I legit just bought a hobby horse in Walmart because I couldn't stop riding it around laughing 😂 when I sent a video to my friend, she told me about this sport... I was like, "that's a thing?!? 😲" I would love to get into this! It's the weirdest yet coolest thing I've seen in a long time!
I love the determination and skill of this sport! I aslo do it but definitely at MUCH lower level than this! I would not be that courageous and jump then massive jumps! Well done to all the people who jumped there!!
@@ninamatthews8747 1) No, I don't. 2) The same reason any other sport is a sport - because someone started it. 3) Probably someone in Finland who had the guts to do it publicly. People have been doing this privately for a very long time.
As a hobby horse showjumper you have to train so much of your stamina for the shows and train yourself with high jumps you can roll your ankle on and i have done that before rolling your ankle on a pole is not fun-
a5 horse for me! my record rn is 95 cm with out a hh! (im 4’6). i can’t believe that these girls are doing this with a3 hobby horses ! 1:21 did it with ease as well!
It’s honestly my dream to go to the Finnish hobby horse championships I hope one day i will go but I need lots of training and also I live in the USA so I would have to travel there and traveling on airplanes are one of my biggest fears but also when your tall you kinda have a little advantage in these shows
Because in America we LOVE ridiculing and attacking people over doing or being different, Ive seen the nasty comments on another video news clip about an even in the states, it was unreal and totally expected to see that kind of behavior by the American rednecks.
QUOTE; "it's dumb, it's silly" It's obviously taking a lot of skill, practice, strength and endurance to do routines like this in pretty unnatural to humans leg movements, is it "dumb" or "silly"? I don't know, but is chasing a white ball around a baseball field or chasing after a torpedo shaped ball around a football field dumb or silly? is dressing in white clothes and going out in the hot sun to hit a little golf ball around the grass into holes "dumb" or "silly"? nobody bats an eye about those. I've seen model horse shows done like real horse shows, is that dumb or silly? I don't think it is, the participants start off with ordinary plastic toy Breyer horses and then customize and "kit bash" them with real hair, painting to look realistic, crafting and adding accessories, haltars, bridles and tac, and putting them in a realistic diorama scene and they are judged on all that at the shows. The toy horsesre secondary, they are judged on their skills of crafting and presentation. In the same way the stick horses are obviously customized and "kit bashed" and even made from scratch I'm sure, so all that takes time and skills to make an attractive horse head from fabrics and other materials, that's just the beginning- just the accessory to the whole thing which involves all the physical and mental work in the routines, training etc. to do these very physical routines- they are judged on how WELL they do their routines, the stick horse is an accessory like a football or basketball. I think it's pretty cool actually! "What about the horse head?" What about them? they are an accessory item, but one which is customized for appearances, so in a way it's akin to part of a costume for the performance, like a ballarina's tutu- she doesn't NEED to wear a tutu to perform the Nutcracker suite on stage DOES she? she could as easily wear tights, or even shorts and a tee shirt, the tutu like the stick horse is the costume/accessory part of the performance.
Ok This is awesome don’t get me wrong, I do it too, but I don’t think is qualifies as a sport. It is rlly amazing.. but I think the real sport is riding a real horse.
Does running after a white ball on the ball field qualify as a "sport"? how about running down a track and jumping hudles, is that a "sport"? these girls are jumping over essentially the same thing as those running track hurdles, but without the benefit of being able to swing their arms!
Riding real horses is not the same as hurdling. While both, horse-back riding and hobbyhorsing are though sports, hobbyhorsing and horse-back riding both are very different from eachother. They both use different types of muscle-strentgh. And theres also people like me, who just do not want to ride real horses :). I do hobbyhorsing for the athletics and the roleplay-part.
Riding real horses is expensive and not as affordable for many. Also nowadays some people don't want to force animals over jumps they might avoid otherwise. Probably this sport was created from kids' playing, but it became a rather challenging and serious issue - at least on that level.
is it scientifically proved its a healthy sport? is the technique used in those jumps verified by professional trainers? i understand it could be a hobby but if its taken to the point of competition and constant training, now thats a serious deal, because it can cause accidental injuries @@M54sBurrow

This looks so tough!! Having MONTHS of training makes sense! One day I hope to be able to do something like this XD

Silly? No way!
Is a stallion allowed to compete if it identifies as a mare though?
@@ianalan4367 I assume so 😂
It's silly due to stick horse. Remove it and you got just athletics. But yeah - athletics is a good training for stamina and coordination )
