I just moved to San Diego last week! It’s beautiful here. Moved from Pennsylvania. I suggest you look into astrocartography for help trying to find a place to live long term! Also please remember traveling somewhere and living somewhere are completely different experiences! I would recommend not being touristy when visiting towns you are thinking of moving to! That way you can get a better idea of what it’d be like living there. If you are able to, I recommend living in the cities you are thinking about for about two months. Everyone I’ve spoke to that’s moved to a different state/city has realized they love or hate it by month two. I was living in la for two months and realized I hated it and that’s when I moved to San Diego.

Beware of college area!! Not the nicest place in terms of street safety. Just stay off of El Cajon Blvrd tbh. La Jolla will be beautiful year round

Eating in my car by myself is one of my favourite things - it’s like a little solo date. Also I’m assuming (and hoping) your bug bites are gone by now, but for future reference, you can trace them in pen to make it easier to monitor if they’re getting bigger or smaller!

Move to Nashville! It’s honestly become such an amazing place to live and super artsy and fun but not too expensive compared to most other cities. I know a lot of like 20-30 year olds moving here from all over the country. It’s pretty crazy!!
This may be extra haha, but to help with choosing apartments: break down all of the things that are important to you. Like price, interior design, nearby shopping, proximity to friends/family, etc
Then for each place, rate them on a scale of 1-10 for each category. Add up all of the numbers, and then see which one scores the best!
For example:
Apartment A:
Price 8
Interior 6
Shopping 7
Close to friends 4
Total: 25
Apartment B:
Price 6
Interior 7
Shopping 3
Friends 6
Total: 22
So A would win out over B (if I did the math right haha)
Or you could do all of this and then your heart will want to be somewhere else. There’s nothing wrong with that!

Raleigh area in North Carolina is so nice. The weather is super mild and parts of the area make you feel like you are in a big city while other areas make it feel like a small suburb. Some days it feels like I’m still living in the Midwest and some days I remember that I live 2 hours from the ocean. There’s just a bit of everything here. There are a ton of people moving to the area but there are so many opportunities as well.

As a nashville resident, it is a great place to live. It is definitely a bachelorette party target, but it has the city life without the prices or traffic

When i was in AZ in January for a trip we stayed in downtown phoenix and I really loved the atmosphere. I live in a city with 150,000 people so phoenix felt massive , but with Tempe having been so close I feel like there wouldn’t be a huge shock. I’m so so so excited for your next adventure ❤️. post grad is a crazy rollercoaster (graduated 7 months ago now ) of emotions but also no group projects so I’d say it’s pretty great ☺️😂
Also visited south Scottsdale and had to parallel park our rental car. That was terrifying 🥹

I hear you with AZ. I lived here for four years after college but should be leaving for the East Coast this year's end. I had that same dream about living by myself and I'm really glad I did it. You should check out Orange County. Its in between LA and San Diego and I love living here. I think you’d really like it!
Also if you think your friends or boyfriend will be visiting a lot I’d definitely make sure there is ample guest parking. This is something I had issues with at some apartments especially if my boyfriend stayed overnight!
my dad side of the family is from there and I really like it!! I will definitely add that to my list
I moved from San Diego to Old Town Scottsdale. I found looking at privately owned places less expensive than apartments. Also, I was told to look at Arcadia, west of Old Town Scottsdale.

Yes! Arizona would be way too hot for me. I can't survive that extreme temperature.
Also don't like my hometown or home state. Went from Ohio to Illinois. Illinois is better but I am not impressed with the town we're in. I live with family still due to lack of money. So sadly I'm stuck with whatever my family wants. It's sad.

So I don’t have any real tips for post grad new town but I think you’ll really love getting into a no school routine 😋 Lots of time for morning and nighttime schedules, and decorating a new living space ofc 🤩

i think you’d love san diego!! the rent is high but it’s definitely worth it. the county is so big!! i just moved from mission beach to like 10 minutes inland and it’s still so great and cheaper !’

@@KeeganActon makes sense it’s a lot! if you look around north park, city heights, bankers hill, etc. it’s not as bad. not sure how much rent is in arizona but moving inland definitely helped me.

austin or san diego or nashville. i wouldnt go to seattle or la or nyc. ive been in la 12 years and im not unhappy but the dynamics are not what they used to be since i moved here in 2010. i came to la after its “glory years!” the cost of living is not great anymore (same with nyc!)! i agree living in az for a year and traveling where u wanna go.
i’ve been hearing those things for la a lot!!! especially recently it’s been really important to me to live in a place where as a woman I have all of my rights (which I currently don’t😅) but your inside is very helpful because I definitely don’t wanna make the wrong decision

As a young adult who is a few years post grad, you definitely don’t go out as much as you think you will! I’d save the money with a nicer apartment closer to your friends. Then take that. Money to travel!

Would 100% recommend moving away from your hometown eventually. I moved across the entire country a couple years ago at 18 and now I’m moving to a new country. I’m moving to the middle of Europe so I can travel more easily for a few more years and see new potential “forever cities” or countries. I think your plan sounds phenomenal, go to the younger focused place and travel to see where you want to go next
Also irrelevant but I can actually listen to you just talk. Most people if they have like 10+ minute sections of talking I’ll skip it but i feel like you talk how I think so It keeps me interested

NC is really nice and housing cost is still affordable if you live west of Durham and Raleigh. You're better off buying a house than renting that's if you have a good down payment and have a good credit score. 😃

California has a lot of issues. San Diego is nice but there are some rough areas. I got out of CA and don't regret it. I live on the east coast now and it's way more affordable to buy a house. I love Scottsdale. You can thank California people for raising the housing prices in AZ. Boston, MA & NY are nice but you have to deal with the weather and way overpriced to buy a house. Have you been to any of the Carolina states? They're nice and very affordable. Humid though and rural. Some areas you have to make a drive to go to a store.

if you're thinking about moving to Oregon maybe consider Eugene or Salem they are cleaner and safer than portland but still are larger areas OR... just move to Tuscaloosa to be with Lauren lol

Hello…I love the idea that you are going to take one year to figure out where you want to live. FORGET PORTLAND…omg… the homeless population is epic and it was an eye opener for my twenty year old grand daughter. I lived in NYC for thirty six years. It is now a top five most dangerous city’s. Visit NYC…don’t live there. Nashville is a cool choice and so is San Diego. I would opt for old Scottsdale…bars…fun…downtown Phoenix is also sketchy. Good luck. I love love loved your travel videos. Live alone for at least a year. Mwah.
i agree that homeless have gotten out of hand in portland. i visited it in 2018 and im sure its gotten worse sadly. i loved the east end of the river but the west end/downtown wasnt for me

Where I live (Greece) you can't drive if you don't know how to parallel park. It'd be impossible to park in most places if you don't.
