Have you visited the New Forest National Park?
This is near where I grew up so we visited for walks and days out. It's beautiful but you really need to be alert because ponies - or donkeys - or cattle - or PIGS - can pop up around any corner!

I learned riding on a new forest (and fjord horse) still have a sweet spot for them. The donkeys are adorable. Really enjoyed this video.
When you said I need a horse to bring me home it reminded me of an incident from my childhood.
I used to live in the New Forest, one winter day I was out riding on my horse and the mist came in. I could just make out my horses ears. I had to totally rely on him to take me home as I was soon totally disoriented. When it came in I was a good couple of miles from home.
They are such amazing animals, aren't they?! That is a fun story, thanks for sharing!
I live local to the New Forest so spent a lot of my childhood variations it for dog walks and days out plus seeing the ponies. The family pony I grew up with is a New Forest x Dales pony too so I have a fondness for the little tough, all rounder ponies that they are!
