As a Shulk main, I am learning so much from watching these Niko matches. I especially notice his use of using RAR back airs to approach and perfectly spacing them on Chrom. I don't often use back airs that much mostly because I'm afraid of landing with it but I really do see its use there. Just perfectly spacing these aireals and all the switching with this arts...this man is killing it with this character. Do wish we could see more Shulk players tho.
Virtua Fighter Agreed. I think it’s hilarious seeing Shulk player MU charts where he’s +1 against the majority of the cast and then the only characters he’s - against is Greninja, who has about as many players as Shulk does
elite463 Shulk also struggles against Pikachu and Joker. But the one I think he struggles with the most is Snake. I usually cp with Joker when I encounter a snake

@@alephbunchofnumbers Shulk gets steamrolled by so many characters. Palu, Pika, Joker, Snake are already bad matchups, but then against swordies specifically, Shulk also struggles. He's just bad against most of the high-ranking cast.

EJ Stephens the problem with nicko is that he can’t attend many tournaments, since he usually only goes to ones on the west coast (socal). It’s stupid, but sometimes it isn’t about how well you do at tourneys, but how many tourneys you go too. I mean nicko hasn’t been going to any big tourneys lately. If he was able to travel more he’d def be on PGR, but for now no because he can’t attend many big tourneys. Same applies to kome, can only attend Japanese tourneys and his results there ain’t even that great.

Nicko and Kome are hella agressive Shulk mains and combined with lack of matchup knowledge results in complete domination during a set. Only the top 10 players are capable of stopping these monsters
Don’t even think matchup knowledge helps that much. Shulk has amazing matchups on almost every character and at this point in his meta it’s very hard to find true counterplay outside of Greninja
Yeah I was surprised to see chrom get wrecked so fast. Would love to see mk Leo's chrom in here. He didn't even use his counter once in the battle. I know the reach of Shulk is rediculous, but in some of the few close encounters chrom didn't use the counter.
timtaylor1999 it’s just too punishable. As a chrom player that recognizes river’s skills over the others, I know I would have countered and would’ve gotten wrecked either way.
Shulk shield art - stops combos, juggles, and follow ups -stops kill confirms/multi-hit kill moves -creates up to a 15 second stalemate where literally nothing interesting happens -boring for both players -can be activated out of HITSTUN, wtf is the point of the "stun" part Terribly designed character
You forget that you can cancel shield whenever it's adventageous for the shulk, and most shulks don't like staying in shield longer than they have to, so no it doesn't create a 15 second period where nothing happens. Additionally shield has a consider cooldown which is more than you can say for other overpowered options in the game. Also please don't go around criticizing character design when you probably don't know the first thing about game design.

Shulk, just like Little Mac, Ryu & Ken, etc contains a game altering mechanic that completely undermines (imo) what makes smash so special. Yes there are characters that have a better disadvantage state than others, but Shulk can literally combo break and stop kill confirms with a single move. Acting out of hitstun should be impossible, otherwise what is the point. Its totally dumb and a terrible mechanic.

Nicko has been so good lately. If he started the season like this he'd be a lock for top 20 PGR. Might still get it. We'll see how good he can get
