What a brilliant episode. Our Australian vehicle production history is mainly just memories, but a small minority have these beautiful artifacts still in pristine condition to show, and its spectacular to see.

Flashbacks. Thank you! Former Police officer and in GDs I drove the F100 caged truck. Did my HWP certification through St Ives with Max Smith who was an instructor back then. Moved to Highway Patrol and started on VK V8, then VL Turbo ( saw one in the hoist 🥰) and Cordia Turbo during my service . We used to flip the lid on the VK air filter and it sounded awesome under full load. The bikes back then were BMW R100 RT then K100 LT. Great times and great job Tony for keeping the history intact 👍

Another great episode, Mr. Fletch! I drive a 2008 Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor for my State Agency. I’ve had it 8 years with only 151,000 miles on the odo. I’m trying all I can to hang onto the car, but I believe I will be on the losing end of that battle as the fleet office tells me they don’t want to put anymore money into the Crown Vics so the cars can be retired out of service. The 1992-2011 Crown Vics are the best all-around police car.

Hey Donald. Thank you for your interesting comment. Indeed - I have a soft spot for the Crown Victoria. I think 2011-2012 was their final year? Please correct me. They were incredibly durable, still using a "chassis". Commercial work designated - Cop Cars & Taxi Cabs...they were a tough package. I am sure glad that you appreciate this vehicle Donald. Can you buy it from the department? Cheers & bests Fletch 👍

Those preserved police car's are a treat. Especially the XC hardtop, the VL turbo brings back memories of losing my licence to them in highway patrol livery. The F100 bum wagon's were an uncomfortable, anxious ride when stuck in the back with a couple of mischievous, sadistic copper's up front 😒😅

I remember driving past a Wired Area along Canterbury Road in the late 70's. And in it were two unmarked black Police cars. One a Phase 4 ? Falcon and the other an SLR 5000. And I thought Oh the Falcon for Highways and the torana for inner City. Apparently the Ford was geared to have it's Torque/Acceleration down low for inner city Bank robberies and a lower Top Speed. The SLR was the Highway so a Bathurst model with a higher Top Speed. I don't know how true that story was when told to me. But i definitely saw those Cars

@@khylerin70 seemingly they could only corner at plus 90 Ks and every driveway it steered into the gutter.

When they divided the phone book A-L went under the driver's seat and M-Z went under the passenger seat. But they never had quite the same impact. 😂

Look forward to having a look at that collection. So true Tony, seeing images of those highway patrol Chargers made me recall that time in the mid 70s when I took my mate’s bike with its rusted out muffler for a blast along the road down to Berowra Waters. Making a hell of a racket in the semi rural surrounds until I was pinged by that 340 Charger near Berrilee. Worst of all, I had to return the bike to my mate with the defect notice issued. Fond memory now, but had no fond regard for the highway patrol officer at that time in my youth.

I would listen on my rare amateur type radio to the police at night for hours as a young teenager. The high speed chases with the police giving their directions and the excitement in there voices with the Nee Nor Nee Nor Bosch horns going in the background
I remember one night the police couldn't catch the offender in his faster car and the police gave up the chase The officer came on the two way saying we have got bucklies with these 4.3 litre Holden HJ HX kettles 😆 The 5 litre blue Kingswoods were rarer mainly for the sergeants and highway patrols Those were the days....

Believe it or not my mate in NZ has an ex NSW Police Patrol XC Coupe like the one shown. It was imported but not by him to NZ, we discovered it in a car yard called Mainline Motors in South Auckland. It pretty much was a Muscle Car, Car Yard, Oz, Yank, Euro, English cars and not many JDM's The car was in the yard selling on be half of the owner, my mate ended up buying it at the ripe old age of 16 going on 17. He still has it to this day, he is now 57.We drove it all over the place in NZ. From memory she's a 351c not sure if it was him who put a sec vac 600 Holley on it or it was all ready on it, fmx box, LSD nine inch diff with shitty 2.75:1 Mind you he would have the speedo needle wound right to as far as it could go. Had the light switches and what not on the ceiling console but was removed and had a twin split sun roof installed due to holes where the flashing lights and wiring that entered into the roof. Plus in the 80's in NZ that is, getting sunroof's installed on any cars was the in thing to do.

The days when these cars were a P Platers Budget. What fun we had as at that time they were a dime a dozen we'd rip off all the pollution gear. If your had some extra cash you would rebuild a 650 double pumper Holley. Full around with the Jets. Then some extractors. And a nice set of wheels. The best memories of my life. Every weekend there would be 5 to 10 Ford's only Ford's were allowed in our club lol. But we made the exception to the Chrysler. And the Valiant Pacer slant 225 once we recognised quality that could take all Aussie conditions. Miss those days. We all have each other support. No mobile phones no internet just good old fashion fun. Clean and honest. But yep yellow stickers were part of the fun. And at the time out worst enemy... But now i can understand. We were getting around in 300+ HP on cars that compared to today's SAFETY. Were dangerous if you didn't know how to handle those cars. Thanks for the show. Keep them coming...❤
