    I like technique 9. What make our lives meaningful are basically, other people. OK, sort of... So, think about them more. This is also an exercise of your impressions about people. Combine this with technique 11. Your're in your own funeral. But, you're dead of course. You can't interact with anyone. You're a ghost, free-flowing. Who are there? What do they think? What would they say about you? Who do you want to be there, if they're not already? Why? Exercise on these types of ideas. Prompts are wonderful. But, they are just starting points. Journaling is not about documenting what you feel and think. It's an inquiry of why you feel and think that way.

    15:20 what you’re calling an obituary is actually a eulogy. An obituary is where a post in a newspaper is written to let others know that the specified person died.

    • @jonsmith20766
      @jonsmith20766 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ollystaniland It was similar to what you suggest. If you note down ideas it tells your mind that your ideas are worth noting down and gives you more ideas, like a feedback loop. It's better described in a book called "The Einstein Factor" by Win Wenger. I didn't give it a proper go, but after your video I might do now to see how it works for myself. Something that I have done on a similar vein was keeping a dream journal. That definitely told my subconscious that my dreams are important and helped me recall more of them. Again a feedback loop.

      @@ollystaniland I usually go for a "run" - I put run in quotes because at this early stage of my training, I'm only doing zone 2 slow jogging. A woman walking her dog passed me yesterday! Walking. I thought that was pretty funny. And then deciding what frog I'm going to eat that day would be next. Sometimes I eat the frog, sometimes my brain simply won't get in gear until later in the day, but at least I know what the most important thing is, and usually manage to complete it before day is done. I used to use checklists, and they worked very well for me for many years, then about 3 or 4 years ago, I just stopped looking at them. I tried to start up again, but no go. I'm hoping gamification (maybe with animal stickers instead of points, maybe different size duck stickers a la Taskmaster) will help me get more structure into my days.

    I read Automatic Habits, and started a handwritten tracking diary that I found most useful. Then my family visited me in August for three weeks from USA. I got busy, and stopped tracking. Although I go to gym regularly, the rot has set in the other areas of my life. I have lost motivation and my mojo. I came across this video, and it reminded me how useful I found it to get everything done, and more. I am 76, I need to keep my mind and body focused on doing things. I've been doing a gratitude journal for a few years now and I love it! I have been wanting to try something new and I feel like a dopamine journal would help me accomplish more. Thanks for the idea!

      That's so cool to hear that you've been using a gratitude journal for a few years - I'm sure you must have noticed how much of an impact it has in boosting your mood, right?? Since you seem really experienced in journaling already, I am really hopeful that you're going to achieve so much success with the Dopamine Journal. Be sure to come back and let me know how you get on :)
