    Very interresting and almost complete ! You forgot the most important point about the playing . Every other stringed instruments are played with the finger ON the string, pressing it on the fretboard. It seems that the lyra is played with your NAILS, isn't ?

    Very helpful file. I just bought a Lyra from crete which looks almost identical to yours. It just doesnt have these points to show where the notes are unfortunatly. Na se kala kai efharistw.

    Thank you so much for this tutorial, I seem to have an issue though. It was helpful for getting the Lyra in tune and holding the instrument and bow properly and making it sound properly, but I have a problem. When I get to the dots, the second dot actually resonates the sound of the second string, instead of the fourth and everything is tuned properly.
    Edit: haha, I may have figured out my problem. You're not supposed to hold down the strings with your fingers are you? You're just supposed to put them against the string am I right?

      Hello my friend! I am very sorry for not getting to you sooner... You are not supposed to hold down the string with your finger, you should be just pressing with your fingernail! If you need any help please contact me and I can help you out! jnm12@sunyorange.edu hope you enjoy the next few videos that will be posted!

      My lyra I bought from Nikos Papalexakis from Rethymno, I paid 1000 euros and I had a smooth transaction and Niko is a dear friend and amazing person. If you are just starting he does have learners lyres for a cheaper price. Find him on FAcebook

      thank you John. It would be great if you could make another instructional video on Left hand techniques.

      @a_re_yianni  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would be best to learn with the right hand, mainly because anywhere you go people mostly play right handed, even though they may be left handed people

    • @a_re_yianni
      @a_re_yianni  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Henry! Thank you for the comment, the kemence is tuned differently therefore it does give a different sound

    Hi there,
    just asking if its unusual when the strings are far from the neck

    • @a_re_yianni
      @a_re_yianni  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! It depends how far you’re talking. If you can see mine are normal if they are higher than normal you may have a warped neck or a larger than normal bridge that may not be for your specific lyra. I’ve seen some instruments where people buy other bridges and add them without checking how it would affect the instrument

    No in the uk teaching do , re mi fa doesn’t help as it can be from any major scale you should be teaching the note names you are playing !

    • @a_re_yianni
      @a_re_yianni  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you pay attention, the notes being used are the notes on the instrument. Those are the notes that are taught in Greece. Again, if you listened to the video it is tuned ADG LA Re Sol.

      Sorry you feel this way. This video has helped many others so maybe it is just a language issue. This was made for people outside of Greece who do not speak Greek to learn. Again has helped many. Maybe it is just not for you
