Do good things Patrick” nice to meet a hero and have himturn out to be so soft spoken and kind. Met a few who have turned out to be tools.

Brian seems like a genuinely nice guy. He is also very down to earth, articulate, and conveys a sense of happiness. What a pleasant interview segment with a true legend and someone I greatly admire and respect. I am so glad that he is willing to share this story.
Dr. Brian May is a genius. Not only did he build his guitar from scratch using material lying around the house, not only did he device a pickup switch system unlike anything done before but, he also built the tools that were needed to build this historic instrument. The man is an amazing inspiration to all.
i wish he had said more about the pickups, where he got them or if they r homemade. such a cool guitar w/a lot of soul. never refretted. amazing! surely it has had a fret dressing.
He did make his own pickups origionally but when he bent a string they produced a loud scraping/screeching sound which he hated, and he never could work out how to fix the issue despite managing to work out what was causing it. So he walked down to the shop and bought the three Burns tri sonics which he modified slightly by covering the insides with araldite epoxy which reduced the unwnted microphonic feedback, he then wired the pickups in that famous wiring circuit with the individual on/off switch and the phase switch
It is just astounding to think that after all these decades, even after having the means to buy any guitar on the planet, that he has stood by the same guitar he's started with at 17. And having made it with his dad is all the more touching.
brian may is and always!! will be my number ONE favo. guitarist ..period! his tone. his experiments with sounds. his melodic, sing-able, emotive soloing. his simple but very catchy riffing. great songwriting. he's totally unique. his story. great guy. - very hard to beat and/or to replace. we are so incredibly fortunate and blessed with the fact that he's still around and even still playing live. we must enjoy every minute of it. - brian may is awesome!!

I love hearing to Brian he is such an idol of mine and such a humble and calm person.
I'm not a big fan of Rock & Roll, but this is an awesome video about a great guitarist and a guitar that he and his father created from discarded scrap material. My Respects.
JD RS
Not a big fan of Rock & Roll! That’s the saddest thing I’ve heard in a while
@@generalkenobi6869 it's sad that people have different tastes than you? What?
Mr.Pastorius
That people don’t appreciate rock and roll
General Kenobi you can appreciate it without liking it, the OP clearly does considering his undivided respect to Brian
What an amazing story. More people can appreciate this than just musicians. The guitar is even aesthetically appealing as well.
The other wonderful thing, he and his father built that together. Anytime he performs he always has a part of dad with him.
You got to give it to him and his dad, I mean he really gave the guitar some serious Mojo. What I find amazing is that when he hit it big he did not get a better one, and amongst a plethora of Gibson Les Paul 59s and vintage Strats and this and that, Brian still plays his no 1 he made with his Pop. You cant make this shit up
I am an enormous Queen fan and Brian is a God to me. About eight years ago I met him at Ed Romans guitars in Vegas. I had just has a Kahler put into an old strat. He came in and I freaked out. I shook hands with him and asked if he would play a few chords on my guitar. He took it and played the solo to We Will Rock You. And he handed it back to me andsaid “this is a sweet instrument. Do good things Patrick” nice to meet a hero and have himturn out to be so soft spoken and kind. Met a few who have turned out to be tools.

What a guitar God, Dr Brian May is, he is a living legend. Thank you, for an amazing video, telling the world, and TH-cam about your trademark Red Special guitar, Dr Brian May.
It had to be the best day when Brian & his dad finished making the guitar. And then referring to her as The Red Special . Brian & his Lady put out the most beautiful sound & then listening to her talk/sing is the most beautiful sound ever to hear. 🎸🎶💖
God bless Brian May!
My eyes get all teary when I listen to this story, what a special gift from his father..
Made a guitar from scraps!! I will never complain again.
Thank you Brian for inspiring me and my grandpa to build our own homemade electric guitar
He is such a lovely man. A total nice guy, intelligent and always great to listen to 👍👍👍
What I find most amazing is, he is like building that gorgeous sounding guitar was like yea me and my dad built this out of stuff laying around. So very brilliant, so unassuming, so sweet. Much love and respect for Dr. Brian May

This man amazes me. An astrophysicist,an animal rights activist,a clog enthusiast,an amazing craftsman and most of all probably one of the best guitar players to ever walk the earth.
And a stereoscopy enthusiast.
maybe get a reporter that knows perhaps a single damn thing about guitars...like delay?
Dan Edgar yea aha
Yeah that was cringy
"It sounded like there was three of you. Also, what's a string?"
Dan Edgar totally agree, even though im a woman. But then I play and own a few too and know a LOT about them. They dont hire these people based on skills or knowledge any more though, just on being politically correct and so called equal opportunities
Dead💀💀💀💀😂😂😂😂
Take it to the Pawn Stars : "I give you 18 bucks for it"
- Can you do 2 million pounds?
- "Look I`ll give you 19 dollars and I`m taking a big risk here"
Fred Rodrigues it’s so true
-Right here I have over 4000 autographs some consisting of Babe Ruth, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and more.
-Ok cool i get my buddy over
-Yep it’s authentic probably go for 55 thousand pounds.
-Ok you heard him I’ll give you a nickel
I think he had holly not valens sadly
@Black metal fan That's a real treasure!!! Rick would probably offer you 100 bucks for that!
@Black metal fan I know...just making fun of how rick from pawn stars offers peanuts for prize
Let me call in an expert I know on one of a kind, handmade guitars. He'll be able to get us in the ballpark.
I read about this guitar in Creem magazine back in the 70's. I think it's so cool that it's still here, (along with the rest of us). ..

legend!
big legend
Brian seems like a genuinely nice guy. He is also very down to earth, articulate, and conveys a sense of happiness. What a pleasant interview segment with a true legend and someone I greatly admire and respect. I am so glad that he is willing to share this story.
Those frets are the ones who first played the infamous Bohemian Rhapsody guitar solo. Wow.
Dr. Brian May is a genius. Not only did he build his guitar from scratch using material lying around the house, not only did he device a pickup switch system unlike anything done before but, he also built the tools that were needed to build this historic instrument. The man is an amazing inspiration to all.
i have no idea what he's talking about but i'd give him my heart
He is always so calm
i wish he had said more about the pickups, where he got them or if they r homemade. such a cool guitar w/a lot of soul. never refretted. amazing! surely it has had a fret dressing.
they are a set of burns tri sonic, he made his own pickups but it doesn't worked as well as the burns
Diego Ibarra
thanx for the info. so none of queen's songs were ever recorded w/his homemade pickups?
mjt11860 Correct, none were recorded with the home made pickups
He did make his own pickups origionally but when he bent a string they produced a loud scraping/screeching sound which he hated, and he never could work out how to fix the issue despite managing to work out what was causing it. So he walked down to the shop and bought the three Burns tri sonics which he modified slightly by covering the insides with araldite epoxy which reduced the unwnted microphonic feedback, he then wired the pickups in that famous wiring circuit with the individual on/off switch and the phase switch
Peely baii great info. thanx.
It is just astounding to think that after all these decades, even after having the means to buy any guitar on the planet, that he has stood by the same guitar he's started with at 17. And having made it with his dad is all the more touching.
that it one of the most beautiful guitars I have ever seen
Love Brians openness and honesty - no ego whatsoever - power to you Brian !!
He has all the money in the world and still uses the same guitar, the one his dad made for him, I RESPECT THAT !

I amazed that it was never regretted. That is amazing.
a real Master Piece. like your Dad said maybe better than any other guitar.
Such a smart, down to earth and kind personality. Brian May, please never change!
Is it just me or is Brian's voice relaxing to hear?
You and your father built a wonderful guitar. So perfect and unique!
Beautiful work 🤗 🎸❣
How I love this man!
The sheer awesomeness of that guitar is too much. It is so unique it belongs to the museum.
I am blown away. This is one of the greatest guitarists in the history of rock, and he handcrafted his guitar with shit lying about the house.

Such a gentle man. Softly spoken and humble.
I love that man.
That is the most priceless guitar EVER! it has his dad his mom and him in the craftsmanship I hope Brian's children cherish that guitar and it is passed down his line for hundreds of years.
AWESOME!
That's why the sound is so unique and remarkable. Love it!!
It's going to worth a gazillion bucks after Brian passed away..
+Tiyo Prasetyo

Brian May is One Of The Greatest Guitarists ever
I love the fact he mentions the man who maintains his guitar for him. Bravo to share.
I wish they made a brian may movie and use the actor eho played hik in bohemian rhapsody and there's a scene where brian and his dad building the guitar
Brian May has been and will always be my favourite guitarist and my inspiration
Can't even begin to imagine how much guitars must've cost back then, for it to be more affordable to build your own. Also, have to say, Brian May: I'll make my own guitar, with blackjack and hookers.
I'm choking at that last line 😂😂
Bender May? ^^
Thank you for sharing this piece of historic musical art. Brian May is a hero.
