How to build a kitchen from solid wood | SWR Handwerkskunst

The kitchen is the heart of the home, they say. And even more - it is the place where memories are created: Grandma's first pudding and the first cookies with Mom, all of that is created here. But how does a kitchen like this actually come into being?
In the t2 carpentry workshop in Hahnheim, Rheinhessen, solid wood kitchens are built - massive yet elegant, made to last a lifetime. Master carpenter Marvin Ufermann and his boss Arnulf Schmittlein take us along and show us how to build a kitchen step by step and give it its very own character.
To do this, wood has to be sawed, planed and glued, drilled, oiled and joined back together into one piece. For in the construction of the kitchen, hundreds of small hand movements interlock to create a colossus of wood weighing more than a ton in total. Weeks of work go into creating a kitchen that not only invites you to cook, but also to dream. A place that is made for creating memories.
