    Let me know if you guys figure out how to waterproof the roof since I really like 90% of this camper and it would require the least modifications of any unit I've looked into so far. But the time and hassle of installing a cover, or fly as you call it, is just simply a deal killer for me. I can't imagine the frustration of trying to install it in windy conditions or in the middle of the night after the weather forecast is wrong again. Almost any time I leave the camper I would have to cover it just in case. It seems that this camper is designed for areas that don't get very much precipitation and then a fly was added to waterproof it so that it can be marketed for other areas/climates. You guys are so close...hopefully you can figure out a way to waterproof the roof/unit without a cover.

    Love the functionality this offers. Any need for a fly if used or storing with the top down in these type of conditions?

    • @ANTISHANTY
      @ANTISHANTY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks KJ! With the top-down, no-fly is required.

    Hey Luke this is going to look AWESOME behind my 2021 Toyota Tundra CrewMax TRD Sport😉
    I've been researching for almost 2 years, comparing every 4 season camper. My biggest concern was always spending a lot of money and having those inherent issues.
    Look forward to seeing you're new additions.🇺🇸

    Luke, Did you use the Extreme Winter Triangle Kit on this Trip? Or just the Fly cover?

    • @ANTISHANTY
      @ANTISHANTY  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Casey, great question! For this trip, the Extreme Weather Fly was plenty to keep the bite off. The Winter Triangle Kit is most helpful for folks up north who see some brutally cold temps.

    We are full timers. No permanent place. So if we are in winter, few days without sun, how does the battery get charged? In our current setup ( van) the battery is charged from solar as well as from the vehicle alternator. Is there a way to connect to an external battery ( one that hat can be charged while the towing vehicle is in motion)

    • @ANTISHANTY
      @ANTISHANTY  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question Eyal. The AntiShanty charges off of solar, vehicle, and shore power/generator.

    I'm still confused about the tarp on top. In what conditions is it needed/recommended and where is the threshold where you definitely will never need it. It doesn't give me confidence in the weatherproofing of the roof to see a tarp "just in case" or for "even more" protection from the elements. Does that mean if I buy your trailer (which I'm highly considering because there's nothing like it on the market that can fit us, our family, our bikes, and not be full of junk we don't need), and I don't get the tarp Ill find myself in a condition where I wished I had it? Thank you for your help so far and thank you for making a trailer without excessive farkles in it that we don't need! haha

    • @ANTISHANTY
      @ANTISHANTY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Chaz, LOL @ the excessive farkles comment, and you are welcome! It sounds like your style of adventuring would pair well with an AntiShanty! All of our models come standard with the Extreme Weather Fly. We use the word "fly" vs "tarp" because it operates in a similar fashion to a tent fly. In fair weather conditions, the EWF is completely unnecessary. 🏕 🌧 When camping, it isn't always easy to predict when you will need to put the fly on, but if a storm is brewing, it will completely seal the interior of the unit from the foul weather. Similarly, when it is nice out 🏕 ☀️, the simplicity of a quick setup, lots of natural light, and an outside-in feeling can be easily achieved in our hard sided adventure dwelling. We are bridging the gap between the camping, and cabin outdoor experience.

      @@ANTISHANTY Thank you for the clarification! So it's like the rainfly on my tent. Needed for windy rainy weather. Got it. That will help with our consideration. Sorry if I steal your ideas to build something in the future! haha

    Super cool camper! question on cold weather: when folded for transit, one side of the roof seems like it is interior to the camper, forming the ceiling. In the morning when there is condensation or frost on the roof, how do you deal with the moisture now being "inside" the camper? Do I understand the folding mechanism correctly?

    • @ANTISHANTY
      @ANTISHANTY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Malcolm, great question! With the extreme weather fly deployed, in the morning any moisture or frost comes off with the fly. All the best!

    I’m a fan of the rig. I don’t want to be critical but the sound in this almost made it unwatchable. Voice real low, music real loud. Honestly could have done without the music altogether. A few shots of a thermometer showing interior exterior temps would have been great too, maybe the next trip out??
    Thanks for sharing your trip with us

    • @ANTISHANTY
      @ANTISHANTY  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your welcome and thanks for your feedback! It would indeed be great to have some shots showing interior/exterior temps, we are considering a portable weather station in the future, and the sound on a GoPro in the wind is spotty. More to come!

    What would the negative results be if you did not use Extreme Weather Fly on this trip?
    Think you can show us how it removes after being in snow?

    • @ANTISHANTY
      @ANTISHANTY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Wil D, steering clear of hypothetical negatives, we designed the unit to have extra burley weather resistance with the Extreme Weather Fly deployed. It offers fail-safe protection against the elements in the worst of conditions. Feel free to send us an email for more information - info@antishanty.com

      For many dogs, a crate is a bed and sanctuary. Many dogs love their crates. It resembles a den they would naturally seek out/build. It's probably the only place that is truly theirs, where they can be undisturbed and feel safe. Happy trails.

    This must be the only hard sided pop top camper in the world that requires a waterproof marine grade fabric complete roof cover to keep the interior dry!
    The entire point of having a hard sided camper is to do away with the necessity of having fabric panels between the sides of the camper and the elevating roof!
    However, your side panels are hard sided, as is your roof, so why does it require the use of a waterproof marine grade fabric complete roof cover to keep the interior dry?
    Surely the hard sided roof panels keep water from entering the interior, and are themselves insulated!
    Trying to fit your roof cover in driving rain and snow or in windy conditions is going to be horrendous, likewise trying to remove it, but most importantly, a hard sided, hard roof panel camper should not require a separate cover to keep water from entering the interior!
    This appears to be a retrospective response to a leaking roof problem!
    Please correct me if I am wrong about this, as I have never come across such a bizarre set up!

      Hey Felix Cat, thank you for your feedback.
      Layering systems have been used in clothing and shelter with great success for millennia.
      We use it as an additional layer of protection, like wearing a shell over a puffy, with a mid-layer, and base layer for extra cold/nasty weather.
      When it's nice out, leave the shell in the gear bag.
      If you get it, get it.
      If you don't get it, don't get it.
      All the best!
