This collab roars " GIRL POWER!" Collabs are often difficult to do well, but both bands and the production crew NAILED IT! Dany, of The Warning, hinted the they plan to do another collab together in the future. Band-Maid and The Warning may be the new "Power Couple" in rock.
I was lucky enough to be at the concert in Tokyo where these two incredible bands performed on the same stage. This song was even better live. They were celebrating each other's talent throughout the performance. The Warning played for nearly an hour, then Band Maid took the stage for roughly the same amount of time. While the Warning was playing, members of BM were off stage cheering them on, and the opposite was true when BM took the stage. Then, after BM finished, they brought TW out, and they were all interacting with each itger and the audience. Suddenly, we nitice the stage hands pushing Pau''s drump riser back on stage right next to Akane's! We knew we were in for a t treat. And a treat it was. You need to check out the video TW just published about their time with BM. It really demonstrates the love and resoect they have for each other. And that affection was on full display and had me in tears. by the end of Show Them. I've seen Band Maid three times now, and that show was my first seeing TW. But I'm fixing that. I'm seeing the Warning in... Pomona, California Los Angeles Guadalajara Cologne, Germany London All in the next few months. Yes, I'm a fan. Great reaction, and be sure to watch, or better yet, react to the video I mentioned above. Sorry for being so long winded. Lol
just wanted to add that peeps were on edge of seat all nite in anticipation of just the possibility of the collab it only grew when the crew started bringing up soundboards. Then a roar when we saw them bring out Pau's kit! what an amazing concert. An experience that we'll cherish forever! dbl ♥
As a hardcore TWA member, I want to send love to BAND-MAID for this collaboration. BM are amazing musicians, and the Maidiacs are incredible fans. ❤️⚡🕊️🤘 We rock the world together!
Both bands have been around for over 10 years (almost 11 years). They have been following one another on social media for a while and were well aware of each other. The ladies in B-M are around ten years older than the sisters in TW. They met in the US at Aftershock. At that time they suggested doing something together. This is the result (and they have hinted that there is more collabs to come).
All the girls were fangirling to each other!. The song is more than just a collaboration, it's a fantastic moment shared between the eight girls. With a great deal of mutual respect and admiration. The Warning has posted a vlog of their trip to Japan on their YT channel that perfectly complements this video. Highly recommended. Good job!
Yes, I watched that. It’s more than music. A lot of people don’t understand. Two groups of ladies that are living their dream! It’s wonderful to witness .
It’s amazing to me just how much Miku’s guitar parts affect Band Maid’s style. Sure, she is “just” playing fairly simple chords, but with the usually heavy distortion and low end overdrive of her tone she ends up holding down the root of the chord in a manner usually occupied by the bass player. It allows Misa to range all over her bass without anything apparently missing from the song. Ale doesn’t have that option except in special places in songs so has developed a more traditional but still creative style. Both are absolute masters of their craft (as are all of these ladies) and are my two favorite rock bass players performing today.
Yep, Miku not knowing how to play at first (and limited time to learn with her five other jobs within the band) turned out to be a feature rather than a bug.
My favorite 2 bands today. Different approaches but the similarities. Sound, playing, songwriting, singing, lyrics, personalities, its all there. 8 beautiful badasses.
The bands knew of each other and met at Aftershock in 22. They talked about doing something then and kept in touch. Band-Maid asked The Warning to come to Japan to do a show together and The Warning did a short tour. They got together during that time and did this. My understanding is Kanami wrote the song with both bands in mind. Here's when they met th-cam.com/video/pTtH8jozrQQ/w-d-xo.html
I was smiling ear to ear watching all eight of them in the same room, working on the song. Band-Maid working on their English and Spanish, The Warning working on their Japanese. The fun, respect and affection they have for each other very evident. The two bassists became very close. Misa’s outro bass on the song a tribute to Ale’s outro bass on TW’s song Survive. TW have invited B-M to perform with them in Mexico and to sing with them in Spanish.
Nice reaction. Great collaboration song. Both bands are great. Btw, Ale does have a history with Jazz and funk training. Pablo Gonzales Sarre was hear mentor/teacher. He’s bassist for Los Claxons and there is a YT video of her at a young age as he instructs her.
The 2 bands first met a couple years ago, at a festival I think. The Warning played 3 shows in Japan in June, 1 with Band Maid. They flew over a couple weeks early, got together with Band Maid, finished the song and shot the MV. Kanami composed , and made it challenging, writing it in a higher key than Saiki and Dany usually sing in. Lyrics credited to Miku and The Warning. Shorts were posted in the lead up to this release, highlighting the 'duels', Dany vs Kanami, Akane vs Pau, etc, and Miku got a solo short. They did play it live at that joint concert, with all 8 ladies on stage, but only a teaser clip has been officially released. DO NOT react to the full song fan cams, many of those that did got copyright strikes. Kanami and Dany did an interview on PRS Guitars Japan, mentioning that they should get together again in Mexico. Dany made the challenge to do a song in Spanish. In one of the interviews mentioning a possible future collab, Dany joked that it would be in a lower key. Suggestions for each band: "Automatic Sun' by The Warning, several versions available. Band Maid "Hate?" (Official live).
Was lucky enough to be at their joint concert in Tokyo where they live debuted this song Really hoping that they release an official live video of this from that concert too! Really? I'd say that 2/3 the reactors/comments seem to think it sounds more a The Warning song? I'd say that there's elements of both bands in it. Regardless it's awesome!
Kanami wrote this song to expand the vocal range of both Saiki and Dany. Saiki and Dany didn't think they could do it, but Kanami knew that they could.
Hey man. Figured it was only a matter of time before you'd get around to reacting to Band-Maid's joint collaboration with The Warning in the form of Show Them. Apparently, this had been in the works for some time after Band-Maid first crossed paths with The Warning at Aftershock 2022, with the collab finally coming to fruition two years after that joint meeting backstage at the aforementioned Aftershock festival. Musically, while this is a joint collab between two fantastic groups of women, I get the sense that Band-Maid may have gone out of their way to accommodate The Warning's more pared back musical approach rather than saddle them with a considerably more intricate arrangement, which is often par for the course with Band-Maid though less so in the case of The Warning. The first thing, as you happened to pick up upon earlier, was the difference in vocal tones between Saiki and Dany, with Saiki's being more direct while still retaining enough bite vocally vs. Dany's more layered and raspier vocal attack. Similar goings on in the drums, bass, and guitar departments. First up being Akane and Pau, with Akane's more relaxed, subtler approach to the kit vs. Pau's rawer, more direct, hard-hitting style. A beautiful way of describing Akane's approach to the kit would be this brief quote from the late, great Charlie Watts of The Rolling Stones, "Playing with great intensity, yet very quietly." Second being Ale and Misa's considerably different playing styles and sound, with Ale's leaner, more treble based style and sound vs. Misa's slightly busier, intricate, molasses thick style and sound. Last but not least, being Dany and Kanami. Dany's sparer, more direct, fewer notes played approach vs. Kanami's slightly busier, more notes played approach. At least in this song. For further viewing and background info as to the creation of Show Them, I highly recommend that you head over to The Warning's channel and check out the behind the scenes video, covering not only The Warning's reunion with Band-Maid in Japan, but many other choice moments either in the studio, onstage, or backstage. Fantastic reaction/breakdown/analysis of the song in question.✌️❤️🤘🇦🇺
If you listen carefully you can hear Ale playing with Akane and Misa playing when Pau is drumming. Ale is playing very straight sixteenths with slides and Misa is throwing a syncopated rhythm that's pretty distinct. Everything about this is very intentional
I don't think Dany's vocals are doubled. I think they are both singing in those parts where you hear double tracks. You can see it in some of the shots where they show Dany singing and then cut to both of them and you can see Band-Maid's singer's lips also moving. I could be wrong but that's what it seems like to me. Great reaction and thoughts on both bands! 🔥🤘⚡
Excellent breakdown good sir! Thanks for your insightful and appreciative comments! This song is a diminutive middle finger to anyone or anything that dares to oppose their paths to world domination! Sassy to the nth degree!
There's some behind the scenes/making of videos of them making this, when they're not all fangirling over each other you can see the huge amount of mutual respect they seem to all have. While I agree it sounds more like a Band-Maid song, I'd argue that the "Woah-oh"s in the chorus are a The Warning hallmark. I really liked the way you did your compare and contrast with Misa and Ale's bass styles, I'm gonna have to remember to use the "foundational bedrock bass player" description for Ale as it's perfect. All that being said, it's an absolute banger of a song by two of the best rock bands out there now. Also, if you're looking for suggestions on songs to react to, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the brand new Linkin Park song "The Emptiness Machine" with their new female lead singer.
Miku sang with Dani, in the Warning's Japan vlog you can see them practice together. As far as fangirling Dani and Kanami seemed to really enjoy eachother's company and did a PRS video together.
I've been a fan of *The Warning* since 2015, supported their Patreon, Kickstarters, all of it. I see you did the studio version of 'Evolve' but I'll suggest the 2023 MTV VMAs version. They are live, in front of an audience, and they show amazing stage presence and crowd control.
My 30 years in rockbusiness, mainly backstages and stage, I learned one thing. 99% on male ”rockstars” are divas and 75% of them are d**kheads 😅 Never met any female rocker who was behaving badly or anything like that. This is one reasons that nowadays I mainly listen All Female bands. Not to mention that Band-Maid is most talented band that I’ve ever seen or heard. Magical band 🔥❤️ Almost same goes with The Warning, their musicianship is maybe not same level as B-M’s but they still are one of the greatest allready. Lovin’ both bands ❤️
The Warning meets Band-Maid at Aftershock Festival 2022 th-cam.com/video/pTtH8jozrQQ/w-d-xo.html A lot of people were hoping this was going to happen since then, we started getting serious vibes that something was going to happen in the spring of this year. As for Ale and Funk style playing, yes she can, it was part of her lessons from Pablo. You can see some highlights of the things she was learning in this video The Warning - Ale y su maestro Pablo (bajista de Los Claxons) th-cam.com/video/1i4oFvVUJQU/w-d-xo.html Just as a heads up so that you are not too surprised when this happens again, on a PRS video with Dany and Kanami there were mentions of more songs (yes more than one) and maybe in Mexico next time. Q&A with Dany (The Warning) & Kanami (Band-Maid) | PRS Guitars Japan th-cam.com/video/vyUsaA4ZqTQ/w-d-xo.html
W I N !!!!! 🎀 W I N !!!⚡I think we can just say, at their level, Band-Maid and The Warning are equal peers at the very top of the "Rock" pile. I’ve watched “Show Them” 50 times now and still haven’t been able to drop my eyes down to the lyrics.🤘😂 Thx, Chaos! Btw -- I was just thinking: Band-Maid and The Warning, two very different bands, found something that would bring them together -- music! If only the people of the world could find something that would bring them together. I know... if peace and prosperity isn't enough, how about uniting for the very survival of our species! 🤔
You may think this song was written by Band Maid, or you might think it's a The Warning song. I definitely hear elements of several Band Maid songs in this song, and I hear a lot of rhythms and riffs out of the last two The Warning albums. The lyric page credit both bands as writers. What amazes me though is, how did they write and record this great song, in the short time they had together in Japan?
Proud member of The Warning Army here. Any of the songs they’ve just released from the Pepsi Center concert are superb (Disciple, Z and Choke so far, many more to come)
You made a good observation about their "solos" being simply continuing the phrase of the melody. There was no dueling going on. That's part of what made the live performance so special and emotional. Here is the link to the video I told you about in my previous comment. th-cam.com/video/G-EuJYUUe5E/w-d-xo.htmlsi=DeWqiMidy2bOEnrl
I agree with what you described about "flow in lyrics", western lyrics (especially English) are more fluid, because of the different, more rounded texture of the language. Japanese bands in general write lyrics to create certain texture. Band-Maid though, while they make the best use of percussive texture of Japanese language, they (Miku) also make sure that the lyrics have strong emotional impact. This song is so stripped back especially the drums. I think the main reason this song doesn't resonate with me is that the infectious groove created by Misa and especially Akane is missing.
Come on, man! it's not April 1st! They've both been bands from about 2013 from what I've read, but Band-Maid are several years older. Some folks notice a similarity between the bass outro here and in the outro in The Warning's "Survive". IMO they're not wrong. Might be an homage to TW, Ale and "Survive".
i see fellow TWA having great suggestions and you can't go wrong with any of them. In the 7 yrs i have been following TW i have only loved them more. TW have also inspired a great community and showed that anyone can be on stage rocking out. an 11yo girl taught herself Dany's parts from Queen Of The Murder Scene at 11yo and now at 17yo Quinn guitar/vocals has a band with Aria 15yo bass/vocals and Jonah 16yo drums. some of us TWA have been supporting them and after their debut single dropped 604 Records contacted them and eventually signed a distribution only deal allowing FTF full control. Be Good To One Another and ROCK ON !!
I have to say that Band Maid just don't do it for me. But this was a great collaboration for The Warning, helping to get them well known in Japan. And I'm sure they will reciprocate with an invitation to bring Band Maid to Mexico.
FYI... Misa is known to be quite shy. It was said that it took a while for her to get comfortable and interact with Ale. She certainly let her guard down after a while because I saw a picture of Misa taken by Ale and Misa is hamming it up with her fingers in her "nose holes". Misa also mentioned on IG that she cried when they eventually had to part ways.
I don't compare the bands. I just like The Warning more.. It's The Warning vocals, lyrics, live energy that separates the two for me. Individually they're very different...
Hi mate, best breakdown of this song I've seen yet, nice work. I've followed both bands for several years, so this came as a dream collab. But always a possibility after seeing the video clip when they met at Aftershock in the US, the mutual respect was so evident. You made an interesting point about Japanese singers tackling English lyrics. Asami from Lovebites is similar in how she fits the words around the cadence of the music, sometimes to the detriment of pronunciation and meaning! I have no issue with this, her amazing voice is the bands fifth instrument. The critics should try singing in other than their native language to see how hard it is. Kudos to Saike in this song for matching it with Danny, and at a higher pitch than she is accustomed to. btw, I'm seeing Korean all female rock band Rolling Quartz on Sunday at their Sydney gig, looking forward to a great show. If you haven't seen them, check out their MV Blaze, or for a different take on their diversity, the studio version of Reminiscence, both on their official channel. Cheers.
Nice kick-off 😁 and good analysis. Let’s see what the next stage of this collaboration will bring, I’m quite sure they were rather serious when they mentioned the intention for a re-match in Mexico. I would like to hear what Band-Maid sound like in a Pau song, and with a different sound engineering… their regular seems to use more compression than most Japanese motorcycle engines.
Don't apologize for your comments about women in rock. They have been under-represented. There are a lot of reasons why, but talent is not one of them. The first all-female #1 rock album was The Go-Gos "Beauty and the Beat" in 1982. Do you know what the second one is? Trick question. It HAS NOT HAPPENED SINCE!!
Thats all right we all have our favourites. I love the Warning (saw them live in Glasgow this summer. Dany is a star) but love Band-Maid just a llittle bit more
The Warning is the real deal brother..try Z live at The Pepsi Center Cdmx or DUST TO DUST LIVE AT TEATRO METROPOLITAN CDMX 2022 .. THE WARNING is My favorite band..🌎✌️
The Warning just posted a video blog on their Band-Maid experience. They all cried at the end...
As did I at the end of the song when seeing it live in Tokyo. What a cherished memory.
Kanami is such a softie she looked distraught ath the parting
@@michaelthain4488she also got great praise for her music from Pau, and that overwhelmed her a bit.
@thomasalbrecht5914 Yes I noticed that.
@@michaelthain4488 We could see that kind of emotion from all of them after they finished the song. I was in tears by the end.
This collab roars " GIRL POWER!" Collabs are often difficult to do well, but both bands and the production crew NAILED IT! Dany, of The Warning, hinted the they plan to do another collab together in the future. Band-Maid and The Warning may be the new "Power Couple" in rock.

You can see some highlights of the things she was learning in this video The Warning - Ale y su maestro Pablo (bajista de Los Claxons) th-cam.com/video/1i4oFvVUJQU/w-d-xo.html
Just as a heads up so that you are not too surprised when this happens again, on a PRS video with Dany and Kanami there were mentions of more songs (yes more than one) and maybe in Mexico next time. Q&A with Dany (The Warning) & Kanami (Band-Maid) | PRS Guitars Japan th-cam.com/video/vyUsaA4ZqTQ/w-d-xo.html
There are some 120 BAND-MAID songs waiting for you.
🤘🤘🤘
🤘🏻⚡️🇯🇵🔥
Dany helped Saiki with English.Misa and Ale are friends.
Proud member of The Warning Army here. Any of the songs they’ve just released from the Pepsi Center concert are superb (Disciple, Z and Choke so far, many more to come)
You do know that Band Maid was founded in 2013 and has been touring in the US and Europe since 2016?
You made a good observation about their "solos" being simply continuing the phrase of the melody. There was no dueling going on. That's part of what made the live performance so special and emotional.
Here is the link to the video I told you about in my previous comment.

It's been coming since 2022, when they met in the US.
U missed it miku has the longest solo of the whole song
🕊
Yep...muy muy kyun! Sneaky Pigeon, Po!
Yup. The Bands are about the same age, but the Band Maid ladies are about a decade older.
i see fellow TWA having great suggestions and you can't go wrong with any of them.
The band this comment is referring to is "Freeze the Fall", try the song "Daughters of Witches".❄❄❄

You know, I wonder how many young musicians these two bands have inspired to create a rock band of their own.
Ted talks 2017 is a wonderful introduction. Sharks is a great current song. Great reaction, thank you.
It's obvious you do not know how Band Maid creates their songs.
the warning 🤘🤘🔥
TW🤟.
