comes the argument where you are apparently not giving her attention etc etc. Give her attention but have a mediocre job and she will start comparing you to the guys who are more successful than you.I am sorry that this is a red pill mate but marriage doesn't benefit anyone this day of age. I am not stereotyping I am just giving you the reality of the human nature
Sai Ren I know couples who are in successful relationships, but okay.
@@sairen5121 His point still stands. Not everyone is as selfish.
Compared now to HBO Julia series Meryl comes off as an SNL skit
so nigel and miranda married after the divorce
I love to eat!
Me: Cheers ill drink to that bro
I do too!! What a sweet awesome man!! I have a wonderful guy like him
I loooovvve love love this movie
Except for Julie, it was very good.
The same cookbook that Hannibal Lecter referenced
Eat and eat and eat and eat lòooooooooooool :) omg 😄
Better than the Max series
Shakespeare & Co.!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Minor goof....that bookstore didnt exist until 1951 and even then it was called "Le Mistral" until 1964.
She is still amazingly beautiful.
Miranda & nigel
0:45 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This entire movie is asmr
Dommage!
Where to find a husband like this?
Am I the only one to think that she looks so cute here?
It’s fantastic but it’s in French! 😂
This is completely random, but I associate Larousse Gastronomique with Hannibal Lector, thanks to Red Dragon... That movie leaves some really unsettling imagery in your mind for a long time
Does anyone know what he's eating in the scene it's so crunchy n creamy looking?!
Soooo “BIG” 😂
Comédia tô fora
Hahaha but the book is in French
All these lessons free?
