We need more films like this I hope you all were able to keep the models you used or to be more precise what may have been left from them
Sometimes it just goes to show whenever it comes to time constraints completing a particular scene in your film that the old methods are still very much useful and very often work just as good as high res polygon models in cgi! The downsides with cgi though that it often takes up editing time, motion tracking and keying not to mention rendering time and processing power with your sfx teams gpu levels going thru the roof! Whether your sfx team are working with cinema 4d, 3ds Max, Adobe Ae cc, Zbrush, Devinci Resolve studio Blackmagic etc still really makes not that much difference to be honest! Smaller sfx production studios even work with Blender believe it or not even though it's not usually the preferred option in larger more demanding of big screen cinematic sfx projects but the great thing is it's an ideal tool for trainee special effects artists and the best part is, it's free!

@@traffic9518 Exactly, it just goes to show just because a movie has a short budget doesn't mean it's not going to be an absolute hit at the film festivals with the right calibre of script writing and dialogue with superb production value anything is possible with award winning results! In my opinion I'd say it's cross between a shortend version of The vanishing & Hope & Glory that equals a short creative masterpiece!! Peter Mullan you've got your work cut out m8! lol 😉🎥🎬

@@Ethyrus Who said anything about low quality?? It would be very inaccurate and unfair to generalise and assume that a low film budget automatically means that the results are going to be perceived as that of low quality! This is a story that very successfully captivates the psyche based upon the events during the battle of Dunkirk! Mind you the only thing that your never guaranteed when directing and shooting a scene for a film whether it's an award winning short or a full length Indie is that of the weather!
They did this with low as f budget and it looks better than an one with a lot of budget

I was one of the organisers of the 2019 RGU Film Festival in Aberdeen of which this won to top award in the ceremony! I have no clue why YT is recommending this to me only now (2021) but it's nice to see again!

Thanks Angus! Glad you enjoyed the trailer :). And yes, all our close ups and 'hero' plane shots were created using miniatures. CGI was used for shots of distant planes. We'll have more videos on the miniatures and VFX coming out very soon!

0:21 i thought bombs are supposed to be inside not outside
Most models of the He-111 were fitted with external racks for carrying larger bombs (1000 kg for example) which could not fit in the internal bomb bay.
