Is a $40 leaf blower from ALDI any good?

In the quest for eco-friendly electric lawn equipment, we stumbled across a $40 20V leaf blower from ALDI, made by Ferrex. How does it compare to the budget electric offerings from WORX?

What brand of lawn equipment do you use?
I just bought the Ferrex after watching your video. I'm glad you showed what it can do. I can confirm it performs just like it does in your video. I already have a Toro 51619 Ultra Blower but I wanted something cordless for light work and this fits the bill nicely. It works great to blow off light debris on a deck or walkway a lot faster and easier than a broom. I love having that option of not having to unravel a big extension cord. I think it's also light enough to be used by the elderly.

Thanks for letting us know! How long does the battery last? Does it run on one 40V battery or two 20s?
I bought one of these. There’s a design issue where the vacuum pulls leaves etc into the black fabric sack. There are six vanes just inside the plastic hose and on first use it blocked up with leaf debris. Suction went from fine to zero. Couple of minutes with a saw and the vanes were gone and so was the obstruction. Cant see the point of them as you want everything sucked up to go into the bag as quickly as possible.
Other than that the charge lasts about 30 mins on full blast, enough to convince me to buy two batteries.
Good for maybe say....cleaning-off a small deck etc., but don't expect to work a large yard situation with it.
I got it to move a bit of dry snow! 😄

Hi Thuy, mine came with a single battery on the charger in the box. Extra batteries are for sale through Ferrex online I believe.

that ferrex battery is the current worx design, at least in australia. The xfinity/ferrex/workzone batteries they sell at aldi here are a different design again. Some of them list positec as the warranty agent, others are 'actionspares' which might just be another sub-company of positec.
Anyway, the ferrex 36/40v garden stuff is great. Steel deck brushless mower with 2 8ah batteries for like 230 bucks was a bargain.
What charger can you use for the ferrex battery? I comes with no charger. Would love to know, thank you.

I remember the time, where Aldi sold Windows PCs with all accessories for 1000 bugs in a time, where usually you could get for this a PC without any software.

Meanwhile it's the brand Medion and available outside Aldi.
The inexpensive Aldi Computer was also available in the USA, but slightly limited to keep the 999 $
From time to time they sell non groceries.

I went to use it after a month for a second time and the vacuum bag was torn up. It was inside the box the whole time. Now I can’t get a replacement. You get what you pay for

I’m from Europe, here battery charger for Ferex are always available in Aldi stores
Dont bother. They or Lidl do a Parkside hoover that doubles up as a leaf blower as well!

Garbage and that’s where it went after 5 months . Ferrex would not stand by their product. Worked for a couple of months ( only used about 5 times for 5 -10 minutes each time) . Battery quit and Ferrex wanted original receipt which I do not have . Willing to bet most Ferrex employees don’t have their original receipt for the last blower they purchased either.
No worries , $40 lesson learned . Most of the time you get what you pay for in product and service and I should have done more homework before and purchased a reputable brand.

Actually I never throw out receipts for important purchases. I still have receipts going back 40 years.
