    There was never a a cooler guy with a tambourine in the history of rock and roll than the great Gene Clark.♏💕

    I love the brief glimpse of a girl in the audience wearing granny glasses, just like Roger tMcGuinn.

    What always surprised me in this video was Gene Clark leaving the front row to Mc Guinn and Crosby and then slowly coming back for the last chorus. Indeed, he was the most charismatic member of the Byrds and was attracting light. Thinking about how he finished being entirely forgotten by the music industry shows how cruel it is.

    "Rather than attempting three-part harmonies like the Beatles (or five-part harmonies like the Beach Boys), the Byrds almost always employed the two-part harmony strategy of the Everly Brothers."

    T.A.M.I.~the greatest rock 'n' roll live concert in history imo. (Check out Glen Campbell playing in the band on this DVD.)

    Michael Clarke was a bit of a thumper wasn't he? That said, a band as reliant on intricate vocal harmonies like The Byrds was always going to have trouble due to the limitations of the equipment of the day (no monitors, etc.). There was just no way without monitors that the singers could ever properly hear themselves over the din of the guitar amps. That said, I'm just thankful we have this (warts and all), as so little actual live performance footage of the original lineup exists.

    Crosby looks like a goofy young kid. In a few years he would transform into a world-weary Woodstock hippie.

    The screaming probably would’ve been about 2-4 times worse than that if it were the Beatles standing there

    Gene's singing a fraction flat. Should have been mixed down a fraction.

    • @Kwolfx
      @Kwolfx 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You mean Roger McGuinn. He's the one singing lead on this one. Frankly, the whole band's tempo feels a little slow. Like they're not really into it.

    • @billwhite9703
      @billwhite9703 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Kwolfx Please listen. Gene's is the lower (and flat) voice. Note when he steps away from the microphone. McGuinn sings in tune. When Gene comes in the second time he does a lot better.

      You what? This is garage rock, baby - deal with it.

    • @billwhite9703
      @billwhite9703 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @mcmike100 - Gene was pretty anxious and it rubbed off a bit, not much, on McGuinn. Micheal Clarke's stance is stiff, for sure. You certainly can't say David Crosby's stiff here though... he's almost oozing into the floor.

    • @billwhite9703
      @billwhite9703 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@huwgriffiths7271 It's not garage rock. It's just live. I agree that mcmike should relax and go with the flow. He's stiffer than the band! 😱

      Michael Clarke got better over the next few years, but he's a super primitive drummer at this point. It drags the whole performance down.

    • @Lilliputian63

      LOL....yeah it is stiff like taffy, but there is a certain attractiveness to it don't you think?

    It doesn't sound the greatest, and I'm pretty sure it's Michael's drumming. It sounds like he's using the kick in place of the hi-hat. If he'd just let up on the kick and go a little harder on the cymbals, it would be a lot better.

    Dylan's epic, historic, timeless original makes all covers pale in comparison...This simply turns it into a nice little pop tune

    Ahh the mid 1960s when chicks were still into guys, free love and a white guy playing guitar was sexy for females. 50 plus years later it's simply a distant black and white analog memory.

    I see a comment that David is really high, well, I sure as hell can't tell. One of my favorite groups, but can't figure out why they needed the guy with the tambourine. Just another guy to split the money with. I read somewhere he wrote some of the music, non of which I remember.
