I've been teaching SQL for the past 10 years and have had a successful career in the data industry. It's refreshing to see that someone like you understands the importance of SQL in analysis. Many people mistakenly believe that knowing Tableau or BI makes them perfect data analysts. How naive they are!

Yes SQL is so fundamental to any data role. I too feel like it is undervalued but it’s such an important skill. Very cool you’ve been teaching SQL 😎

    Hi Agatha,
I've been following your roadmap for a few months now, I recently completed my first dashboard project and wanted to tell you the background of it.
I currently work as a call center agent for a very a large company. I told my manager my desire to be a data analyst and he actually gave me a project to do that would benefit the company.
I happily took on the project as from your videos, I knew I needed projects for my resume. It took me about 2 days to complete, to be able to pull, clean, verify, and visualize the data.
My manager was ecstatic when I handed him the project. He told me he requested a similar dashboard, from the team of BI data analysts that my company employes 6 months ago 😁.
My manager is currently working up more projects for me to do and apparently there's talk of me getting increased compensation 🤑.
Thank you so much for your videos, and the online mentor you've been to people like me.

I used a variety of sources.
SQL - Sams teach yourself SQL series
Python/Excel - CodeAcademy BI data analysis course
      Looker - Udemy course
Would probably look into the UDEMY courses as they are one time fees

Hey! Wow this is amazing 🙌 and congrats to you! I love your story of taking initiative, being resourceful, and putting yourself out there. It really does pay off 😀
Most of my data knowledge honestly comes from hands on data work as you troubleshoot data and understand problem solving with stakeholders. Continue to work on data projects and it'll be a natural transition for you into a data analyst role. Thank you so much for sharing and the tip 🙏 Congrats again!!

Can you make a video taking about the pros and cons, who is a good fit for the 4 different career progressions you mentioned? I don’t see a lot of people talking about that and I don’t think a lot of people have that experience like you do in each of the 4 paths😊 could be a really valuable video for us. thanks

I am a Brazilian guy, a teacher of English and Spanish, currently living in Central Asia. I speak English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, Turkish, and Russian (currently studying Chinese). I am currently enrolled in a Data Analysis bootcamp. What are my chances of getting a remote job as a Data Analyst? Thank you so much for your videos.

I'm in the process of teaching myself Excel, SQL, Python, and then going to head into Tableau (still haven't decided between that or Power BI as I've heard mixed opinions of both)
But I'm finding that despite learning the programs and skills somewhat easily, I feel anxious about applying those skills towards the work of data analytics, and feel like I wont be able to grasp the day to day of a data analysis. It still seems like a foreign concept.
Did you have these same issues/concerns when you first started making the transition to this career, or were you able to understand it, and get used to the workflow easily?

Do you have any certifications? Like PowerBi or Tableu? Would you recommend an entry level position like AWS associate to get experience?

    Agatha, PLEASE HELP!
Agatha, I have a BA and an MA in Sociology. This is considered a “data-driven discipline”, I also taught courses for 4 years. So my data analysis consisted of SPSS, during g me education, and spreadsheets analyzing grades or other datasets for instruction purposes.
I also completed the GOOGLE Data Analysis Professional Certificate.
Would I still be “entry level?”
    Thanks in advance!
