@@Pigpen_YT Keep in mind the clones were never designed to fight as cloning in the Halo Universe is still very shoddy, most of the clones died a couple of months after being created and the ones that survived were crippled. As such, they couldn't use the clones as soldiers. They stole real children and replaced them with clones in order to cover up the disappearances.

The Spartan cloning facility is probably the facility where they flash cloned the kids who became the Spartans. Flash cloning is a thing but it pretty much gives the clone genetic degradation so they die very soon after being made.
I was hoping someone would point out, there is cloning in halo. The spartan 2s were kidnapped and replaced by clones that would get sick and die soon after, there was a young master chief clone at one point.

Around 45 minutes in, Sandtrap is always scary for me, mainly because in my ENTIRE LIFE (before early this year) I had never played on it with anyone else, no multiplayer, just forge. so I was always alone and felt trapped but learned to love the isolation got so weird that when I finally played an online mcc match, it just felt wrong, almost like a bunch of people invaded my house and started killing eachother. weird feelings just wanted to drop that, huge thanks for the amount of effort you put into these

I remember completely the VidMaster Challenges with my best friend Samantha and two online friends. Getting the Recon armour was awesome, but now thinking back to it I just love that we had fun together. Sam died about 2 years ago (drunk driver) she'd have loved Halo Infinite and everytime I play it or any other title in the franchise I just remember past. Rest in Peace, Samantha. Fun fact, on top of the tower in Halo Infinite, there is a small stage and an album cover with Craig’s face, you can interact with it and see a small poem written by Craig on the back. So the devs definitely loved the meme too.
The rat having detailed insides is based off of a early design concept from Halo Combat Evolved development where being damaged after getting killed or getting super combined would have resulted in body parts being dismembered but the code was buried to not be used because of being considered extremely gory. But the concept was brought back in the novels and comics

Tbh I thought it was good because of how it showed a close team of soldiers slowly fall apart, go mad and turn on each other while trying to survive and complete an objective. Also it expanded upon how a LetkGolo colony works outside of their armor. Like I’m talking it was straight up horror shit. THE GOD RETURNS! Quick Edit while watching: When Spartan BLACK was killed of by the Didact I was genuinely saddened. The fact we had those Gen 2 Spartans available for interesting story and conflict with the new Spartan Gen 4s and they just wasted all of it for a "oooh didact scary" moment. We barley got more than a comic mini-series worth of character development out of them, but just imagine the more interesting narrative that could have been crafted using a Spartan team that didn't act squeaky clean and were prone to violent outbursts. I know Blue Team basically deserts, but it doesn't make me feel any better.

You did mention you don't touch the Halo EU much but the great tragedy of Guilty Spark's existence is that he always lives while the world falls apart around him. From his original existence as Chakas to becoming the Monitor at the Iso-Didact's request to the destruction of Installation 04 and later 04B, Spark is cursed to live interesting times. It is for this reason I think it's for the better that he's alive, because in the end, the story of Halo is also his story: the story of a man out of his depth and completely, utterly alone - until one day, he isn't, and then he has to deal with that and the consequences of his own isolation.
I actually though the "Johnson but not Johnson" entry was about a secret enemy in Halo 4 on the mission "shutdown." In the hangar, if you kill all or at least most of the friendly NPCs in the room, a new enemy wielding a shotgun and looking suspiciously like Johnson would spawn in from a docked pelican. This of course could not be Johnson as it was well after his death in Halo 3, but I think it was just meant as a callback.

Hey I've been watching this and loving it, but I thought I'd let you know some stuff I noticed. 11:33 - Cortana on Halo 3 was the missing mission after floodgate. If you look up at the beginning, you can even see the hole on the top is the exact same as the one from floodgate. The original plan was to have Cortana drive a scarab to kill gravemind and you fight through the Mausoleum of the Arbiter, but had to cut it due to time constraints. They even kept it visible in the skybox by the crashed pelican on Cortana as an homage to what was lost, and the voice lines from the cut levels are still in the files. There's a playlist on youtube with a ton of cut voice lines found that you can listen to. Some are even from that lost city fight we only saw at PAX 2010 46:51 - you can do this on any difficulty. What matters is the order you do it in. As long as Kat calls you to ONI tower, you can do it 1:44:36 - I think they actually deciphered that this year. It was just symbols for the engineers to help guide themselves and the prophet to the superintendent I feel like the ending bit was a tad weird, but that's more a nitpick than a critique. For the Cyborg Master Chief on the last piece of Tier 1, for some reason I remember somewhere in Halo 2 and or 3 in the handbooks or something where it confirms he's a cyborg. I guess you could technically say he's a cyborg since he has ceramic lacing his bones but then you could say anyone with a prosthetic is a cyborg, though he does also have the AI slot implanted in his head, which counts as a cybernetic enhancement I think.
So .... As far as I understand- Master Chief being MIA/KIA at the end of Halo 3 is what Bungie wanted to close his story. It's 343 who brought Chief back because otherwise they couldn't sell any Halo games they made

11:47 It would have been between Floodgate and the Ark (I think) and involved Chief navigating through the Flood ship presumably to find Cortana's message and blow up the ship. However, after the original Cortana level was accidentally deleted with no backups, they had to hastily remake the level using those assets (which is why there are so few of High Charity's landmarks in Cortana). They cut this flood ship level as they obviously felt it would now be too similar to Cortana and just put it at the end of Floodgate. The original Cortana (I'm not sure on the validity of most of this, but the places I saw this from are reputable) level would have involved a fight against the infected Arbiters from the Mausoleum and a Scarab vs Gravemind bossfight I may be wrong about all of this, but I am 99% sure this is true.
I believe floodship was cut and merged with Floodgate due to poor pacing on their standard. There's a PowerPoint slide online of the original floodship map design that explain their level design process.
In halo 3 when you're shooting through that gap in the deployable cover, your not shooting through the gap. You're just shooting through the cover. The halo 3 deployable shields are one way
If you think about it, Halo 2 actually doesnt exist. What we ultimately got is not what Bungie originally intended to make. They wanted Halo 2 and 3 to be the same game as far as the story goes, but due to both a troubled development and strict deadlines, they had to make a lot of compromises with the campaign and rush through what time they had left during development. Its why the campaign is an unbalanced mess at higher difficulties, and its why there's a fair amount of cut content like a missing Warthog Run segment. I still love Halo 2 for what it is, but my god its really depressing sometimes how much untapped potential this game has. What i'd love to see at some point is some fan reimagining of Halo 2 that fits the initial concept of the game. Bonus points if it can run on the original Xbox hardware.
Chief is a cyborg though. Cybernetically-enhanced Organism. Cyb + Org. It doesn't matter in the end, but in-canon, most humans are cyborgs by this definition.

In the games you don't really get much of Chief's internal thoughts, but if you read the EU you realise a lot of his objective is driven, not simply by the mission, but by the desire to save lives. Lives are highly sacred to him; he understands the difference between "wasting lives" and "spending lives", but he still hates it. Halo 4 deals a lot with Chief's more robotic elements, and in Halo 5 it's quite clear that emotional leaning has completely driven him to become AWL from the UNSC. Sure, he believes he has a responsibility to try and get to her to convince her before anyone else, but that's driven by his desire to save Cortana, rather then see the UNSC clinically dispose of her in the most efficient way possible. He's emotionally compromised, he's just smart enough to see it, and he knows Blue Team will snap him out of it if it ever becomes too severe. For the moment, they'll indulge him as long as he's in control. So I wouldn't say he's more machine then man. You don't get a touching scene like in Halo 3 with Cortana's reunion if he's mostly machine.

I remember hearing that rejected shotgun got in contact with some devs that knew about the halo 3 level 090. All he said was that this level would have been like nothing ever seen in halo before. Another thought is that it was a the cut forerunner city on the ark, and the level was said to be so large it could have been it's own game. You can see pictures of it on halopedia and it was also featured in halo legends orgin episode. Many of the structures would be later used on the ark and the covenant missions.

You actually CAN see that friendly game of soccer between Locke and Buck. You have to actually move the ball yourself, and there's an Easter egg for getting it into a goal. And the decoy ability teabags the corpse to make it look more realistic. The developers actually went out of their way to make the decoy act as convincing as possible so that it would actually work. But not 100% convincingly, because that way, the player could act like a decoy as a feint. Walking at a wall or zig zagging in weird ways could be used to trick other players if you did it right.

Even though she was presumed dead, Chief still wanted to do his best to try and save her, so he put her in a cryopod in hopes that when they got to a ship with the proper medical facilities, they'd be able to recover her. Later on they ejected her cryopod with a tracker on it before the Pillar of Autumn crashed into the ring. After the end of Halo CE, Chief recovered her cryopod.

Also it expanded upon how a LetkGolo colony works outside of their armor. Like I’m talking it was straight up horror shit. I don’t understand how younger me didn’t have nightmares of a pack of worms combining into a person micking human sounds and eating people alive. Like shit getting fuel rodded is 10x better then that hell.
i bought halo nightgfall from cex a few weeks ago for like 50p and honestly even at that price it was to expensive. I imagine if i'd of seen it when i was younger i might of enjoyed it but it just looks like absolute shit now adays

Quick Edit while watching: When Spartan BLACK was killed of by the Didact I was genuinely saddened. The fact we had those Gen 2 Spartans available for interesting story and conflict with the new Spartan Gen 4s and they just wasted all of it for a "oooh didact scary" moment.
We barley got more than a comic mini-series worth of character development out of them, but just imagine the more interesting narrative that could have been crafted using a Spartan team that didn't act squeaky clean and were prone to violent outbursts. I know Blue Team basically deserts, but it doesn't make me feel any better.
I remember getting recon on my account with 3 friends, with that ghost run as our finale. It truly felt like the end of an Era and gaming has never been the same too me since. This Halo Infinite beta is starting too take me back though!

You did mention you don't touch the Halo EU much but the great tragedy of Guilty Spark's existence is that he always lives while the world falls apart around him. From his original existence as Chakas to becoming the Monitor at the Iso-Didact's request to the destruction of Installation 04 and later 04B, Spark is cursed to live interesting times. It is for this reason I think it's for the better that he's alive, because in the end, the story of Halo is also his story: the story of a man out of his depth and completely, utterly alone - until one day, he isn't, and then he has to deal with that and the consequences of his own isolation.

I actually though the "Johnson but not Johnson" entry was about a secret enemy in Halo 4 on the mission "shutdown." In the hangar, if you kill all or at least most of the friendly NPCs in the room, a new enemy wielding a shotgun and looking suspiciously like Johnson would spawn in from a docked pelican. This of course could not be Johnson as it was well after his death in Halo 3, but I think it was just meant as a callback.

Hey I've been watching this and loving it, but I thought I'd let you know some stuff I noticed.
11:33 - Cortana on Halo 3 was the missing mission after floodgate. If you look up at the beginning, you can even see the hole on the top is the exact same as the one from floodgate. The original plan was to have Cortana drive a scarab to kill gravemind and you fight through the Mausoleum of the Arbiter, but had to cut it due to time constraints. They even kept it visible in the skybox by the crashed pelican on Cortana as an homage to what was lost, and the voice lines from the cut levels are still in the files. There's a playlist on youtube with a ton of cut voice lines found that you can listen to. Some are even from that lost city fight we only saw at PAX 2010

For the Cyborg Master Chief on the last piece of Tier 1, for some reason I remember somewhere in Halo 2 and or 3 in the handbooks or something where it confirms he's a cyborg. I guess you could technically say he's a cyborg since he has ceramic lacing his bones but then you could say anyone with a prosthetic is a cyborg, though he does also have the AI slot implanted in his head, which counts as a cybernetic enhancement I think.
So .... As far as I understand- Master Chief being MIA/KIA at the end of Halo 3 is what Bungie wanted to close his story. It's 343 who brought Chief back because otherwise they couldn't sell any Halo games they made

11:47 It would have been between Floodgate and the Ark (I think) and involved Chief navigating through the Flood ship presumably to find Cortana's message and blow up the ship. However, after the original Cortana level was accidentally deleted with no backups, they had to hastily remake the level using those assets (which is why there are so few of High Charity's landmarks in Cortana).
They cut this flood ship level as they obviously felt it would now be too similar to Cortana and just put it at the end of Floodgate.
The original Cortana (I'm not sure on the validity of most of this, but the places I saw this from are reputable) level would have involved a fight against the infected Arbiters from the Mausoleum and a Scarab vs Gravemind bossfight
I may be wrong about all of this, but I am 99% sure this is true.
I believe floodship was cut and merged with Floodgate due to poor pacing on their standard. There's a PowerPoint slide online of the original floodship map design that explain their level design process.

What we ultimately got is not what Bungie originally intended to make. They wanted Halo 2 and 3 to be the same game as far as the story goes, but due to both a troubled development and strict deadlines, they had to make a lot of compromises with the campaign and rush through what time they had left during development.
Its why the campaign is an unbalanced mess at higher difficulties, and its why there's a fair amount of cut content like a missing Warthog Run segment. I still love Halo 2 for what it is, but my god its really depressing sometimes how much untapped potential this game has.
What i'd love to see at some point is some fan reimagining of Halo 2 that fits the initial concept of the game. Bonus points if it can run on the original Xbox hardware.
Chief is a cyborg though. Cybernetically-enhanced Organism. Cyb + Org. It doesn't matter in the end, but in-canon, most humans are cyborgs by this definition.

In the games you don't really get much of Chief's internal thoughts, but if you read the EU you realise a lot of his objective is driven, not simply by the mission, but by the desire to save lives. Lives are highly sacred to him; he understands the difference between "wasting lives" and "spending lives", but he still hates it.
Halo 4 deals a lot with Chief's more robotic elements, and in Halo 5 it's quite clear that emotional leaning has completely driven him to become AWL from the UNSC.
Sure, he believes he has a responsibility to try and get to her to convince her before anyone else, but that's driven by his desire to save Cortana, rather then see the UNSC clinically dispose of her in the most efficient way possible.
He's emotionally compromised, he's just smart enough to see it, and he knows Blue Team will snap him out of it if it ever becomes too severe. For the moment, they'll indulge him as long as he's in control.
So I wouldn't say he's more machine then man. You don't get a touching scene like in Halo 3 with Cortana's reunion if he's mostly machine.

I remember hearing that rejected shotgun got in contact with some devs that knew about the halo 3 level 090. All he said was that this level would have been like nothing ever seen in halo before. Another thought is that it was a the cut forerunner city on the ark, and the level was said to be so large it could have been it's own game. You can see pictures of it on halopedia and it was also featured in halo legends orgin episode. Many of the structures would be later used on the ark and the covenant missions.

If im not mistaken, this is playing on the lore reason of "Spartans never die, they're just MIA" so as to show how immovable spartans are. the public is meant to believe that spartans are unkillable, thus, if they die in action, the public is told they are instead, Missing In Action.

You actually CAN see that friendly game of soccer between Locke and Buck. You have to actually move the ball yourself, and there's an Easter egg for getting it into a goal.
And the decoy ability teabags the corpse to make it look more realistic. The developers actually went out of their way to make the decoy act as convincing as possible so that it would actually work. But not 100% convincingly, because that way, the player could act like a decoy as a feint. Walking at a wall or zig zagging in weird ways could be used to trick other players if you did it right.
Space combat in halo would be immediately interesting. So many different interpretations in mods, yet never realized.

During the fight for Reach, Linda took 3 charged plasma pistol shots and her vital signs were negative. Even though she was presumed dead, Chief still wanted to do his best to try and save her, so he put her in a cryopod in hopes that when they got to a ship with the proper medical facilities, they'd be able to recover her.
Later on they ejected her cryopod with a tracker on it before the Pillar of Autumn crashed into the ring. After the end of Halo CE, Chief recovered her cryopod.
