    Olly! 7 years? my goodness! you have discovered gold with such a young age. I do really admire how wise you are at your age.
    Me, I am old enough to know better and I have only started journaling last year. Oh my god!!! the amount of self awareness I have now because I journal everyday is incredible. I also get to empty my mind by putting my thoughts into paper and I noticed that once they are on the paper I feel I have had a rant and don't have to dwell on things anymore.
    I write about the things I am grateful about and think how I can continue to be grateful and enjoy my present life. I write what I wish to do and how I would like to be better in what I do and know already. I also write about happy and upsetting things that happen that day and reflect on why did it upset me or made me happy and what I can do better/ different or same next time.
    Some days not much happen and I just write about something that made me laugh that day or I do a drawing of a person I love and write why I love that person. I have also named a person that helped me that day and describe how I feel about that person before and after they helped me.
    I must admit It took a while before it became a habit and I enjoyed doing it. At first I had to force myself to write and It felt a bit like a chore. After 3 weeks doing it, it became a habit and I could not go bed if I didn't write on my journal that day.
    I will never go back to not journal because it has helped me in so many ways mentally, emotionally and it has supported my personal growth and development as a better college, mother, friend and daughter.

      Hey Josy, great to hear your story and awesome to hear that you started journaling recently. Love to hear that you have noticed that you're becoming more self aware with your journal - most of my viewers and I would agree this is one of the biggest benefits of journaling!
      They are some great ideas about how you journal to feel more grateful for your life, even on days where not much happen. It's easy to forget all of the incredible experiences we have had but reflecting on people you love is a great idea!
      You must feel very motivated that journaling has helped you in so many different ways and hopefully you can continue to get value from my videos!!
      Speak soon :)

      I write about the most mundane things and that sometimes triggers me to write other things. :). It can be fun later in life to read what is written from the past . Instantly remembering what you were doing .

    For me lately using a journal to dump everything there, specially during my lows in my emotional wave, helps me decompress my mind, reflect on my emotions, letting them flow out to the pages without judgement

    Lesson #2 reminds me of a childhood friend when he was trying to decide whether to get rid of something or not. He would break it so then he had to move forward and dispose of it. I've always liked the idea of journaling but never started. 1) it reminds me of writing assignments as homework when I was a kid. 2) Not really knowing what to write about, i.e. nothing comes to mind. Same problem I had as a kid. I enjoy your videos and believe I will try the dopamine option.

    0:10 consistency is the hardest part of journaling, but it helps so much!

      So true, Paul. Like with any healthy habit in our life, the hardest part is trying to stay consistent. But if you can get that right, the rest takes care of itself :)

    Great video! Very happy that you’ve learned so much! How many journals do you have at one time and what do you use them for? Do you have a separate one for dopamine days and pocket?

    • @ollystaniland
      @ollystaniland  21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hey Sheon, awesome to hear that you found this video really helpful! That's a great question... I'm the kind of person that focuses hard on a few things but then goes really in depth with that hobby. For example, with journaling, I'll have loads of different journals that I experiment with for different purposes. I keep my pocket notebook for those day to day, in the moment tasks. Then, I have a main journal that I use to brain dump and unload my thoughts. I also have a big journal to track my goals and progress towards my goals. In between this, I am constantly experimenting with new techniques in all shapes and forms, that I share on this channel.
      Hope that helps :)
