Thanks Luke for taking with you.
This Weekend ,my wife comes with me for the first time for an overnighter.
    I hope,that is not her last time😅
    Greetings from Germany

  • @alexanderweaver4838
    @alexanderweaver4838 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Great overnighter, Luke! I experienced that "flight or fight" years ago on the Mogollon Rim in Arizona and it involved facing a mountain lion. It was in a spring mode above me maybe 50 yards on a rocky ledge. It could cover that distance in just leaps. I yelled for my buddies to hurry and help me and as they ran back to me the animal turned and fled. I had to burn my underwear in the camp fire that night. Luke, I love your military surplus overnighters as 90% of my gear is from my military career and from local surplus stores. I appreciate the ruggedness and the longevity of the gear.

The scenery was absolutely beautiful. I always enjoy hearing your stories. What a way to wake up in the middle of the night. Wish I could’ve seen the dear’s reaction, as you probably scared him too? Thanks again Luke.

I camped back in the woods next to the parking lot where you parked. I also went to the top of the hill, past the FAA communications center you past and found a secluded camping spot. There was a stand of spruce, a stack of fire wood and a box of wood shavings. You should have went up the mountain another 500 yards. I camped there 18, 19, 20, 21 August and caught the eclipse. Great videos. Keep on hiking and camping.

Not a cell tower, it's a repeater. It receives and relays a signal (usually data or phone) to another tower with identical antennas. They use these in place of laying fiber or copper over rough terrain. To reach your cell phone, it would need a cell transceiver which would have the tall narrow antennas you usually see on cell towers.

TheOutdoorGearReview.. Ya definitely a repeater.. I've helped work on many of those.. But I would think it's a repeater for that FAA sub station you found.. And like the other guy said.. They link a bunch of these together and shoot it back the whatever airport.. Anyways. Great video.. Definitely going to be checking out that cook set.. Probably be good for my fishing adventures lol.

There is also an amateur radio 70cm repeater there. Operating on 443Mhz. Nice height to give a lot of coverage. Likely co-located with those microwave links.

29:47 I camped at Bowman Lake campground in Glacier National Park one summer. At night near my tent I could hear a deer pull, chew and swallow grass just inches away. It was such a soothing sound that it made me go right back to sleep.

Man this was a cool trip!! I loved the sunset and sunrise! Very nice view!! Thank you for sharing! Another thing I was curious about is your alcohol stove set up?? Where did you get it, and how much did it cost?? Along with the brand of the stove and alcohol fuel you used??? If you could let me know I'd very much appreciate it!!! Looks like an efficient lightweight system!! Also the mess kit that worked so well to form fit the stove. Which I'm sure if a very efficient way to get every last bit of heat that stove produces!! Thanks for bringing us along on another awesome adventure!!! I very much enjoy your camping trips, and gear reviews! I'm an outdoor enthusiast and enjoy all things outdoors!!! Including camping, hunting, hiking, fishing, exploring, and many other things like snowboarding and cross country skiing! Your TH-cam channel, plus Corporals Corner. Are my two favorite TH-cam channels that go camping, and do gear reviews!! Although Corporals Corner does alot of bushcraft, survival skills, building shelters, and always a camping meal made over the fire. If you haven't checked out his channel yet. You definitely should!! He really knows his stuff when it comes to building shelters, and surviving with minimal gear! Alot like you, but most of the time he builds his own shelter and almost never stays at an actual campsite. He has an Amazon influencer page, that has alot of great gear. That he's already tested on camping trips. So whatever he puts his name behind is always good gear! Do you have an Amazon influencer page??? If so please respond and let me know the name I can use to access it!! Hope to hear back from you soon! Thanks again! Take care and stay safe!! Definitely do your best to not get the Corona virus! God bless you and God bless America!!🤜🤛🇺🇸🇺🇸

Thanks for this one. Trangia is made in Sweden and here in Finland we use them a lot. The military kettle or cup is an old Finnish army style system developed in the 1930's and still in use in the army and also hikers use it. That was our secret weapon during the II WW including the big 200 L soup kettle with wheels. Still used.

Front packs are awesome kit. I use a Ribz front pack ,large size - and find it indispensable. Amazing, what you can cram into it!
For hard use, it looks like your Hill People Chest Rig would be more rugged than a Ribz. I have had no issues with my Ribz, but the front zipper is critical for holding the pack together. If that zipper breaks, you'd have to figure out a field expedient repair - just to keep going. It appears that a Hill People Chest Rig is less likely to break, and if broken - could be kept quite useable, with just some quickly added cordage.

Great video Luke. Gotta love it when mother nature scares you out of a dead sleep. Was out camping and was startled by a raccoon looking for scraps of food. Two years ago I had my wife awaken me cause she heard a bobcat scream in the night. Told her to go back to bed as there was a fire still going and I had my trusty rifle next to me.

I will :) I would definitely stay away from those high frequency towers or even camp near them. for 3 reasons, lighting magnets, radiation, and you might get in trouble. amazing that the gates were open and no one around unless they were in the building.

The towers you asked about near the end of your video looks like microwave towers. They are used by the telephon companies to transport high-speed data circuits. Not used as much today as they were a few decades ago due to the use of satellites. Keep up with the good work, I can't get enough of it.

So cool to see you got to one of the Radio HAM repeater towers, I bought almost 1000 worth of HAM equipment about 2 years ago, got my license and call sign and have never used any yet, lol, how stupid ! although the license is good for 10 years, I got a really cool radio which I started to learn how to use and gave up because it is so much to learn about it, lol, tried to make contact once calling up announcing my call sign but got nothing, lol, so oh well, one more of those unnecessary expenses! The place that sold me the equipment went out of business and there are no more places in town that supports Radio enthusiasts, or just one really small place that gather a bunch of old timers who have been doing it their whole life..maybe one day I would go back to it...my radio I got is an icon D-51

for anyone else wondering: "The sun dog is a member of the family of halos, caused by the refraction of sunlight by ice crystals in the atmosphere. Sun dogs typically appear as a pair of subtly colored patches of light, around 22° to the left and right of the Sun, and at the same altitude above the horizon as the Sun"
