I love that the old tutor was kind and encouraging to Julia, not condescending or rude like the administrator.
Bethany Morgan s
That's exactly what I thought when he smiled and replied, "Bonjour madame". Made me smile even more.
A good teacher appreciates a student's desire to learn and grow more than they appreciate what their skill level is at the start of class.
Bethany Morgan a good teacher is one that helps the student learn, not berates them when they need help. She obviously wanted to do her best and was eager, and he was eager to help her, which I found endearing and amazing
She talked about it in her book. The Real Cooks, were the ones who cared about food. Not the ones who care about who you are or where you're from. I like that it's brought up here as the actual Culinary is eager to teach more the craft.
I love her husband’s reaction the moment he stepped inside the room with all those chopped onions
Lol, I know, I love that too. He staggers as if hit by a wall of onion.
The scent of determination brought him to tears.
I know exactly how that feels. The kitchen at work is small and cramped, and they chopped enough onions to fill two bus tubs. I nearly went blind the second I stepped inside
I love Stanley Tucci in this movie and in THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA. I interchange his characters each time I watch either.
@@jessicasmith7102 :D Ha-ha. I see what you did.
“Are you hungry?”
“No.”
“Good.”
😂
Onion soup could have worked too
she didnt want to spent 2-3 hours making it thst late at night lol
Lmao! PMP!
That little “Ta-da!” Is so wholesome, she’s so proud of herself and I love it.
It was sooo cute!! L.O.L.!!!!
Imagine being the person that told Julia Child she'll never be a professional
But also imagine having to eat your own foot for eternity on top of that.
Julia got the last laugh. That woman was proven a fool to have ever doubted Mrs. Child
2:22 “Where are you going?”
2:24 “Well, not here!”
Streep & Tucci great combo!
What a difference a kind and patient teacher can make! Unfortunately there’s not many teachers like this.
She portrays the true anatomy of an actor, how she modulates her voice along with the accent raging from Margaret Thatcher to Julia child is simply extraordinary
Meryl is a treasure
One of my acting teachers in college told me that she is a chameleon actor. The only one that I know of he mentioned is Gary Oldman. This fact alone shows how good an actor she is.
She's the best actor ever.
Well I think we've found the person cutting onions 😭
Hhahahaah
I would go blind with all of that corrosive onion juice flying into my eyes.
🤣🤣🤣
Ahaha finally
2:25 "You hungry?"
"No"
"Good"
XD Sounds like a wife and husband to me XD
OMG I laughed so hard when her husband walked in on that mountain of onions. Julia was determined to master the art of chopping. And she made it through her life without losing any fingers.
No god but Allah

0:50 I’m obsessed with this part. She gets told flat out she’ll never be professional and she subtly just smiles in response like she’s now exhilarated to proof them wrong.
Just pure joy when she walks in the class. I just love it!
Meryl Streep is the greatest actor (or actress) who has ever lived. Every role she inhabits, I believe from start to finish. She is Julia. She is the Baroness. She is Anna Wintour. For a thousand years, no one will come close. She's not even dead and I miss her already. Holy hell. Meryl is a treasure. On top of all of this, she's gorgeous. She is sweet. She is angry. She is good. She is evil. She is true. She deserves every scrap of adulation given. My greatest memory is seeing her live on Broadway. In every circumstance, Meryl Streep is the woman you want in your film. Praise be.
In every role, I just see her as Meryl Streep acting.
Over rated
Are you high? I feel like Mrs doubtfire could have played this role better all she did was go oooouu in a dumb ponzi accent
James Dooling meryl steep is the actress I respect
daniel day lewis ...hold my beer
"What's for dinner?"
"French onion soup, for the next 5 days."
So she's the culprit. On all of the emotional videos she's the one chopping onions.
With her kinda talent she might as well be 😂
She’s just practicing 😔
A real teacher knows how he needs to push students to succeed.
I like how shes upset about something and she happens to be chopping onions at the same time 🤣
She's a fantastic actress.
The teacher was a cool guy.
that’s me at pastry school except for the succeeding at the end part
I loved this movie. Meryl did a fantastic job of imitating Julia Child. I've watched it quite a few times and loved it every time.
Meryl Streep is flawless! What an icon!
she's so adorable 2:34 hahahaha
1:08
I agree! That little 'Ta-da!' is so cute haha
YES!!!
I positively adore this movie!! Am wearing out the book as well!! Love you Julie Powell!!
Jesus my eyes hurt just looking at that
Orion Noiro Same! They literally watered up!
Meryl Streep did this part to perfection. She embodied Julia child to perfection.
that ending L.O.L.!!!! "TA!!!" too freakin cute!!
The face she makes at the chef at 1:47 lol. 🤣😂
I’ve been laughing at this scene since 2014😂😂😂
I like how Julia still took a critical piece of information from the beginner's class: making sure your eggs are always fresh.
The key to success is to keep practicing
Meryl captured the mannerisms of Julia Child very well
She nailed her voice.
Just goes to show that a good teacher makes all the difference!
*at the end, when she wins....WARMS MY HEART* @ 2:31
“You hungry?”
Lol, what was she going to make with all them onions?! 🤣
I’d hoped she prepared French onion soup with that mountain of chopped onions! 😍
A whole lot of onion soup.
I don’t know who was more amazing.. Julia, or Meryl Streep portraying her!!
“BOONNJJOOURRR!”
“Bonjour, Madame” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
that part with Stanley Tucci coming into the room and taking off his glasses!!! hahaha!
Meryl streep is perfect fit for this role as julia child. She sounds absolutely like the real julia child. Especially her french accent.
Amy and meryl are amazing actresess.
Julia Child was not French .. she was American .. Ive often wondered myself why she had an ‘accent’
My sister when she enters the kitchen:
Lol Julia’s unsatisfied grin in the beginning XD
God i didnt knew this even existed o.o i wanna see this now I mean watching Meryl Streep doing as Julia is so on point. I used to watch her shows when i was younger. Jeje rest in peace.
Omg! Who else was instantly taken back to Snl 's Julia Child parody with Dan Ackroyd? Especially when he said you must cut the onion and nothing else.
Choking on my tears!!!
EXACTLY my thoughts
She LOVED that parody. She had it on VHS and would make people sit down and watch it.
Meryl is sounding like the real julia child. Anyway it was a great movie.
I love meryl french accent.
1:44 The way she interacts and reacts is why she won many Oscars
lol i LOVE the face she makes at the guy staring at her 1:45
How I love her 😍
The woman was just fearless.
That was an adorable way to end
Love it. Good for you Julia.
Walked into this movie right before this scene started yesterday at work
Very simple and quick way to show the French sympathy and friendship
Really loved this movie
I love her!
2:34 naw it’s so sweet to see her this Happy☺️
cant wait for the sequel
God I adore this movie
That's dedication bruh.

This is perfect for women's day :)
I love this movie
I need to watch this movie
don't watch it if feeling hungry makes wanna eat great movie
Wonderful!
There is absolutely no role that Meryl Streep can't play!
Her voice modulation is a gift of practice
Meryl Streep est tres actress incroyable :) s’accent Francais est tellement chouette
One can just imagine how much French Onion soup Julia Child could've made with all of those chopped onions.
Lol
I’ve been having a rough week with interviews, but hearing someone tell Julia child she has no talent for cooking just made me feel better
thi
eggg is fresh ahahha
0:52 turn on the captions.
Elensila2718 😂😂😂
Thank you lol
I want to meet Meryl Streep one day. She is so amazing
So cute.
I love Meryl Streep!
I swear that’s chef boyardee!!!
Max Bugnard really is a great culinary mentor to Julia Child.
I Love onions
Lmfao 😂😂
So charming isn’t she.
A class on how to boil an egg 😂
Gr8 imitation
“hOolie and hUulia the 2009 psychological thriller”
Ha ha i like her competitive personality
That's me...at the end...
The end of her knife must always be in contact with the table she's cutting on, her hand moves down and up, not the knife. But otherwise really nice scene.
Depends where you learn and what you are comfortable with. Different cultures have different styles
"Renne! What are you doing with that girl?!"
Oui! 💖
Ta, Da!
Am I to believe that in the professional's class they were teaching how to chop onions?
Ta da ✊
Meryl is a goddess
I wish the movie had concentrated more on Child
The subtitles are hilarious...Miss Breasts lol
😍
that pile of onions will make a medium pot of onion soup
Seems like she'll receive a lifetime achievement award and NOT thank the people that gave it to her but waste time on the soapbox talking to like-minded individuals (meaning the ones you THINK you are arguing with aren't even listening) about something that has nothing to do with why you were called up on that stage.
I always wondered watching this, who's a GI??
GI is slang for a solider in the US :) Probably army chefs or something.
I really never knew that, thanks! Although I did guess it has something to do with the army.
GI is short for Government Issue, like goods or supplies issued by the government. Like soldiers. One nickname is GI Joe which is used for American soldiers.
